For many reasons! The USA promised, and it is on record, that NATO would not expand eastwards from Germany. Secondly, Ukraine joining NATO and NATO establishing military bases at Russia's doorstep is provocative. When Russia placed a military base in Cuba, the USA was enraged. So, if the USA and NATO don't want Russia to expand, they shouldn't expand either.

Because the us (a western country) basically rules nato (a primarily European alliance). Considering that the us contributes to 2/3 of natos budget and because the us is also the only nato country that has thousands of nuclear warheads and because the us is also the most advanced strongest and well funded military in the world. Can this bring an end to the conflict, or will it add more complications? Let's hope for a resolution that prioritizes peace and stability for the region.
