man I bought a xg300 today it's even better than my JBL boom box I absolutely love it just the right size ..that handle ..the update and sound is perfect bass kicks god I love this speaker it's my new fav 😂 why all those other reviewers talk bad about it are you kidding me are they crasy this thing sounds awesome and it's loud to even outside also I have 2 xb33s I connected them with the 300 and woah omg I can't even imagine how that huge 500 sounds

Android users: activate LDAC (its a MUST), lower the lower frequencies dedicated for the bass BUT activate mega bass because all standard EQ profiles have to much bass on it. It kills the details of the voice and guitars. For EDM use a bass profile so the bass goes deeper. Megabass ON but frequencys down, it just lowers the deep bass but the upper ones keep hitting. Just tested this (xg300) and an jbl extreme side by side and wow, WAY more details on sonys speaker

Great review! You made me laugh with what you said at 11:54 😆. I was into JBL too coz everytime I test and compare speakers before I buy, JBL almost always wins for me. However, this sony XG300 just hits the right spots for me(compared to JBL xtreme 3). I think it's the same with my preference to music, I don't really tend to be a fan of specific artists/singers. As long as they sound good and pleasing to my ears, I'm down!👌

I have one xg300 strapped to the front of my moped, but its not loud enough, so im gonna get 2 and hopefully that will make it really good

I just got an XG500. When I turn it on, it constantly plays loud static. This may simply be an issue with just this one unit. However, trying to troubleshoot the issue leaves me with some questions. How do you prevent random strangers from connecting to the speaker? Is there a way to clear or disable connected devices? Is there a way to turn off Bluetooth entirely? I wanted to check if perhaps the speaker was picking up a signal from some other device in the area, but I wasn't able to figure out how to turn Bluetooth off.

I just bought an XG300 speaker and when I select STROBE mode light effect it's not actually a strobe, instead random colors are changing. Does yours has the same behaviour when on STROBE?

Yes! It's a strange light option that doesn't do what it claims to do. Strobe is supposed to be white flashing lights. It was on the previous models.

hi... i have the same one. Did you notice if it makes a pit pit sound when turning on the sound?

My local Target has the xg300 on clearance for $105. It seems as though there’s a break in period for this speaker. Sounding better the more I use it.

Hey! Can someone check if your Sony xg500 have noise (hissing) from twitters while idle? I found it on my xg500 yesterday and it drives me crazy since. Much obliged!

Is it still going strong? They scored high 80s on Meritmeter.

It may not be just a weight consideration with the charging for the 500. Internal acoustics may be affected with the placement of the components. Also the charge time may be affected. How many watts is the brick charger compared with USB-C? I woulde imagine it could take a lot longer to charge such a large speaker battery.

I'm skeptical that the DC charger is really pushing more than 240 watts, which is the max usbc 4.0 charge rate. It is probably just cheaper

Is still the XG300 the best to fill out room vs the Motion Boom Plus ? .. like after a year of used.. thanks and very great videos!

In my opinion, yes. I prefer the warmer sound of the XG300 over the Motion Boom Plus. This is just something that is going to vary with every set of ears.

That's the one I'm on. It had been a loooong time since I had used them because I was doing a lot of JBL and Soundcore content.

Got the xg500 for $160 and it's an amazing speaker. Only downsize is that is too big to carry around . You will feel it when you carry all the gear for the beach. I think its a great party speaker for everything else . Got myself the wonderboom 3 to carry around when I want to be jamming in the water or just go on walks

It's a little while that I just want to buy a Sony speaker to explore their own sound how it would be in my ears experience. I have JBL speaker almost the time at meantime I have the headphones Sony XM5 I just upgraded from the oldier version XM 3 in this department Sony makes my day every time.

Yep! The XE200 is still a little weak sounding, but the XE300 sounds a lot better. Unfortunately, the JBL Charge 5 still smashes the XE300 in sound.

True man. The Sony XE model is not a good investment. Go for XG instead. Save up a little as it's a little expensive but it's gonna last.

I have the XV800 the xg300 and the xb-23 I LOVE, absolutely LOVE the XV800. Its sound quality is amazing. The xg300 is great and kind of sounds like the XV800 but just in smaller. The xb-23 I don't like that much. Only thing it has going for it is it is portable. The sound quality is mediocre IMO, it lacks any depth to it.

It's more comparable to the extreme 3.

I need another speaker like I need a whole in the head (my catchphrase lol) but the X600 is tempting. Especially after knowing it sounds better after the firmware update. Also, I noticed it’s going for $100 refurbished on eBay. I have the Soundcore Motion Boom and I love that speaker. But aesthetically the Sony looks WAY better.

2 xg300s sounds great I have 2, but once I had the chance to here xg500s, they sound like something else! They sound super dope focusing on 1 chanel!

Thats a completely different speaker. The x600 is aimed at clarity, fine details and spatial sound, on the other hand these sonys have more power and more bass.

The X600 sounds REALLY good due to the spatial sound. I used to keep it in my kitchen until I updated the XG300. As far as a comparison, I don't think one is better than the other, for me... it was personal preference of the warmer sounds from Sony and compatibility with my XG500 and XV800 for "whole-home" setup.

I have 2 xb33 and a xb23, and with the stereo pairing and party connect buttons the pairing works super easy and very quick, while via app it takes longer and sometimes its buggy. So I dont like they removed the buttons. So please Sony: bring back the pairing buttons! And unbug the app.

@@LindonSlaght yeah, I had 2 tribit speakers and the range was about 1/3 of that of the Sonys (that were small tribit speakers though, maybe their big ones are better). Also a friend has 2 jbl flip and they also have less range. Soundcore also has less range. I'd say you can put the Sonys abot ~10m apart for a real stable connection (if there is no obstacles between). jbl/soundcore ~5m. small tribit ~3m, Rough estimates.

Bro, I bought the xg300 renewed on Amazon, it's OK, not great, so I found the xg500 on amazon also renewed for under 200, haven't received it yet, holy shit the size difference is appalling. I will be returning the 300. Not enough ooomph. Pretty weak above 60-70%.

Wow, how original.. if they're so bad, how do so many people enjoy them everyday? And if they're so poor quality why have my XB33's lasted almost 3 years of use without any detriment to functionality? It sounds like you don't actually have any meaningful evidence that Sony makes bad speakers, rather you have a brand bias and you came to shout it from the rooftops. No hate if you like JBL, Soundcore, whatever. However, that's a ridiculous claim and I know this is the internet but I still think we can expect a little more maturity than that.

@@LindonSlaghtlove their headphones but I hate their Bluetooth speakers. Their monitor speakers are great. When it comes to Bluetooth, Sony sucks in my opinion. I really think it’s because Sony is a company that does too much. They can’t be the market leader in every product category. They only have so many resources and they focus very little on BT speakers compared to Playstation their movies or their headphones etc.

Believe me that my HiFi equipment is also sweet and considering this I can say Sony made the XG300 popping out a really good sound. If you like a "blaster" then you will go for JBL. If you care about sound quality then you choose something else(Vifa,Anker,Enkl). In the end is all about what you want to hear,comparing them is hard because the purpose is totally different,you will have 50/50 in most of the situations

​@donjuandemarco4115 iphone user ? Because without LDAC you're missing a lot. Jbls are V shaped default EQ. Heavy bass and pitched voice, good for blasting rap, rnb, edm outdoors. For clarity the Sonys just destroy the jbls.

These $100-$200 speakers will never be able to replicate those frequencies with accuracy. To believe that you are delusional and the perfect demographic for Sony’s marketing team. You think with the price of adding batteries waterproofing Bluetooth wireless connecting protocols that it’ll produce the same sound as a bookshelf speaker of the same price. Dude it’s math they could possibly give you all that for that price. If it were true then everyone is getting robbed on high end speakers.
