Finding Seashells at Low Tide | A Variety of Shells on the Sand

Ойын-сауық

Sunshine, low tides, and a quiet beach; what more can I ask for? Well, shells?? There wasn't a lot of shells to see, but it was great to be out there enjoying the nice weather. Looking back at this one, I think my favourites are that Ring-top Cowrie and the Royal Mulberry Whelk, such cuties! Thanks for watching!
Let me know which ones were your favourites ;D and if you enjoyed this and want to see more shell finding videos, I'd appreciate a like or a comment. I read all of them and try to reply when I can. You have no idea how much of a smile you guys put on my face. Thanks everyone!

I didn't even realise that Point Cartwright and the surrounding beaches had such lovely seashells until I saw "Shellcade Shelling Down Under" - I admired him a lot, and you can check out his videos here:

It was cool seeing the live hairy Tritons. He’s so fuzzy that I’m not sure I would see it in the water. 🌊 Then you followed up with an empty one, nice. I was clapping 👏🏼 when you found the operculums. Does anyone else like them as much as me??? My favorite today was the royal mulberry whelk! ❤ I love those little white bumps on it. So unusual. So glad you saw it! Thanks for a wonderful video Maddie! I enjoyed it! 🥰🥰🥰

G'day Pam 👋🏻💖 I've been seeing quite a few live Giant Hairy Tritons lately; I guess they're out in the rock pools looking for things to eat! I think(?) they're a predatory snail 🐌 and the cool weather here must be making them hungry!! Haha, lots of Operculums lately too; I think you're pretty much the only person who comments about them, so obviously no one loves them as much as you do 😉 but if it makes you feel better, there are Operculum bracelets for sale in the surf clothing stores around here, though I think they're imported from Asia Pacific countries. Ahhh so the Royal Mulberry Whelk was the favourite too 🤩 I borrow your phrase "lumpy bumpy" to describe this one, so thanks for that 😁 It was a short but sweet video this time (next one will be short too unfortunately 😅) but all the same, thank you so much for watching 🥰

The bubble shell are very nice, the snake-head, the pheasant shells are so cute, the whelke is lovely. I always enjoy every your shelling adventures. Thank you for another wonderful day. Have a wonderful day Maddie

G'day Toni 👋🏻💖 There was a few nice shells on this trip! The rock pools and sand have been a little light on shells at this beach lately; I'm still hoping for some awesome winter finds (I say as school holidays begins and the beaches will be packed with shellers) but maybe I'll find those glossy Arabians next month!! I know they're out there! The Operculums have been lovely and plentiful lately, and the Giant Hairy Tritons have been poping up alive more often then not! I think I'm finally finding some nice glossy Snake-heads lately; I feel like it's been ages since I found some nice ones! All in all, it was a lovely day for a trip to the beach 😁 As always Toni, thank you so much for watching 🥰

Hi Maddie, Jan from Austria here. I'm currently on the very warm west coast of Florida, doing lots of shelling. I found a bucket list (for me) shell yesterday; a nearly intact junonia shell. But, your finds are so fantastic. Today, the royal mulberry was my favorite, but I love all the bonnets, tritons, and cowries (and operculums, cones, rams horn, and everything else you show us). Love your enthusiasm; thanks so much for filming!

G'day Jan 👋🏻💖 Oh my goodness, WHAT?!! Whoa, a real Junonia, how wonderful! Congratulations!! I think a lot of local Florida residents go beach combing all the time and never find a single one , so it's absolutely wonderful to hear that you found such a special shell on your big trip the the USA 🤩 That must have been an absolutely magical moment, well done on spotting the spots! I'm a little late with my comment, but I hope you're still in sunny Florida and having a wonderful time! My finds this time are not quite as spectacular, but I'll take the compliment 😂 Thank you so much for watching 🥰 Have a happy and safe time overseas!!

G'day Roxann 👋🏻🦀 Hehe, I'm glad that you and the kiddos liked the shells this time 🤩 I think she'll want to come to Australia at this rate! This brought a big smile to my face; your 2 year old is absolutely adorable ❤️ Oh that's something I was wondering; you're the second person to mention summer starting on a day that isn't the first of June. Does the new season, summer, start on a different day for you??? For us, each season technically starts on the first of the month and lasts for three months, so spring for us is first of September. Is autumn/fall not the first of September for you, too? Just wondering! Thanks for watching 🥰

@@SandCoffeeRocks yeah it's not at the start of the months for our seasons. I think it has something to do with the sun at its highest point in the sky for summer and the sun at its lowest point in the sky for winter...equinoxes and solstices changes. So year to year that can changes slightly.

Hey 👋🏼 Maddie! Hope you’re having a wonderful day. You found some beautiful shells 🐚 on this hunt, like always. 🙂 The Royal Mulberry Welk is one of my favorites. What an adorable little shell ! 😍 The Frog 🐸 shell 🐚 is another one that caught my eye. I bet he’s nice cleaned up… The Checkered Bonnet is another beauty, absolutely perfect 🤩 Shoutouts to the Ring Top Cowry, their colors stand out from the others. Also the little land snail 🐌. It reminds me of a sundial in a way.. Thanks for the fun walk! TTFN 👋🏼 ❤

G'day Mimi 👋🏻💖 I've been having some wonderful days with some lovely sunny weather... though it just started raining tonight 😂 in winter! I hope you're having some nice warm weather over there! Ohhh I think you picked out the best shell as the favourite; looking back, I think that Royal Mulberry Whelk really was the best just by how interesting it is! Ahhh I wish I was about to keep that Frog Shell, but I left it behind because it probably had a hermit crab in it. A shame, I really love those Granulated Frog shells; they're really not common! My goodness, it was a short episode, but it sure had some lovely little shells in it! As always Mimi, thank you so much for watching 🥰

G'day Babs! It's an adorable little cutie 😍 They only seem to grow this large; they're a real microshell. Ahhh, the English/common name will make it hard to search up, you're better off with looking at "Morula anaxares" for this exact species (becuase Morula means "mulberry" so a lot of similar shells will pop up when you search it, such as your Tenguella Granulata; it''s similar but not this exact shell). For more info, and how I identified it in the first place, have a look over here: conchology.be/?t=263&shellID=4762&family=MURICIDAE%20ERGALATAXINAE&fullspecies=Morula%20(Morula)%20%20anaxares&species=anaxares&genus=Morula Thank you so much for watching ❤

G'day Alison 👋🏻💖 Hahah, well, yeah?? The octopus drills the hole with its rasping tongue, called a radula, so technically; you can think of it as holding the drill in its mouth! Is that a better mind-picture for you 😂? The Ring-top was really nice today; I see a lot of live ones, but I don't get spoiled with empty ones very often (I guess that's good for the cowries, though)! Haha, the sea bean is as windy as it wants to be; I'll leave the rest to your ample imagination. Aww thank you for the kind words 🤩 this ended up being a nice display. Thanks for watching 🥰

G'day Trudy 👋🏻💖 The Giant Hairy Tritons were nice; that live one was definitely the better shell!! Oh yes, the water gets cooler with the cooler days 😅 luckily the sunny winter days warm it up enough not to freeze in. I think the reports said the water temperature was around 22C during the day? Probably a lot less before day reaches it's peak temperature, but anyway, about 70F in the middle of the day, but probably in the 50s or 60s during the early morning? Not sure, I'm not great at Fahrenheit conversion. Hope you're having a not too hot week. Thanks for watching 🥰
