In this week’s episode, we discuss the new ball head I finally got along with the 175k giveaway! Ever since I've been focused on landscape photography I think I've changed or upgraded just about every piece of gear that I own from cameras, to lenses, tripods and camera bags, but one thing I've never upgraded was the ball head that I'm using. I've been using the same ball head now for many years with no real complaints, but recently I got my hands on a new ball head that I'm pretty excited about and wanted to share it with you all today.
In this video, I'll review the soon to be released Aspen Ball Head from the Colorado Tripod Company. I don't want to spoil the video, but there's a lot to be desired with this new ball head and I find it perfect for landscape photography. I personally haven't paid much attention to the ball head market over the years, but I've got to believe that this is the best looking one I've ever seen! Plus it's substantially less expensive than the ball head I've been using - it's the classic "win win"! I hope you enjoy this week's video and thanks so much for all the support over the last couple of years AND be sure to stick around to the end for the 175k Giveaway! Thanks so much for watching! - Mark D.

Congrats on the milestone, Mark! My current kick-around back is an Endurax sling bag. A great bag for running and gunning, but it takes its toll on the neck after a while. I also use a much bigger Neewer bag as my carry-all bag, but it’s mostly just for travel.

I am using now for a few month a new Photobag called The "Element Backpack" from a company called Compagnon from Germany. It is a 30 litres bag with a plus rolltop of 12 litres. It was a true odyssey to receive it because it was sent to a friend in Berlin who was going to travel to Santiago/Chile. From there it was picked up by another friend living in the same city who had planeed a trip to Patagonia where I live very soon, but for the Pandemic, she could not travel. So another friend of mine who is living near my home was going to return from a trip to Valparaíso to Puerto Natale, where I live (some 3000 km further south), a few months later and on his way to the airport, in Santiago, he visited this second friend and picked up the bag and brought it to me. So since I bought it until I received it, there was a lapse of time of 4 months. I am very happy with it but still need a bag a bit smaller such as a 26 litres for smaller trips around the city.

Congrats on 175K! Well deserved for a channel that always has great tips and great pics. I'm currently using a Lowepro SlingShot 302. Interesting ball head set up. I'm currently exploring options for a new ball head, so I will keep this one in mind. A free camera bag sounds good and this one looks pretty handy. I currently use a Lowepro Sling bag which is about 10 years old now. Bag designs seem to have improved a fair bit over the last 10 years.

Hey Mark, Great video and as always I enjoy all of your tips and knowledge. I'm currently using my old Osprey Kestrel pack and a Peak Design packing cube.

Congratulations on the 175K milestone. You have some great content! That is a neat looking ball head. I currently use the Lowepro ProTactic 450 AW II Pro Modular Backpack. This is a great bug, but it’s time to switch it up a bit.

This has convinced me to get a ball head. I've been toying with the idea of getting one and I think now is the time to pull the trigger and go for it! Congratulations on the milestone! I'm currently using a Sandstrom, nothing flash but has served me well for years!

I am currently using a Lowepro Photo Sport. Good for hiking but a tight fit if I want to take more than my camera and one additional lens

I'm currently using the Lowepro Slingshot 202 for strolls around the city and the Lowepro Fastpack 250AW for hikes and longer sessions. Holds all my needed gear and offers some room for snacks and beverages. And the side access feature on both is a feature i wouldn't ever want to miss again, I love not having to take off the bag to reach for my camera.

I recently bought a cheap bag from Amazon and would love an upgrade! Especially one that carries a tripod on the side as you demonstrated. Congrats on the 175K! Amazing!

I’ve been using a 15 year old lowepro mini trekker. At the time I didn’t have any gear at all and it felt ridiculous using it. As my gear multiplied 😄😄😄 I managed to fill it up but there is hardly any space for personal items let alone storage for a jacket or anything else truly useful. Nowadays I use the lowepro to store my gear in the house and when I go out I use a hiking backpack with a camera insert.

Mark, nice to see that you got the Aspen Ball Head. There are a lot of us out here that have been waiting for years to receive ours. Maybe one day it will happen.

Thanks for this video. I have been wanting a new ball head that has the features of the one you demonstrated. I will definitely give it a look. I wouldn’t mind having that backpack either. I currently use a shoulder bag, but have been thinking of switching.

I'm using a lowepro flipside trek 200 camera bag. Good for a beginner and on sale it wasn't too pricey, about 100 USD. Doesn't hold more than camera, lenses and accessories but that keeps the weight down for short hikes or when you just need the basics.

Congrats on the milestone! I really enjoy your channel and look forward to each new installment. I currently use an Endurax ShellX extra large camera backpack. Nothing fancy by any stretch of the imagination but generally has been adequate in most situations.

Thanks for the info, I never really considered a ball head, but got me thinking. I am currently using a XIT bag, and it is a bit crowded.
