It is not actually what voilet said. You won't find it in the movie. It's a quote that I found on pinterest before, "She was too busy fixing others to notice she was the one coming undone." and then I remembered violet saying, "He saved my life, why can't I save his" because it's obviously too late. When I saw this fmv I thought it applies, and the message is there generally, so I quoted it in violet's fov. Sorry to confuse ya'll.

*Lesson learned today* I'm a boy, and I went throught this, and this movie is the only movie I cried at, after Titanic, out of 100 movies. I rewatched this movie 3 times already and I just realise how many signs Finch showed that he was the real depressive, in this movie. "Because she smiled at me" - when he wrote on paper and puted it on wall, I wondered why did he wrote "Because". I realised now : "I'm not killing myself YET, because she smiled at me". That's heartbreaking. I just thought he just did some dramatic "scuba" in his bathroom. He tried to see how much can he resist underwater, then tried again in the lake. And how it really feels. When he scared Violet. At the end, his sister breaks his heart by calling his dad a shitty person who can't be changed and made him feel that he doesn't matter, cause Finch thought he was messy too, like his dad. He said to Violet "My sister is all I have". His sister breaking his heart was his awakeness.. When Violet said "I was here", and Finch told ther he would steal this quote for him, that was a sign. A sign he wouldn't be there much time. In the group consiliation when Amanda said she wanted to kill herself twice you can see his face. He looked amazed, he was going through same thing. The saddest part is, his friends didn't know it. They thought it was only a dark mood. Finch always hesitated to be called "weird" (when he watched Violet at the table at school), cause it was heartbreaking for him. In reality, Finch didn't trust them and didn't take them as friends as they thought. And many more. Amanda asking him "Aren't you tired of people talking about you?". Like, that sounded so mean somehow. When you're depressed, you can understand this as a "Go do it already. Why are you even trying. Aren't you tired?". *Love the people around you, no matter what. You know your people. Act when something is going on there, don't stop when they tell you. Love. Love them even if you're homies, besties, stop the gay shit or shamy things etc. Be there for everyone. Make them really think they're not alone*

You know what happened to me after I watched this movie for the very first time. I felt some kind of vibration inside me. I turned off my laptop and started walking. I came out of my house and started cycling. And later, I ride and ride for a few miles. I smiled and cried at the moment. I felt so surreal that it is hard to put into words. And later, I called my friend who suggested me to watch this movie. I called her and asked if we could meet for a moment. She said yes, and I held my emotions for a few minutes inside me. I still remember very clearly, I was on a bicycle, outside of the cafe, waiting for her. She came, and we went inside the cafe, and I just burst out. I cried like an idiot. The only thing that affected me the most was Finch knew when Violet had her tough time, and he supported her and made her understood as well that things happen, and this is your time. I would help you and you gotta stand by me when I may be going through the same. He was going through all the time, and in the end, he didn't have one. I cried and cried over the last poem. How we find things so simple sometimes. All we need to do as humans is to love and support each other. And that work is not at all hard. You gotta listen to them, listen to everyone, and the ones who need to be heard, to be seen. We, as generations, are getting more mature and more lonely sometimes. As you said, you know your people, and you gotta be with them. I have found my people, and I am gonna stick to them in thin and thick. Love and Happiness!

today, i found this unexpectedly 5 years ago, i found all the bright places in a thrift bookstore, i bought it 4 years ago, i met the guy who i never thought would change my life forever 3 years ago, we became a couple 2 years ago, he committed suicide and died. 1 year ago, as i was decluttering my things, i saw this book and realized i never touched it after i bought it, so after weeks of thinking if i'm ready to read it, i finally did all the bright places is one of the story i would never forget. it will always have a place in my heart because I never related to a novel this much. It's like the book speaks our story-him and me. there's just so much similarities. here's some. 1. Finch was really tall. He was. 2. Finch had bipolar disorder. I have. 3. Finch runs. I walk. 4. They both like Virginia Woolf. I love Woolf. 5. Finch was smart. He was also. 6. Violet loves to write. I do too. 7. Finch was called freak. I was called weird. 8. Finch relax on bath tub. I- under shower. 9. Finch always had facts and trivia. He had facts and trivia too. 10. Finch painted his bedroom blue. I did too. 11. Finch had a long scar in his abdomen. He had one in his arm. 12. Finch had a safe place-in his closet. I-under my table. 13. Violet gave Finch a book as a birthday present. I gave him one too. 14. Finch almost always planned their trips. I did to. 15. Before Finch died, he and Violet we're together to celebrate his birthday. We were too before he died. 16. Finch went missing before he drowned himself in a lake. That's what i've been planning even before i knew this book. 17. Like Violet, I learned to live from a boy who wants to die and died.

This move is one of my absolute favourites. I see myself so much in Finch, wanting to help others and forgeting about taking care of myself. I watch this video from time to time to remind myself not to get lost in other peoples problems around me and to always look after myself aswell. This movie hit me in the most emotional way. I lost a friend to suicide a few days after watching this, then found a bookmark he had signed while we were in high school that said he “was here”. Then last week, I lost another friend the same exact way, and we are still finding his “I was Here” marks. Whether it be in the video games he played with my husband and other friends, or messages he sent. Both of them left such a big mark on this world... I just wish they would’ve realized that before they decided to leave it.

Okay random stranger on the internet... My story time for whoever wants to listen. Back in 2018 I fell in love with a girl. She matched me evenly and I honestly thought we won't ever change or ever grew apart. ATBP was her favourite book of all time (Besides Harry Potter of course), and we both associated with a lot of characteristics from Violet and Finch. ATBP became our little secret. The part of us that made us unique. I still remember reading the book to her on the beach. She had already finished the book at that time, but the ending was still a mystery to me. I loved reading to her and she loved being read to. We wrote quotes on all the adventures we went on to having. It was our special place. With her being a lot like Violet at the time, and me being a lot like Finch and what he has to deal with throughout the story, we always feared that (Spoiler alert) we would end up like both of them at the end of the novel. That Violet will have her own sticky note without the Finch. Only thing is, in this story it was not Finch that decided to go. She did. Right before we broke up, I decided to take on a new challenge for her. To learn Before You Go on my guitar (Check out Gareth Evans' lessons for this one, trust me). I didn't finish the song in time though. After the breakup, it was the thing that kept me going. A reason to go on. I finished the song and sent it to her, with the hopes of it sparking something again, as she loved to listen to me play... It didn't A year and 3 months after she left me, I am still constantly reminded of her. Songs, quotes, notes she left on my computer. And then at very strange times I would get a KZread recommendation like this one. One where two of the most significant pieces of my past that held the most pain would come together and pop up on my recommendation screen out of nowhere. Btw, she didn't want to watch the movie, as it would spoil the visuals she created in her mind from the book. I thought it was a solid watch, but nowhere near to what Jennifer Niven depicted in her novel Thanks for reading. Sometimes I just want to vent a little :) Enjoy your life, strange companion

You were created a beautiful person with great ideas, a beautiful smile and unique features that come together to form the unique and amazing portrait of you. if you feel that there is something broken about you and you can't be fixed, i want you to think about this. Most people see a broken vase as ruined and having lost its beauty, but when fixed by a master craftsman that vase with all its cracks and maybe even missing pieces can be made into a completely new and unique one, it may take a different shape but becomes a beautiful masterpiece to be admired. I found my answer to this problem in Jesus through reading the bible, He will take away the pain and He will never leave you. He was the master craftsman i needed and He can do the same for you if you'll let Him.

When I tried to let them in, I realized there is no one there

The first time I watched this movie, I stayed up all night til dawn, crying and thinking of the pain they both went through. It really pains me to think that some of us (in reality) really go through those type of things. So if you know someone going through these hard times/pains, check on them, remind them of their importance in your life. Also, don't be too busy checking on others that you forgot to check on yourself, take care my dear, know that no matter what, someone somewhere loves you, and there's always a light at the end of the tunnel. To anyone who needs this: Hold on, continue to have faith and hope, life can get crazy but there's still a lot of amazing things out there for you 💚💚💚

I remember The day when I watched this masterpiece way back ... I can't explain in words though let me try . I shivered badly from head to toe... My body hardened due to that cold... I wanted to cry but didn't. Tears were not ready to stop falling from my eyes...😥😥😥He was dying from inside but taught her how to live the fullest. Aaaahhh.... The Pain , that pain pierced my heart like an iron nail . Still when I think about that , my heart start become heavy , my eyes squinted to prevent the tears again and again. Loved this movie seriously ❤️ I would like to recommend to watch this atleast once . You will be introduced with the beauty of love.

Whenever I hear this song I feel like this belongs to Finch and Violet and now here it is. The song where it actually belongs. This is a beautiful compilation. And it's sad but it makes me feel alive and contended every time I hear it...

i once felt the same like theodore. feeling so suffocated inside but because someone did something, as little as smiling at me, i decided to stay. i read the book after i had emotionally healed and it destroyed me. it made me realise that there are people out there that would feel like violet even if it seemed like there wouldn’t be any.

I opened Netflix and the trailer of this movie started played. I found it interesting and decided to watch it. It was late and I had school work the next day (At-home school). I decided that I would watch a bit and complete the rest the next day. When I started I couldn't stop. I finished the movie that night and went to bed. The next morning while I was showering I started crying. I couldn't stop crying. It was like Finch's death just sank in. I'm crying while typing this right now. He did not deserve to do that way. I kept on crying in t hj e shower, wondering how many people out there have gone like this and how many more are still out there struggling to STAY AWAKE. Finch just wanted to stay awake. I am planning to study Pediatric medicine and surgery, but after seeing this movie, I am thinking of studying psychiatry medicine. I just want to help someone. I want to be able to help someone stay awake and focus. I dont want people to die like this.

Yahia Yahia all the bright places. You should go right ahead and watch this. I just finished this movie and it was so good. I cried a lot and this may be the only movie which made me cry this much.

It was a good film but I felt the ending was rushed. He cycled into that depression very quickly and that was not something fleshed out. Then the grieving was also done a rapid speed. Being married to a psychologist really skews my view on it though.

John Moore but they couldn’t show every sides in just a movie. yeah it was rushed but he was bipolar and suffering from depression way before violet did.

@@arandomgurl1510 His bipolar condition was never fleshed out. Without knowing what he is going through he seemed like a kid who was suffering depression related to childhood trauma. Add in bipolar and it explains a lot more.

Exactly knew that he is going to be the next of his "father" behavior And then couldn't find any helpful method to heal himself Finally ended up himself drowned by the river I didn't say anything wrong of his choice, just remember that you all who going through the darkest times rn, there is always some people who truly care bout you and there is always ways of any problems, its okay to be not okay just dont give up Your life is precious, and you're meanful for people around you :)

The sad thing is he kept asking everyone why his father was like that and the reply he got was there was no reason and his dad was just crazy. If someone had said his father chose to be abusive and chose not to ask for help thats why he became like that then perhaps he would have believed in therapy and tried harder. In the end he just didnt want to hurt anyone coz of his violent outbreaks and he chose not to be like his dad at any cost.

I just wish I hadn't read your comment man, now I just can't watch the movie reminding me every moment all the saving and happiness in the start would turn to nothing. :-( I just gotta have control over my eyes in such video's comments T.T

@@adimaurya02 ouch I think im sorry to hear that, but I literally watch the movie after I read these comment section and maybe if I hadn't, I'd know and catch up the ending in 1/2 part of the movie Sometimes spoiler just make us "well known" about the plot and be clear about little details of the film

At kung isa ka sa kanila.. hinding-hindi mo'ko maiintindihan. Dahil makasarili ka.. you can’t love the trauma out of someone... but you can help them deal with it... that scene at the lake always makes me cry

I wish I hadn't seen this movie, it is one of the movies that broke me again and again but also made me realize if I am gone than what would the few people in my life be?

This movie makes me really sad 😭😢 all day I realized that true love is hard to find. But happy especially when you already find it. And also hard to move on when it lost. 😢

I found this music video few months back...I didn't know about Finch & Violet but I always wanted to read All The Bright Places. Somehow, I didn't get an opportunity to or maybe I was too lazy to even read what the book was about. I've always had this habit of scrolling down the yt videos. So, when I found this music video and scrolled down the comment section I got to know this movie is based on ATBP. I instantly knew I had to watch it. The movie is beautiful. It makes us realise that we never know what the other person might be going through, that is exactly why we need to be kind to everyone around us. I often come back to this video because this hits different, the movie, the song, the clips, everything

At the end of the day we're all dealing with something that either kills us or makes us stronger, strange how something beautiful could hurt and kill slowly as times goes by and it was that one thing that ignited you and made you happy to everyone fighting a fight not seen with the naked eyes but a fight with yourself and memories stay strong and don't give up keep going you're stronger than you can ever imagine

i HAVE to cry it´s impossible not to.. great work i love it and the song fits in just perfectly

in each verse I see myself ... I see everything I went through, all the end points that I thought I would have in my life ...and now I see, I love to live I love to live because all this is so god ❤️

I never knew that there was a movie for the book. I read the book a while back and it really hit close to home for me. I cried a lot after the last chapter. It was kind of cathartic in a way for me. I'll definitely be checking out the movie soon. Probably one of the best and saddest book I've read in my life.

Sad to think that many of us are always good at fixing others but can't fix their own battles in life. If you're not good right now and didn't even know what to do in your life, just remember that you're breathing, means you have purpose in life, you don't need to fight your monsters on your own. Stay safe and be safe y'all.

After watching the movie i thought of a plot twist: When they first talk at the lake he said that a legend says that a group of guys disappered here, plus we never know where is father is gone so what if : his father was one of the guys who dissapered to a parallel world and Finch also asked his sis about why his dad was the way he was so imagine if he reached the bottom and went to this parallel universe to ask his father, and now he is stuck there and he cant join back Violet. Sorry my english might not be perfect tho.

Actually in the book finch goes to his father on the weekend and he talks to him and honestly the movie ruins the book in more ways than one so I suggest to read the book rather than watch the movie

I read this book as a reading assignment from school, at first it was kinda boring, but by the half I was so invested that when I finished it, I was bawling my eyes out. Although I get why the ending is THE ending, I hate it. I wanted both to find happiness, but only one of them even for close to it.
