That first spot Rigby picked out was the best. Seems his sinuses got plugged up after that tho. I've always found in glacial till that it's not homogenously mixed through out the deposit your working. Right a 6:11 i'd had to have a look on your left side. Where that water first broke around that curve. I wouldn't have checked the bank but the pool. Like your last spot, the water would have created a vortex and knowing the gold is will float you need something to help it down. Vortex. Worked for me in Illinois and Colorado. The gold was always concentrated on the inside bend and if you had a "sharp" delta (?) jutting out into the creek/river it would swirl around and spin into that hole. No telling what's smashed into the clay there. As always Jason, i had a great adventure, and i do remember those pin cushions. Friendly reminder about them, use caution when sitting. Voice of experience. Thanks!

Cool day out! So bizarre you got skunked on so many promising looking spots. I definitely see the potential with the River Shark, but would be hard if you had to pack it and hike with it. Great if you had a way to get it close to where you are working though. Would be great to test some of the high flow areas I've seen you try in the past just to have the flow blow most of the material off your shovel. That was a fantastic jar of paydirt! You forgot to hit that geode looking rock. Actually, if you have a wet tile saw, you should try taking some slices out of it.

Brother you took me down the river with your lovely doggy.....saw many places down that creek.....did a few prospecting pans with your expert eye and explanations i definitely agreed with your reading of that flow and bank and drift formation !! Then off we go back to base where you demonstrate that ingenious bit of kit for chomping that nice pay dirt up from beds in fast flowing water ! Then........that bottle of wonders....you took so much time separating all that for us to see, so respecting the reader that sent it too you that you carefully and efficiently promoted ! You went a long way up that creak but forgot the gold paddle. like the idea of the the shark but agree with all you a little resign and it would work much better. crystalline silver always looked like snowflakes to me as well! awesome paydirt for sure! i was thinking part of the redesign would be using plexi or acrylic lid to lighting it up and see what you were shoving. that's for the share and as always all you wizards stay awesome!

I remembered something from Mississippi that I have to share.. We were doing something down in one of the little bayous behind our school, I can't remember if it was a class thing or if it was "after school activities" ie not wanting to go home and do homework (and I lived half a mile from school.. third grade, both years) and we were playing around in the clay harvesting some of the white clay. One of my classmates wouldn't get near the stuff. No matter what we did, he wouldn't get near it. (of course that lead us to chasing him with it/throwing it at him/sneaking it into his desk etc) Eventually we got the reason why.. He wouldn't get near it because his paw-paw told him it was leftover dinosaur shit from where they ate the first humans and it was white/grey from their bones... Welcome to the south. :D BTW, someone needs to make you a Jason the Mason design/shirt. I also have to laugh, one of the people that lives in the subdivision that was added on a while back, has this really interesting LARGE piece of rounded river rock laying by their porch.. Nothing of note EXCEPT that this rock is mostly quartz with bands of insanely bright red running through it in weird patterns... I'm 99% sure it's got mercury in it ie cinnabar, it's the only thing around here that I know that's fresh blood red. I am definitely a sucker for gemstones etc.. gold's worth a decent amount of money but gems just have their own draw. I actually prefer silver, could be the Irish in me.

Ahh, spring in the upper mid-west. Loved hearing the birds in the back ground, reminded me of being on the cricks in Michigan. This was a great video, you pointed out all the great drop zones and low pressure zones to folks. That was a heck of a paydirt bag too. That quartz with the geode looking caverns reminded me of the schtuff I was finding in Arizona. Great job Wizard Team!

Geo's! I find mine around the ponds/lakes next to iron ore mines!!! Iron Mt (u.p. Michigan) not sure over there in cheese land! Lol purple is what your after! I find softball size! Especially if the lake has small islands!

Jason, I have never prospected in Wisconsin other then looking for a good Bratwurst sandwich which is generally no problem. However your method of prospecting could be improved. Here is one way. Go to a garage sales and get an old set of lawn darts. Then take your wife and daughter prospecting with you and have them theow the darts towards the creek, and then dig where they land. Am I being sarcastic enough? It would drive me totally crazy to putz around with that almost microscopic gold you are finding. Think about that! Here is what you need to answer. Where in the hell did it come from? So go where the flour is and move upstream a little. Keep taking small test pans as you move upstream. Eventually you will stop finding any gold and then you are where you need to be, because the gold came from that area. If the water is somewhat clear, look around carefully for quarts and maybe you will find an outcrop in the water. Also look really carefully at the sides of the creek and climb up each side and have a look around. Does the land slope upwards? If so walk a little and look around. Any exposed bedrock? The long and the short of it is that the gold had to leach our of rock in the area nearby If you have a good metal detector try using it, (I like the Garrett AT Gold). Jason, I am not trying to be an ass with you, but I hope this post may help you find more gold. Watch where Rigby goes as Dogs find things unusual to them. Watch for that as well.

I totally get where you’re coming from and it’s sound advice and much appreciated!!!! The areas around here are 100 % flour gold deposited by glacial activity coming from Ontario Canada. The overburden can be 100s of feet thick in many places , end moraines and pitted outwash that have been reworked by waterflow are the main sources. In some lucky locations the gold can be further concentrated in a horizontal fashion by locating dense clay deposits. These are the areas we try to locate. Is the gold i find worth much ? Monetary value …. No. Getting out looking for the gold available in most areas certainly can be a challenge but a welcome one . There are definitely spots somewhere around here that may fall in line with your thinking , however prospecting outside creek banks is prohibited! Id love to locate areas where gold is falling out of a nice quartz laded stringer but that would require more lawn darts than we’re ever made 😎
