You might wish to consider a custom cutting board with feet as a beautiful way to keep the induction top protected. You may find one already sized to cover it or you can custom order one. You wouldn't have to worry about what you keep in that upper cabinet; nor worry about anything accidentally falling onto it while you carry/move items pass it or near it. Due to the boards weight, it would easily stay in place. Just a thought, as some look quite beautiful and wouldn't detract from the beauty of your home at all.

It's great to see you both travelling through our area. We now live in Nuneaton, a stones throw away from the Coventry canal, but we are so familiar with Leamington, Warwick and Hatton from previous homes. It's good to see that the cafe and shop is still thriving at the bottom of the locks. I used to drive there for my lunch. Best Wishes, Dave and Soph xx

Thank you for taking me up the Hatton Flight with you. It took 4 of you around 4 hours. I think my brother was correct to say "no" to me as with double locks and if not set in our favour and no other boaters to help it would be very slow for us, plus would need to descend them within a few days, so my captain wins. I havent seen white covers over the lock winding mechanism. And tunnels never look wide enough for 2 boats --never had to test that out. Frustrating about the glass hob, these things do happen but recon youve had enough mishaps to last the year. Really enjoyed the vlog, thank you, happy cruising xxx

Many years ago, we did the Warwich circle in a 2 week holiday with my dad and my brother and his wige and 2 boys, we had a hreat time but during the Hatton flight, it started raining at the botten and stopped just as we came out at the top, we moored up not long after and all got dried and changed, you had better weather but what an experience, well done to you

Shame about the smashed hob but great that it was an "off the shelf" item that could be easily replaced. I certainly like the idea of covering with a wooden chopping board and will be looking out for one to cover the glass sink cover in our motorhome.

@@anthonysmith-storey9247 spending the weekend preparing our motorhome for a trip to Austria. We've been going there for the last 30 years so have plenty of experience of the countries en route. This will be the first time in our "Mytsy" motorhome and, as a 'just in case' measure I've been busy fitting a 2kw inverter to run from the leisure batteries. Just in case we have to stop somewhere without mains power. Also, as I'm a radio amateur, I've been fitting a set of 12volt power connecters so I can take some radio equipment with us. Keeps us busy in our 'free' time 😜 Oh, drinking beer and wine too. Though not at the same time. Hope the weather is good to you this weekend.

That was lovely! Once again the way the old technology of the locks and tunnels are fascinating as you boat through a living museum. That scene with Anthony cutting the grass with scissors looked really funny--were you looking for ant piles? And that scene in the pub--as I sit here in Florida waiting for a hurricane to blow by offshore and the rains and winds have started--certainly made me with I was there with you!

A shame about the cooker hob. But the magician somehow made the broken one disappear and a new one appear as if by magic... 😮 It's a shame he wasn't a juggler and caught that falling jar in the first place... 😂 Never mind, soon sorted. The generator kicking in is probably auto controlled to maintain battery level at the pre-determined rate. It seemed to do its job on this occasion. Where did that rain shower come from? That wasn't in the script. Twenty-one lock rise... did your ears pop?😂

My heart sank when he told me Harry. Definitely a shame he didn’t juggle. It definitely is exactly that re the generator. I think Liam said he has increased the wattage level so it doesn’t come until we are consuming much more. Typical British weather Harry 😂. Definitely wasn’t in the script. Great video - You could have done with an electric (battery powered) winch (I have just invented one in my head!!) - It could even be solar charged. It would take the backache out of the flights of locks. But there is a possibility that canal boaters would miss the sweating and heaving? You have already lost your diesel engine sound. All looks good on the boat! Keep cranking!!

The double locks on the Grand Union were built in the 1920s, as you said. The old single width locks were turned into the bywash channels ("overflow"). You can often see where the single width gates were fitted: one lock near me has the metal gate quoin piece with a date of 1899 on it. The cutout in the stone or brickwork where the gates opened into as also usually still there.

It looked like your skylights were open while going through the tunnel, and it was streaming down water at one point, any water get inside? Wondering if the fact that they're angled helps? Did you know these locks were used as a filming location by the chuckle brothers for many years in the 90s. The CRT building/warehouse was used as their house in Chucklevision for a good few years! I was a massive fan growing up and definitely think this contributed to my interest/love of canals! Love the new boat by the way, have followed you from the start just don't often comment!

Bugger that was annoying breaking a brand new cooker , still all sorted with not too Much fuss. Really made us laugh going through that tunnel. We reckon it was you Paul making those funny noises going through the tunnel not Pete🤪also when we get ants coming in our motorhome ( which we did in Spain ) we just spray fly spray onto the guy rope or wherever they are getting in. Spray it thick and it looks like mr sheen wax. They hate it and stop coming in. ☮️

So annoyed about the hob, especially as Anthony had to make a detour and obviously the cost. That’s a good tip re the fly spray. That was one of our favourite tunnels 😁

The batteries can’t discharge high voltages for prolonged periods due to heat and require additional support through generators to reduce conversion loads and cool batteries.

It would be interesting to know how often you require fuel in comparison to your travelling companions and the cost savings of solar in general. Simply cruising without engine noises and hearing the boat cutting through the water is so relaxing and peaceful.

Paul, with your details on power used you're leading in introducing this technology for mean stream boaters. However there is of course a huge difference in cruising canals rather than navigating rivers channels and lakes, here in the Netherlands where Narrowboating is not really a good idea. It's really nice to see how you experience life on the beatifull Britisch canal's

Lovely views thanks for sharing. I’ve been fighting ants pretty hard , seems it was a good year for them, I pulled out a weed on the edge of my concrete patio and several hundred came charging out to attack me, brave little beggers. I’ll surely come back in my next life as an ant, a spider or an earwig because I’ve killed so many of them. I’m having a worry some day, my cat Jynx started crying yesterday and ended up in animal emergency hospital with blocked bladder and urethra. We discovered he’d not had a wee in at least 2 days and when they unblocked him found a lot of blood and crystals in the urine . His blood showed elevated kidney levels so they kept him overnight, they are going to do repeat levels in a couple of hours and that should tell them if they can safely take them catheter out now or over another night $2300. so far😳 but what can you do , he’s my baby boy, follows me everywhere and I’d be pretty lonely at times without him. Cross your fingers for him please.🤞 Have a lovely weekend 🙋🏼‍♀️🥰

Loved the vlog, what a tiring long day! Keep some Nippon ant powder on board, it’s absolutely brilliant stuff. I had to use it for flying ants on one outside wall of the house we had. It would most definitely keep ants from getting on board if put along the chains. Be careful as I don’t think it’s safe for Dexter.

Glad you enjoyed Christine. We had a great, if not tiring day. The dish was called minced beef with tumbles spuds. The potatoes were par boiled, drained and then shook in the pan and mixed with butter and plenty of salt and pepper. Placed onto the casserole and oven baked. It is a lovely meal. Hi Paul, Anthony and Dexter-Dog. What a beautiful and relaxing cruise. Sorry that you had an incident with your Glass Hob. Considering that Hobs are designed not to crack with the intense heat when cooking, I was surprised a small bottle falling from a short height actually smashed the glass! You were getting some good Solar being generated for the time of day. Are your solar panels 100w? I was impressed with your battery check before you commenced your cruise. The view looking down on the stern with Dexter standing so close to Anthony was really nice to see. Is this normal for Dexter, or will he sometimes settle down on the stern, but no so close up and personal? Very cute though. The tunnel as very leaky. Did you get any water getting into the cabin through the skylight? That must be reassuring when you hear the Genny click-in. Really enjoyed this weeks Vlog. Nicely edited with no opening titles this week. It all worked really well. Thank you and Take care. Spoolbox.

Hey Spoolbox. Glad you enjoyed. Was gutted when the hob broke. It is weird that a small bottle could do so much damage. Total solar is just shy of 2kW. Dexter used to be unsettled on the old boat. He does still like to be close to us but will also go down in the boat now and settle. No water from the tunnel thankfully. It is reassuring to see the generator kick in when needed. Really enjoying this canal trip! Any trip is always better with friends ! How do you like the lighter covers? I think on your first boat they were black but this boat builder suggested having a lighter cover would make it nicer to sit out there when the covers were on - do you find this to be true or is it still too nice to need the covers on so you don’t know yet?

@@iand1297 hi Ian. The living wall has an integral frame that is full of water. It feeds the plants via osmosis. There is a watering can indicator that drops down when it needs re watering. We also put plant food in there too. Glad you like it ❤️

Hi, I am now subcontracted to the NHS. I am a Sonographer working in the community for adult medicine. Love my job so can’t imagine giving it up completely, plus I am way too young to retire 😉 😂

It can be John. It depends on the consumption of power and how often you travel I guess.

Don't them cables on your solar panels cause problems with charging.making them less efficient
