Whitby in Yorkshire is the perfect example of a traditional British seaside town. Our UK travel series is coming to an end and it lead us to Whitby famous for inspiring Bram Stokers Dracula and where Captain Cook set sail. It has everything you expect from a seaside town like fish and chips, arcades and rock. But the added bonus of potentially finding fossils (ammonites, reptiles and dinosaur) really makes this a special place. The style of the buildings gives it a quintessential European feel making this a must visit on your trip to the UK.

About Travel Beans:
Welcome to the official Travel Beans KZread channel! On this channel, you’ll find a variety of travel and vlog content, in which you’ll see us in places like Thailand, Japan, USA, Slovenia, and more.
In 2017 we left home with just £500 in our bank account and a dream to make a sustainable travel lifestyle happen! We are now living our dream as digital nomads and want to inspire you to create your own story, whatever it may be!
After 5 years of aimless, yet enjoyable, backpacking around the world we found ourselves in New York City battling with depression. At this point, we decided to go home and confront this problem head on. After 6 tough months at home we decided to go away again, but this time with a goal in mind.. to turn travel into a lifestyle.
Our time spent battling depression has influenced our outlook on life dramatically! We are now traveling the world in search of what makes us happy. In our vlogs, we talk openly and honestly about our travel experiences, the digital nomad life and depression. We hope our videos can help to inspire you to create a life that makes you happy!

My grandad used to live there and still has a house there, now transformed into a holiday home :) Love Whitby so much!

We still feel like we haven't scratched the surface. Oh well that will be for another time as we have a big wide world to see 😀😍
That was a lovely video to watch and brought back some great memories for me. I used to love visiting Whitby when I was much younger, but age and infirmity means it is no longer possible. It is exactly as I remember. The fossil hunt was great fun and my, I was so envious of that hog roast sandwich! Thank you very much for posting.
You are amazing!! Great video! Really enjoyed watching! 😊❤️

Wow never heard of it but looks great. To be honest I think we have just avoided seaside towns as we were raised near one. On reflection they are not as bad as we thought
Good video
Next time you head to the beach, be sure to leave your shell and pebble collection on the shore, or you could face up to a £1000 fine
Good
Nice video guys. SUrprised to see a beach town that doesn't look like a pikey paradise (I'm looking at you Skegness). BTW, what's happened about your flat in Thailand, I may have missed it but what brought you back to the UK? Coming to the East Midlands?
3:21your best fossils.🤣

From a welsh girl, my childhood memories of eating ‘rock’ was real treat, I used to suck it whilst blowing the juice in my mouth back into the rock, it used to break it down and make it crumble , and in my opinion taste better, without breaking your teeth 😁. My favourite though were the sugar mice 😉😘✌️💕🌈
Another awesome video masterpiece 👏👏👏 The sandwich looked delicious. But, I envisioned sauerkraut & grilled onions🤣 Favorite seaside resort...Amanpulo, Philippines 🇵🇭 No fossils, but monitor lizards🤣🤣🤣 Range of sizes. The biggest is 6 feet long who is afraid of people, but devours pizza 🍕 Thanks for sharing. You guys are outstanding💪

Lizards in the Perhentian Islands, too.I enjoyed it there
You should look on the beach for Jet ,Whitby is famous for it!
As kids we used to suck rock really hard and make the end into a sharp point. Then you went and stabbed unsuspecting friends n family on their thigh, arm, but back of the hand was best..now that really hurt! 😝😂 👍
Hey Beanios, We have some fabulous seaside resorts in Britain. I'd hate people from other countries to get the wrong idea. Thanks for the video though.

Fair enough, maybe as we are both from them so we look down on them quite a lot. Most of my distain comes from the tackiness of Weston super mare. Grass is always greener and all that. Some fantastic ones in the south west tbf. Any in particular you recommend?

@@TravelBeans Hi. Thanks for taking time out to reply. Love your videos. We have many seaside towns which are well kept with proud residents, including those in Cornwall, Devon, Scotland and the closest one to me which is Southport www.visitsouthport.com I loved being up in Shetland and spending hours on the unspoilt beaches. Keep up the Beanfastic work 😃

@@TravelBeans There are a lot of seaside towns in Britain that are run down, tacky. ugly places like for example Cleethorpes, Skegness, Blackpool, Bridlington, Margate, Rhyll (can't think of any Scottish ones) but then there are equally if not more so quintessentially beautiful british seaside towns like for example Swanage, Illfracombe, Tenby, St Ives, Broadstairs, Portree, Tobermory, Scarborough, and so on. Plus there is plenty of stunning coastline in between. Thousands upon thousands of miles of coastline to explore. Britain is very fortunate to have so much coast and never more than 70 miles away. Thailand Pah! Iceland Pah! It's all here right on our doorstep.

@@daveh1247 Unless Southport has been demolished and rebuilt in the past 5 years, it's a shithole and does not compare to Whitby ...and probably never will.
i love your vlogs.where r you from dear.
You should have had the pork sandwich dipped. No need for butter or gravy then 😀
St ives is the best seaside place to visit, it has everything including the fabulous weather . But I do agree Whitby is lovely, try staithes further up the coast another gem.
I see fossils every fortnight at the local mall on pension day, In a few years time I will be called a fossil Hahaha

Not funny now!
You need a special hammer too with a chisel type end to chop at the cliffs, you find great fossils there, also if you find a big pebble try and hammer it in half, you'll be surprised what you'll find inside.
@only-vans

DO NOT chop at the cliffs. The natural erossion in the area is bad enough without some knobhead carving away at the cliffs.
"According to your sources" ............ as in Curry sauce (with chips !) ??
I love you ammaa

I'll assume lol is punctuation around those parts.
Whitby used to be my favourite town in the UK, I would spend a lot of hard earned money in the small local shops, grocers and butchers to help the local economy. I would be still if it were not for Scarborough council banning campervans from parking in carparks overnight. Scarborough council bowed to the complaints from B&B owners and the WAY out of town caravan site, that campervans were parking in carparks ( even though we paid the 9 quid to park overnight) rather than stay in a very expensive B&B or the caravan park. That was 2 years ago, Whitby and Scarborough are now on the campervanners boycott list. We don't go there anymore. GRIPE OVER You missed one of Whitby's BESTEST EVER shops. Fortunes Kippers ( you can google them), trot down those 199 abbey steps, turn right 180 degrees, follow your nose about 100 yards or so. BOOM!, best smokehouse in the world ever. those kippers are sold worldwide, they are usually sold out by 11am each day. They also sell kipper pate. Ingredients: Kippers, double cream. I bought 2 tubs, one of the tubs didn't make it back to the van. Somebody, about my size, was scooping and eating pate with his finger. Now you need to go back to Whitby.
You Jet ed into Whitby and never mentioned Whitby Jet once. Look it up.🧔👸 we are😒
