I can’t help but chuckle at your naïveté. And, don’t feel bad, as I’m not making fun of you. You’re making it all work and this process is teaching you so many useful bits of info and skills. The stories you’ll have to tell your children, one day, will be worth their weight in gold, that’s for sure. Congratulations!!!

You might have to make a tool shed..... preferably with a lock, so that things don't go astray. I find it helps to draw outlines of things where they go, that way you can see at a glance if something is out of place or missing. I find that helps tremendously to have visual reminders to help keep things tidy and organized. Plus it gets expensive having to keep replacing lost stuff all the time. A nail and a "chalk outline" on the wall is a LOT cheaper than having to buy a NEW one in a couple months when you need it again.😉

Hurray Mick! Here in Albany, New York. The sudden snow fall and freezing rain left 80,000 residents left without power, lights, heat and all the comforts of home! I split wood, kept two fireplaces going for fourteen hours, so I appreciate in a SMALL way the challenges you are having in Alaska!

If you continue to have trouble with splitting..smack the sharp side of the nail with your hammer while the head is against a scrap piece of wood and the blunt nail will break through the nail fibers instead of splitting them. I liked the 'toil for your food' sign off.

Turn the one curtain on its side. There should be a small hem that you can cut a small hole into to thread the rod thru. Get a small wood dowl to use as a rod then cut the circles off. It will be only one curtain still but should provide privacy when needed and slide to open when desired. Good luck

You are doing the best you can with your knowledge and skill level. By way of a hint, there are metal clamps (they may have been in the package with the sink) that go in the metal tracks around the underside of your sink and then they tighten to your counter top instead of relying on the caulking to hold the sink in place. 😎

You could put 2 bookcases on either side of sink base with doors to use as a pantry./storage areas. Maybe clear up bookcase wall by putting it to Lt. Or rt. Of desk ? Ideas are to create distinct spaces of : here’s my kitchen/ work/ lounge/ sleep etc. Areas. Coffee table or big ottoman Infront of love seat will ground sofa create comfort area. I don’t know height of Rm. But our dorm rooms we built like a bunk bed mattress Ontop under it put dresser and hooks on wall for coats etc. to side of it built steps up was easy and cheap. Hey, if things aren’t permanent yet, I highly recommend having your kitchen on your left when you come into your cabin by the front door and scooting your bookshelf and bed to create a “cozy corner” towards the back where you have the cabinets now. It’ll separate the spaces more and keep the messier kitchen type stuff by the door which tends to get messy often, and leave a more “sacred” cleaner space by the window in the back!

Will you add a porch to keep snow & rain away from door. Maybe large enough to watch rain or snow. It helps with having another place to have in bad weather 😂 Help you grow plants or food??

Each challenge is ending in more knowledge , skills and improvements to your cabin and yourself. Stick with it and you will have a cabin you can enjoy. It does wonders having another set of hands and a friend to laugh with...I was a much older single mom and I was thankful to have my son when I was building a cabin. Thank you for another video. Curtains are dumb...you never know if it's a single or double. Also, a birch or aspen branch makes a fantastic curtain rod...just slightly bumpy. Or you can string a cable or wire and use that as a curtain rod...just use a nail or screw at the half way point.
