I own 315 acres in Clay County. When I bought it and old timer warned me to be careful stomping through the woods cause they used to gold mine back in there.

Yo, what’s up!!! I’m the Alabama chapter!! Haha I did leave some of what o think was helpful comments to some of your subscribers that left comments. I liked and subscribed to your channel because I liked this video and scrolled through your other rock hounding and other videos and I’m gonna watch them all I think. This is where I do almost all of my research to learn more though I have been doing this for years. Haha I did say almost all my research. More research on websites where I can get the “lay of the land” and other resources from. Looking forward to seeing what I can learn from ya. I may even do a KZread channel one day but right now I’d rather watch you guys when I can go out and when I do have time to go out I hit the road running!!! Good content man! Thank you. Sry this was so long

Enjoyed the video. Good info. I'm in Alabama, so ofcourse I felt you should have added an offer to spend 2 days of in person training, but I mean who wouldn't want that if this is a new found hobby of which I have zero knowledge, and a truck load of interest

I live in alabama, and this place is a near geological dead zone, there was a gold mine near mid alabama, but it was not big, and was emptied some 100 years ago. you might still find trace gold around that area...but gold is not a big thing here...now when they were doing some blasting around the mountains here in huntsville, there were large boulders getting blown apart, inside them were pockets of crystals..SMALL pockets and some had gold inside them...one of my buddies, saw at one of these boulders with about 10 oz of gold in it...but the workers had gotten to it before his return. Thats why im here to see where i can find some shale rock, or low grade gems to work on with my flex shaft.

There was more than 18 gold mines in Alabama. I’m thinking more than 30 before the California gold rush. There is not much at all around the Huntsville area as it is too far north. I live in Alabama myself my whole life and have been even to California prospecting during my work trips. More gold Gadsden Alabama and to the south of Gadsden until just north of Montgomery. All to the east side of the state. There are actually lots of gold here in Alabama in those areas just like Georgia are north Georgia and not South Georgia. You can find traces of a little gold even all the way up to Kentucky but on hit and miss spots. The best thing to do is REALLY LEARN PROSPECTING and THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PROSPECTING AND MINING. Haha From what I have learned in all my years of prospecting and mining is that people do not really learn the difference between the two. You prospect to find the location you want to mine the gold. Once you find the mining spot you have to change the whole ballgame to get the gold you want. :) I hope this helps. I hope you guys hit the mother lode in Huntsville! I’m only about 45 minutes away from there but my experience in Alabama is to stay south of Gadsden. :).

There are no lands to "MAKE A CLAIM" in Alabama . All land is private and "posted" by law. The public land in the Talladega Forrest Is restricted as to the type of prospecting allowed. Reading this pamphlet that is available on-line is not really helping anybody. I have been to most of the areas in Central Alabama and can tell you the key to prospecting here is Permission, Permission, permission!!! Beginners should go to the Alabama Gold Camp at Cragford, Alabama.

I’ll research the county a little for you and if I see anything I’ll come back and post it here for ya. Good family time for you and the youngster. My kids loved going with me but they are older now. 😞
