FINALLY RIDING MY BACKYARD DIRT JUMPS FEELS AMAZING!! LOCKDOWN EP5
Ойын-сауық
It's been a long time coming. During the whole time staying at home, we've managed to build a line of MTB dirt jumps in my backyard, which has always been a dream of mine. And now we have completed enough jumps to call this a line of TRAILS! In this video I build a new take off ramp, smooth the jumps with some classic trail building technique and then we finally ride them on my dirt jump hardtail and BMX!! Riding your own jumps is the best feeling and this was no different. Subscribe to not miss more progress and MTB trails updates with more digging, riding and build lapses. Thanks to all of you, stay safe.

This series is the reason I've dusted off my bike after 7 years of having it hang on the shed wall. Can't wait to get on the bike again after all that time! Cheers Matt, can't wait to see the next episode.

Best series on KZread at the moment. Because your exit speed isn't that high on the second hip, I'd use the chunky takeoff as a spine so you can boost and carry more speed out of it👍

Hands down best series on youtube who's with me on that? You could just build a spine as you don't gain much speed after the second hip, make it big so that after it you have tons of speed to open even more opportunities further on!!! Love ittttt.

Loving the trails, drainage is going to be an issue though with the turf being higher than the bottom of the transitions. Get yourself a post hole digger, and build a hole 2 foot deep at the lowest point, back fill with gravel, drainage sorted, one in each bomb hole, and you've extended the riding season by months.

These lockdown videos are still as entertaining as the ones filmed elsewhere and the reason for that is the team behind the production. Matt, you have a natural ‘tv presenter’ capability and the dialogue is always interesting and amusing. Ben, you do a great job on the filming/editing/hyping/moral support. It’s nice to see Bec and Moose getting involved too; makes it kind of homely. The chemistry works lads.... don’t change a thing! Maybe a track day in the Porsche though? A few laps of the Porsche Experience circuits at Silverstone? You know you wanna!!! (After the lockdown obvs!)
I really think Ben is great to watch on the channel I really like to watch your videos now because of Ben and you should defo keep him riding so he can progress and ride with you a lot more , thanks

What’s cool is Matt is such a good rider that he can build anything and be able to ride it.On my home trails I have to keep it fairly small to fit my skill level. Its also fun to keep making each feature bigger and better as you get used to it and progressing that way.I love building and riding, can’t wait to see what these trails end up looking like!

@@reecewilkinson5093 you're right. Wood looks better. Dirt does not rot, continually have to be replaced and or maintained and you don't have to paint it. Hence, the cash saving, but, everyone has preferences.

Keep it up! These videos are the best! I think you should make the split line where one side is the chunky hip and the other sides is a roller that leads to a larger jump just behind it. This would make it look really cool because it breaks 1 jump into 2 and got can more easily all variety into the 2 lines, instead of having a massive chunky lip and 2 similar landings. Love the vids 👍👍☝️💪🥳🥳
Can't wait to see what you build next, I like the idea of Cross-over jumps into two different lines, Left side of "Big Chunky" jumps right into 1 trail/line and Right side of "Big Chunky" jumps left into another. That would be pretty sick after the right hip. Keep up the great work!

Best series ever and Ben is such a good friend... best content in KZread! No doubt about that. Legends.
One recommendation, try not to wet the dirt too much, this is what is assisting in your cracking issue. You want the dirt to be more like brownie after its been baked, Moist and sticky but not sloppy. The cracking is due to the outer layer of dirt drying too quick in the sun and rapidly shrinking. Also, tarps will become your best friend for managing moisture. We literally tarp out entire line, including the flatbottom. This allows you to ride them year round when you get breaks in weather as well keeps moisture in the dirt in the dead of summer. Also, cut that next lip down and make a long low into your split jump. ;)
matt: ask to have a go at his own trails
never stop the lockdown series it is the best yet!!
The progression in the garden is sick!! Still watching every Episode when there drop!!! One of the best Series at the moment :D
that last lip seems way too close to the hip landing, you need to space things out a little more so the transitions aren't awkwardly tight.
