Finding Magick in the Mundane | Day in the life of a witchy mom

#witchvlog #witchcraft #dayinmylife
This witch vlog is filled with ideas on how to practice witchcraft with kids on a very low-key, engaging and fun level.
I share how I teach my little goblins about the wheel of year and the seasonal holidays as well as their spiritual meaning for our modern life, show what activities we enjoy to connect to Mother Nature and what books we read to foster a deeper understanding of traditions, seasonal living and environmentalism. All that and more while enjoying the summer sun - and sweating like a cheese on the windowsill.

I loved this! I had 2 step sons for over 10 years and shared my practices with them a bit by having bone fires and having them write wishes on bay leaves to toss in, take out the telescope on full moons or eclipses, and taught them a little bit of basic knot magic. I never had my own children and when I said I was sad I didn’t have a daughter to hand down my BOS to, my oldest step son said “you can give it to my daughter when I have one.” How sweet! He was only 10. Let’s see if he marries and has girls!

We both had our baby girls this May! Magic spring babies! I agree not using the term witch! I won’t use labels while teaching my daughter either but educated them about the world around them and magick with a K! I think it is important to allow them to have the freedom to choose what they want to pursue as well. I will just inspire and provide resources. This video was extremely impactful and helpful while I navigate as a new witchy mom. Thank you BEX! Big giant virtual hugs and gratitude!

What a lovely video! I have two sons who are now nearly 19 and 14 and the biggest lesson (and hard-learned) is that your children are their own people with interests and inclinations. We always shared our love and respect for nature and enjoying what is offered in the seasons and that has been ingrained. The older one is home from university right now and despite being an engineering student, he is my child who is most open to wonder-we dress up (he loves fantasy and RPG),he helps me with the garden and appreciates my unique take on things. The younger one is very different but that’s what happens when you give your children the confidence to be their own humans. 😊 I do miss mine being young but not the exhaustion…now I can vicariously experience the cuteness of your little ones (your little guy reminds me so much of my older son at that age).

I loved your intro (still grinning), and just wanted to say how wonderful it is that you're teaching your "crotch goblin" and "loin fruit" so much about (and so much respect for) the world around them. It's especially important to help them learn to harness & grow their imagination... it gives me real hope for the future to see parenting done this way. :-)

But he enjoys our dance party cleansings or when a sabbit comes around. I also agree with you with keeping the word witch out of their vocab as much as possible. My boys go to a catholic school, and I don't think my boys running around talking about witchcraft ot paganism would go over very well. Lol Keep up the great work witchy momma!😁💗

Watching you forage plantain and meadowsweet with your little lad was the wholesome energy I needed today. It reminded me of collecting sloeberries (schlehebeeren?) with my father for him to make sloe gin. I was lucky to grow up cooking, baking and gardening with both my parents and even though I'm a city druid now, I still love all the magic that comes out of the ground and out of the kitchen. I'm sure your children will get so much out of learning from nature with you.

The vending machine with milk and eggs is such a great idea, those should be everywhere, and reusable glass milk bottles. I love this, I take care of my parents (mostly my Mom my Dad does pretty well but he's in a wheelchair). OMG I LOVE that fresh milk and egg dispensers/ vending machine! I wish we had one near us but we live in Arizona and it gets HOT so it would spoil and smell 😫🤢 You sounded like Voldimort 😂 I'm with ya about being ok to wait or else it wouldn't be sacred or fun or enjoyable, I practice storm magick and living in the desert we only get storms in summer and winter seasons. When I tell someone that I live in the desert and I practice storm magick or I love storms they automatically say "Really? This isn't the place for that." or something along those lines. But I say "No, I'm glad for this situation because it allows me to miss it, see it's sacredness, it's beauty and too much of a good thing losses it's meaning or sacredness." For Samhaine you should try to bake a pumpkin cake (I used white cake and pumpkin purée) and use cherry icing, I made it 2 years ago and OMG it tastes SO good! Brommberry 😂 so cute. "A little bit of environmentalism, a little bit of respect of mother earth" *fights the tree* 😂🤣😂🤣 lmao the comedic timing there is brilliant. I love those mugs. That witch book is on my wishlist even though I don't have kids yet.

We ate seasonally only when I was a child and there is something about deprivation and the connotation of that item you missed, that made it taste better when you finally got to have it again.. Hi Bex, that was a really nice video to watch. My experiences as a witchy mom are quite similar. Both of my kids mostly want to do what I do anyway. It doesn't really matter if it's witchy or not. Most of the time they want to join. I love to teach them as many different analog activities as possible. A lot of it is connected to my craft, obviously, but it's just a lot of real life stuff as well, since I don't really have a separation between the two. I'm still thinking about the term witch, I don't call myself a witch either. But I name the tools correctly and also my altar as altar. My daughter will go to a Christian kindergarden soon. Not quite sure yet, what to expect. But if she tells people about witches, I can still tell them that we like talk about Russian Fairytales, since I grew up in post Sovjet Union / GDR times and my dad told me about Baba Yaga for example. 🙂 Pretty sure she will mention her, since she loves Baba Yaga. 😂 And if she tells people about our altar, then I'm kind of not sure what to say, but it's a place where we collect our nature finds and things we like. So nothing special about this. 😅 I think it's sad that we can't find a good name for being a witch. Still thinking about it. I have to say that it took me almost two years to figure out why being "a witch" was so stigmatized, but now I know. 😐 Back in the day, everyone was practicing magic, but baneful magic was called witchcraft and that has it all started. 😒

This video is not showing up when I opened the notification but I will definitely watch this video when it gets back up. The mundane art can be very magical, and extremely beautiful. being at reverence in the mundane makes us so much closer to nature, and allows one to tap to a rhythm and a flow, being grounded and receptive to gentleness and exuberant happiness, which makes one more receptive to pure manifestations, And the best part is that sometimes little mundane things feels like little happy pieces of beautiful art given like a gift from the world. I mean, I couldn’t imagine to myself chores being so fulfilling. Could you believe it???

My home garden is now in full swing and I made my first harvest, of beans and strawberries. I have found this very rewarding, and it feels great to walk out the back to the garden and pick fruits and herbs that I planted myself... & as you say, you never know a zombie apocalypse could happen. ... I am so sorry to talk to you about this on here but I have tried to reach you other ways in the past on insta, but I fear my mail is not getting through ... I have some horrible news !!! I have now finished reading the tiffany aching series 😭 I was crying in the book about the book itself, and also after the book when they spoke about Terry😭😭😭 I am a bit lost and don't know what to do ! .... I am going on the read where I left off in the Diskworld & lucky for me the next book is "Wyrd Sisters" so I hope to get a bit of a witchy fix from this . by the way I have been meaning to ask have you if you have read any of the other Discworld novels ?

I feel you!!! It is so easy to get swept up in being a parent - especially since your brain for most of the day has to revolve around keeping a tiny human happy and alive. I think, as with everything, practice will get you back to where you want to be. Try finding a little time to write every day - even if it is only 10 minutes before bed. In the beginning your thoughts will likely still be distracted but with time, if you know you have designate time every day, they might be able to focus ❤️
