I think Amanda's talent is being able to make simple easy doodles look really complex and sophisticated and interesting. So many other bujo channels use complex medium like watercolor paintings, printed paper, complex doodles in their bujo and while there's nothing wrong with that, it's really hard to recreate for someone who doesn't have that artistic ability or the art materials. I love that her themes are so simple to doodle but still manages to look visually interesting at the same time.

Pro tip: it's the same ink, but smaller nibs/points put out less of it at a time. If you go over the same spot again, you'll get that good coverage. It helps to let the first "coat" dry, and also to go over it *lightly* or even just dab at it *lightly* to get the ink to come out without disturbing the ink on the page. I bought mine to cover up water-based fountain pen ink mistakes, and I have to work in layer because the water-based gel ink does NOT sit on top of my mistakes; it blends and makes them worse (but pastel). Necessity is the mother of invention lol. Eventually I'll get an acrylic-based correction pen for my water-based inks, but for now, the Gelly Rolls are really great for going over stuff like the archival inks or pigment-based inks like the Fudenosukes, or over colored paper, so they're still worth having.

@@CatalogK9 yes! I found that out while experimenting with them yesterday. Definitely keepers honestly.
I myself have never had trouble drawing straight lines, and I subconsciously always drew the line toward myself, yet I never realized that that's what I was doing, so when Amanda explained it, I became aware of all the years in my life spent drawing straight lines toward myself. This feels like a very huge revelation of something that was there the entire time, but I never noticed it. Thank you for enlightening me, Amanda!

(2:03) Fun Story : for me it's easier to draw the straight line vertically instead of towars me, so don't stress yourself if it doesn't work for you. :) Edit: Another Trick that helped me: Don't look at the pen when you draw. Look at the dots! It's like driving a car. It drives in the direction you looking at.

The first time I saw a grid spacing layout was on your channel and it really helped me a ton. I put mine on a clear plastic pencil board so I can slap it on the page as I plan my layouts then just mark where I need the lines to stop and end. Makes everything so much faster and I love it, thank you for the idea.

Ooh, a design / visual arts course by Amanda?! Yes, please! Seriously, I love how clearly you explain the concepts.
I guess a lot of us try to come up with their own bullet journal or design ideas and they just don't turn out the way we want them to look like. It would be so much fun, if you could redo some of our designs or spread ideas to get a more detailed feeling, what is maybe missing or what should be left out to make them look better. I think that really would help a lot of us and could be a great video idea :) Lovely greetings from germany and thank you so much Amanda for all your great, cozy and inspiring Videos

So I just got a random idea at the start of the video when you said you're spilling the tea: What if you were able to get a partnership with a local cafe that sells bubble tea, and you create your own blends for them? Not sure if that would be feasible, but it could be bujo related! i.e. Bujo Bubbles, which would include your favorite flavors. Also, yes - the straight line without a ruler thing has always been a mystery to me, and I've been watching your videos for at least two years now lol.

I really appreciated these tips, especially how to correct mistakes. My 2 yo doodled in over 20 pages of my journal and I was wondering how I was going to work with it. I also found that using a bleed proof shipping label cut to size will also give me a clean page to work on. I will definitely check out the older video for more tips on mistakes!

The beauty of this system is you can literally just pick up on the next empty page, where traditional planners would taunt you with a mass of wasted pages. I'd put a big ol' OOPS page in there, myself. And if it irks you that much (especially if you're about to enter a new year anyway)... time to get a shiny new journal, darrrrrrrrnnnnnnnnnnn...
