Guitar player here, the bottle slide is a thing in real life in blues guitar music (ex. Johnny Winters or Paul Gilbert). It works by strumming the strings and sliding the bottle up/down the neck without pressing down on the frets to change the pitch of the sound. It’s typically used to make the guitar sound more vocal-like and makes it sing. It’s a difficult technique cuz you have to focus on hitting the notes you want while staying in tune. Bocchi is a beast for pulling it off the cuff

1 month late reply, just want to add the explanation a bit. Bocchi snapped her first string (E string), and she was trying to tune her 2nd string (B string) so it could cover the first string for the solo. But unfortunately the peg broken so she couldnt tune it. So she used the bottle slide since she could control the pitch/note on her own with the bottle silde w/o relying the fret (since the string was out of tuned). And yeah, that was really hard to do especially in that situation.

Kita chan steal the show this episode. Her ad-lib solo to help Bocchi recover is so sweet

For real, I felt a bit disappointed because I was waiting for a Bocchi solo like she did in episode 8. But plot wise it wouldn't make sense for her to pop off *too much* since it'd instantly make her popular, so they made her do a quirky improv thing (that is more impressive than a solo but only to people who understand it). The more I watch this scene the more I feel like it was Kita's time to shine while Bocchi will get a more impressive moment later in the story.

While season 2 isn’t confirmed yet, there is going to be a Bocchi movie coming out soonish. Sadly it’s just going to be a compilation of the first season.

Cloverwork's latest annual financial report stated they're still in loss despite making popular anime like My dress up darling, Spy x Family, Bocchi the Rock...etc. Though I'm still optimistic since my dress up darling will have season 2 and they still have Aniplex as their rich daddy.

This series was fantastic, multiple watches I couldn't get enough. It was great watching along with you. My prediction for second season series goals: Ryu: buys dinner for the group. Kita: has actual telepathic connection with Bocchi. Nijika: uses a guitar to play drums. Bocchi: Youngest headliner in Budokan history - Babymetal makes a guest appearance.

You missed the last song is sang by bocchi at the end

As an interesting fact, That last song that sounds at the end of the anime is a cover from asian kung fu generation. The author of the manga likes a lot that band and they were kind of an inspiration. Thats why the names of the band members are the same as kessoku band´s names. Also the voice actress of bocchi sang that song in the end... So technicly is the only song of the anime that has bocchi´s voice

I would say this episode is about Kessoku band's growth. Episode 8 is about how Bocchi break through her barrier and lead the entire Kessoku Band. In this episode, it becomes other Kessoku band members backup Bocchi when she is in panic. You can see Kita ad-libbing Bocchi's part. Nijika and Ryo pair up to prolong the interlude to buy Bocchi some time to fix the problem. If you listen to the original version posted on Bocchi's official KZread, it's not that long actually. I prefer this way actually because it truly shows they're growing as a band. Also you can feel that Bocchi's growth is the overt plot of this season and Kita's growth is the covert plot. The lyrics of the 2nd song is also about her feelings to Bocchi. They admire each other in different way. And Kita calling Bocchi as Hitori-chan is an indication that their relationship becomes closer, as in Japanese calling your first name and adding chan means that your relationship is close to that person.

All songs including the show endings and openings are from kessoku band and sung by their respective characters VAs. every member sings at least one song. they have an album too and it went at least gold in Japan and topped the charts for awhile. The credit song is an Asian kung-fu Generation cover sung by Bocchi too. Asian Kung-fu Generation is a band who has made a lot of famous anime intro/outro songs for stuff you've probably seen like Naruto, Full Metal Alchemist, Bleach and more. the characters are all named and based off AKG too. the manga/anime creator is a huge fan haha. the guitarist who actually did the music for the song that bocchi's string broke in did a recreation of that performance here ( kzread.info/dash/bejne/aKt1s7Sxk6-7lag.html ) its great.

oh also season 2 will def come eventually. im sure they didnt expect this show to blow up the way it did. so making a music show with a full album and stuff again probably takes longer than normal shows. there enough material in the manga to do probably 2 more season atm. they did A LOT of post show stuff too. more than most ive seen like literally having some VAs learn instruments and do a concert at zepp arena like she wanted in the show. they'll be back for sure hah.

Please don't say she isn't popping off with the solos. It's really a cool technique and pretty hard to pull off especially unplanned In football term, imagine a player get injured and need to be treated, just to come back with a hattrick and tbh I prefer the anime bottleneck solo to the original one (you can hear it from their album)

There's possibly enough for 2 more seasons if going by the manga so I hear...There is a movie...just out...But it's a rehash of the first season.

also them performing that well would be not realistically possible, it's their second time performing with the full band and also that many audiences, from 7-10 audiences to 500+. This also shows like everything can't go well even if you want it to be. We also want to see the step by step process of them becoming a good to better performers, not from 1 to 100 but from 1 , 5 , 10 level at a time!
