Find the Agendas - Replay Review: Netrunner Fundamentals // Android: Netrunner

Ойындар

Today we take a deep dive into a community submitted replay (huge shoutout to Chillstad!), to dissect a matchup between a no-frills Zahya list, and a industrious Asa Group. We have a lot to focus on, and many questions to be asking. Hopefully this replay review will help cement some strong note-taking skills, teach us to quickly divide by five, and allow us to structure some strong turns.
This is a relatively new form of content on this channel, so any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!

Dude! More of this, MORE! THose are great! It's the exact 'stepping stone' that is needed after the 'ok, I read the rulebook and I know how the game works'. It's AMAZING for new players, GREAT for established players and still an AMAZING tool for 'pros' as it can spark debate on how they see diff strats and so on. A+, 10/10, DO recommend

I wish you would do more of these! As a new player trying to get into the game, this is the content I wish there was more of. One of the biggest hurdles of getting into Netrunner is how experienced the rest of the playing field is. I go on jnet and I lose every single game. I can't learn by playing other beginners. And all of the content made for Netrunner on YT seems to be for longtime players. And obviously we need that content too. But man, you are so good at breaking down the basics and the thought processes that players need to adopt. I've learned more here than losing 20 games on jnet getting crushed by meta decks. I implore you, more please!

Curious about another line at 32:14. With no cards in archives, and the knowledge that there isn't an installable in HQ, Drafter is effectively blank this turn. So Wake implant, run HQ, run HQ, run R&D would get you the top three cards of R&D knowledge, buying you more time potentially to search for breakers to contest the remote, and 2 more credits from Zahya. Only snag is the meat damage would hit either bahia bands or Earthrise, which is a bit tough.

The early game is tricky. As the Runner, you have to balance early pressure with setting up. The Runner's first turn was legitimately pretty sick, and I reckon we're in a much better place than the Corporation. That often means that if we continue to setup, we'll continue to be ahead of the Corp. We also mentioned that we lose if we don't set up our breakers and multi-access soon enough. While it's both rare and genuinely neat to identify a useless Drafter, trading an entire turn for two additional access on R&D, at the cost of setting up, is probably a difficult line. The early WAKE is cool, but once a card hits Archives, we can no longer full send through the Drafter. Particularly with a Bahia Bands in hand, which allows us to 'lock' the top of the deck while still setting up, I think we're best off just setting up. It's a neat line to consider though, for sure.

Hi, thanks for the video! I'm wondering - because the runner won, despite the fact that as you say the corp's play was relatively clean and you've highlighted many suboptimal plays made by the runner. What could the corp have done differently so they could have won? Or did they just get super unlucky? Or is the corp's deck heavily outmatched by the runner's in this matchup (should they have made some deckbuilding choices to improve their chances)? Thanks!

Hey snek! That's a great question: The main "trick" in the Corp's deck is to setup mean Ganked loops, alongside the tutoring of Tucana. The Corporation never rezzed a Tucana all game, and they had some really good opportunities to do so. During the remote challenge at 47:29, if the Corporation rezzed the Tucana, they could have fetched and installed an Ansel 1.0 from their deck. You know how we focused on not running last click? Now the Ganked! throws the Runner back into the Ansel 1.0, and because the Runner can't break any subroutines (no clicks nor no breakers), the Ansel fires infinitely (reinstalling the same Ganked! over and over). The Corporation wipes the entirety of the Runner's board, including the irreplaceable decoder and the multi-access engine, and sort of wins on the spot. That's a huge play. Otherwise, on a smaller point, I don't love how the Corporation's early game played out. It's really easy to want to try and rush out a Luminal Transubstantiation, but the Remote Enforcement was definitely the preferable agenda to push out first. We talked about how the Runner loses to a remote server with upgrades, and the Remote Enforcement is functionally a free Tyr on the remote server. That's a really easy board state to snowball into the mid-game. There is, like always, a lot more that one could dissect, but those are the two big points that quickly come to mind. Glad you enjoyed the video, eh!

Glad you enjoyed it! I have one more video like this up on the channel - kzread.info/dash/bejne/l4Sjlq9tn7badaQ.html - it is similarly a Criminal versus HB matchup, but in the context of a much older card pool. The fundamental principles are still the same, but the cards are a bit different. I unfortunately have no replay reviews yet that focus on Corporation play. I'm hoping to get some more up on the channel in the near future. Thanks for the kind words, eh!

Thanks you so much for your content! We have rekindled a scene of about 4 players in my small town and I have probably watched 20+ hours of you content in the last few week. Most of us have some old cards but weren't able to find playgroups in the past so we we're going to start with the eternal format. I don't see a lot of content around this and am wondering why, is it broken wide open/ needs a better ban list? We're all still relearning so if you have some insight on how to keep the power level even-ish with some house rules it would be much appreciated. I watched your ban list history vid and was thinking of banning currents, so don't feel obliged to run them in every deck to counter pleople playing them. Thanks again

Welcome (back?) to the game! I'm glad you've been digging the game and the channel. Eternal is just simply not very popular right now. Standard and Startup provide enough for most people, and a lot of the older FFG cards are impossible to source, (notably, proxies are legal at all levels of organized NSG events) so most newer players don't bother. Eternal is also by far the highest power-level format - the good decks are really, really, good - and so as a result, the 'playable' card pool ends up feeling smaller than in other formats. If you're looking to play exclusively with older FFG cards, I'd recommend checking out the 'Snapshot' format, which is a snapshot of what was legal at the final FFG World Championship in 2018. From what I remember, that was a very enjoyable meta. But most importantly, whatever you decide to do with your local meta, just have fun! My concerns about Eternal's power level only exist if you try and push it to the competitive limit. Whatever you and your friends do will definitely be a blast. If y'all aren't finding Currents to be fun, just axe them. It can be that easy. Cheers!
