Dear Jeremy, it is great that you have blessed many and feel called to help. But I feel for your mother here, she is trying very hard to hide her true feelings - because she loves you and appreciates all you have done for her - don’t let your kindness stop your loved ones from speaking their truth. Stop pressuring your mother to agree with your decision to interact with the step-family. You are like the child who tries to force their divorced parents back together - you don’t even know the details of the whole situation because your mother protected you from them. It’s okay if you feel the need to help them but leave your mother out of it. It’s true you are welcomed because you are able to help - always remember that you don’t know what is in people’s hearts - you may be expecting gratitude but other issues might arise in the future. Respect your mother’s painful past regarding your father and step-mother. She can forgive but she can never forget. If you were helping your half-siblings with education or such that might be better but building the house and pulling your mother into the situation is insensitive. I wish you well but please don’t pressure your mother or brothers to interact with the step-family.

Your mom is adorable! She reminds me of my mom. My mom was so sweet and gentle and was married to my dad for over 50 years. Loved him and supported him in everything he did. much. They both passed away. I miss them sooo much
