Finding Shorebirds on World Shorebirds Day!
The end of summer and start of fall mark the time of the year when shorebirds make their way south from their northern breeding grounds. It also marks the season when World Shorebirds Day prompts birders to go out and find these fascinating birds. In 2021, we went out to find shorebird species in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Glad you found some! I’m a teacher in South Korea and living here made me appreciate shore birds a lot more. Korea has some of the most amazing tidal flats in the world, with tons of shorebirds, including cute rarities like the spoon-billed sandpiper! I really enjoy these drab but spritely birds.
Those were terrific shorebirds. I've seen some of those at the beach.
Thanks for another great one 👍
Beautiful birds thank you for the video. Always great to see you guys. Your friend Kirk.
All those birds had great camouflage! My favourite is the Sandpiper. I like Dippers too. We get a few species of Plover here in UK but, because we are quirky, we pronounce it pluvver. 😏 😉
Out of different type of bird-groups shorebirds are my favorite! Especially the plovers! Such beautiful birds! I wonder how many species of plover there are?? Good video!😳

Well, according to Google, there's about 66 worldwide and only 7 in North America
I'm going to Quivira National Wildlife Refuge with my best friend for some shorebird migration this week!! Very excited to see what we find. BTW Quivira is basically the KS equivalent of Horicon. #1 hotspot in the state IMO

I was in Kansas at the end of July, though north of where you'll be. Lots of interesting birds and surprisingly beautiful terrain.
Go to inland mud flats, they’re so good!!!
Oak Creek outlet to Lake Michigan is my favorite shorebird spot! Love you videos!!!
I think I've only seen like 7 species of shorebirds in the time I've been birding, and only one of the species you guys saw. The Semipalmated Plover is adorable!
Today , Sept 15th I saw a purple sandpiper in Holland, MI at our State Park. Seems early for a purple sandpiper. I took several shots and my fellow birders all agreed it was a Purple Sandpiper.
In honor of the day everyone go watch the Disney short "Piper". It's beautiful and inspiring.
Loved it!
GBH on the rocks?! Is that a new mixed drink? 😄
Look at all the garbage on the beach!!! So sad

So much trash on the beach. What a shame
