The way it was told to my sister, who had the largest twins in Central Ohio... still holds the record, is that identical twins are a fluke of nature, a miracle. Fraternal twins from two separate eggs are most likely genetic. You probably have Hyperovulation, which means you release two or more eggs. It's all about the female, the father's family history has nothing to do with it. If you go back in your family's female history, you, your mom, her mom, her mom and so on, there will be most likely twins or multiple births. Your father's family history has nothing to do with it, either. It's all about the female! My sisters twins weighed... 8lb 11oz each. Boy and Girl.

Yes I have done research on this and found it all fascinating. As far as we know, we’ll as far as we can recall our family history on my mother’s side they do not have twins. I know my husband and his genes have nothing to do with it but also something else I found out through research since it was previously thought that the fathers genes produce the “twins” which is not the case. I was trying to explain myself in the video but all I could manage to say was “ they have different dads” since I was still in shock.

I am 31, turning 32 this year in August. I still can’t believe I am having twins.

I hate when people tell other people they are lying it seems pretty immature.

That ultrasound technician is wrong, identical twins can have their own sack and placenta….just depends when the egg splits….you should read about it….if they end up to be the same sex and they look alike you should have a zygosity dna test

Yes I have read about this but they aren’t the same sex so I think it’s safe to say they are fraternal twins. It’s all so interesting!

That is a possibility but as far as we know on my mother’s side we do not have twins. Twins are on the mother not the father as previously thought. Fraternal twins are due to hyperovulation by the mother and this is passed down on the mother’s side by the women. So even if my husband has twins on his side it does not contribute to our having twins. I dropped two eggs because of hyperovulation and both eggs were fertilized. It’s all so interesting. Thank you!

My Godmother/Aunt had 3 sets of twins (she lost one of the second sets) so set has b/g twins (Tracy and Stacy), Jennifer (we call her Jenn. Her twin was didn't make it, b/g twins, Karen and Kevin

Wow! I cannot imagine the blessing of 3 sets of twins and also the madness! I’m sorry for your loss for the twin that didn’t make it. That was my fear when first finding out we are expecting twins.
