the two main types of implants are silicone and saline. The shell of the implants can be either textured (which reduces capsular contracture) or smooth. A textured implant sometimes requires a larger incision. The shape of the implant can be either round or tear drop shaped (gummy bear). Both have their advantages and disadvantages. The different types of implant offer different pros and cons. For instance, the pros of silicone implants are that they look and feel more natural and ripple less. On the other hand, the pros of saline implants are that they do not require as large of an incision as silicone, less expensive, they have less incidence of capsular contracture (scarring around the implant), one can tell immediately if there is a rupture, the size can be slightly adjusted, and they can be used for women less than 22 years of age.

Thats a great question I get in the office all of the time. Gummy bear implants are actually silicone implants but are a more cohesive type of silicone, kinda like a gummy bear. Imagine cutting a gummy bear in half, nothing runs out of it, thats basically the same concept. There are shaped and round gummy bear implants, both of which have their advantages and disadvantages. Wish you would have a strong male squeeze them TBH. The silicone started sticking to the glass and now I'm concerned if it does that in the pocket leading to contracture.🤦🏻‍♀️

@@barrettplasticsurgery that makes me think about how you have to be over 22 years of age for Silicon because I’m from Australia so it might be different here and it sounds weird for it to be 22 years and not 18 or 21

I also got Mentor saline implants through my bellybutton a month ago. they feel so natural already( with submuscular both implants feel just same) its even more natural when I lie down. They spread out like real boobs. In my opinion saline bags with Tuba procedure is the best!
