Finally learnt some NEW Greenland Rolls with the Rebel Greenland T kayak

Finally learnt some NEW Greenland Rolls with the Rebel Greenland T.
Up till now, I've only been able to do the Standard Greenland Roll and I could not progress so much even with lots of practice. It was a little disheartening that I only had the one roll. Now I have received the Rebel Greenland T, I felt more confident to try different Greenland Rolls!

Hehe thanks Bill! I think I’ll stick with these few rolls and learn to do it on the other side before moving on to others :)

Congrats, love how you document your progress and share with everyone with a positive attitude. A bit more tugging and holding your pivot hand steady will encourage torsal rotation over relying/pulling on the paddle.

I like your energy! Always refreshing to see progress with a smile. One tip to get you going easier with the forward finishing, reverse sweep roll: think body, not paddle. You have a good setup but your body finishes in the middle of the cockpit and to do that you have to push hard on the paddle. Instead you should almost touch your head in front of the cockpit when coming up! That way you take the strain off your shoulder and you can keep rolling for many years to come ;) As a bonus along the journey you may find the throwing stick and hand rolls to be easier to master because you learned rolls are more body than blade. Good luck whatever you do!

Thanks for the tips! I reviewed my videos afterwards and showed it to a friend and they also mentioned exactly the same thing as you did. Definitely have lots to work on and need more practice. I really need to think Body rather than Arms!

Wow!! I'm impressed Chad 👍👍. What a progression with your new and "real" kayak. Keep practising and you are going to be better than me at the end of the year. Next step is to do the rolls on both sides. Also practise balance brace and sculling, that will help you a lot. Congratulations! 👏

Awesome job buddy, you hit it out of the park, some bloody good rolls and great to see you're trying out different techniques. You should have a go at the no paddle roll (can't remember the correct name) But let go of the paddle and just use your hips and legs. Something I learned 20 years ago and before you ask NO I can't do it anymore (to many injuries + old man now lol) Great video and a lovely looking kayak.

@@Fishaholicboy to be honest it's not too hard it's just timing and momentum. As soon as you start to roll use your hips and thighs and push yourself to keep going. Now I don't know if it's possible in a sea kayak as I learned to do it in a smaller boat about 8 feet if memory serves. But I don't see why not contacting a sea kayak is not as wide. If you do try it can't wait to see the video 👍
