Congrats on your motorcycle endorsement. Here my 2c, get a 650 twin from Kawasaki (ninja 650) or Suzuki (SV 650) or something similar and know in advance that you will keep that bike maybe for one year only. So, getting a used one is the best option. There's different styles and colors to choose from so that shouldn't be an issue. A 650 twin has enough power without feeling intimidated. Buy a used Honday shadow 750. They are perfect starter bikes. In a year or two you will be ready for whatever you want.

Thank you for the advice. Our very first bike, the Honda Grom was great. I will look into that Shadow as well. Thanks for the recommendation.
