The weird and also possibly eerie part of liminal photos or media is that they are sometimes taken for different purposes. For example the photos of the bunker, World Trade Center interior, or the abandoned mall that were probably once considered normal photos for show, but are now a staple of the liminal community.

8:01 as a Polish person I’m glad to see a liminal space located in my country for the first time Also Cinema City is a cinema company in Poland (that’s not the only location of it)

Ive found tons of liminal space images really harp upon the frutiger aero aesthetic, rooted in modernistic environmentalism. The ultra green grass, wind turbines, clean well-built eco houses, and sunny landscape are present in so many liminal space images. Its all very frutiger aero.

My first reaction to the beach photo was that it looks like Jesolo, but assumed it must have been someplace else considering how many generic beaches there are in the world! Jesolo is incredibly popular for family holidays and most kids from Austria have fuzzy nostalgic memories of the beaches and hotels. I always found the entire place very liminal because it has vibrant, holiday vibes during the day but gets downright creepy as soon as the beach is empty. During our honeymoon we underestimated the time it took to reach a restaurant by foot and decided to turn back because it was getting dark and empty fast. We must have walked right past the Hotel Plaza Esplanade section. The upper areas of the beach weren't fully developed yet and had tonnes of abandoned buildings in between the hotels. Many of them had squatters and sketchy looking people hanging around. Crime and muggings on the beach after dark were not uncommon so we were pretty freaked out and legged it back to the hotel.

These series just gives me a different vibe, thanks Jade for this!

Liminal spaces have never scared me. They always invoke feelings of wonder and excitement for the future.

I live near the Toys R Us! Its now replaced by a mall called The Parkway Place Mall! its weird to hear about it Also great vid! keep it up ive been a fan for awhile now!

I saw a liminal space featured in my favourite sitcom: Not Going Out. It was an episode where they all went to a haunted house for Christmas and there was one scene where they got woken up in the night by a song being played on a penny whistle. They were all stood in a line at the bottom of the stairs and it was a very old, dark house. The lights were very dim and you could faintly make out the floor was black and white tiles. It was quite creepy as it very liminal especially with the flooring and Daisy saying to Lee, who was at the back of the line, " Remember, in films, it is always the one at the back that gets it first."

I have lived around Lafayette Louisiana all my life, and I’m currently 31 years old. My memories of the Northgate Mall have always been liminal. Even when I was like 5, the place was almost always empty and eerie.

Liminal spaces are very interesting to me. I love them a lot because of the comfort of nostalgia I get from them. But there’s also an eerie feeling that resides when you look at them. I loved this video because you actually found these photos in real life that bring me so much nostalgia that I miss. Also amazing collab with you and Broogli!

The moment he mentioned Ankeny, Iowa I squealed a little bit. As an Iowan, I like the recognition. While I'm nowhere near Ankeny, it's still pretty neat!! 0:45 I'm from the Huntsville area & IMMIDEATLEY knew where this was! About that Toys R Us/ Books a Million, those two still remained open while the rest of the building was being demolished around 1998-ish. It is now a shopping plaza with Home Depot and Costco. The Toys R Us closed in 2011, then became Planet Fitness in 2018. The Books A Million moved in 2021 and divided into three different spaces.

I grew up in Westmoreland County, PA, and instantly recognized these places! Another famous liminal space was taken at the Kiski area high school, near Saltsburg, Pennsylvania. PA is full of liminal and abandoned spaces, it's the one thing I miss about home now that I live in the coastal south where everything abandoned is ripped apart and built up instantly.

That whole citation reading in french was just the best part of your videos, ever! You have to be a native speaker like myself to enjoy this wonderful pronounciation to the maximum
