RIP Steve Wright. One of the best intros to a radio show there's ever been. Steve was one of the finest broadcasters and influenced many of the DJ's I grew up listening to, later realising that actually Steve was better than all of those that came later. His death is a sad day for radio.

The intro makes me feel so sad, an institution the comfort of Steve Wright in the afternoon brightened up everyones day..A travesty to stop his show, and here we are now Steve has passed away,best DJ we have ever had, we must value what is left, Steves long time friends and DJs Tony,Johnnie,Paul,Ken still entertain us.

Loved the Big Show - Steve Wright was iconic, and like so many, was treated abysmally. The world has gone mad - people with a real work ethic, who go above and beyond and give their all, are treated like trash and dumped when it suits management. I hope Karma comes upon them. God bless you Steve - your fans love and miss you. Afternoons aren’t the same anymore. Rest in peace.💔

RIP Steve Wright, One of the best DJ'S ever to date. I remember the early days on Radio One Saturday mornings, then the morning shows and the the big long running afternoon shows so different you brighten up my working days as an engineer I travelled a lot in the car I remember the characters such as Sid the manager that used to call in such a refreshing show the music was great also before moving to Radio 2. It was disappointing that the BBC decided to remove Steve Wright in the afternoon who was best current DJ at the time. I will miss you Steve Wright at least I have the 3 singles you released they are great to remember you by. I would like to pass on my deepest sympathy to your family and friends from one of your many fans David. @bbc

We l❤ve you, we will miss you Steve Wright. Thank you for so many years of fun making our afternoons and Sundays all that much brighter with your music and crazy characters. You once read out a love request from me to my husband and played the track ‘Move Closer by Phillis Nelson’ which we managed to record & now brings tears’, it is fantastic to have your wonderful individual voice say our names. Wish we could spend an hour just listening to all of Mr Angry! You were so much fun, you brought so much into people’s lives. R.I.P you Radio Legend xxx

He was a true professional when they announced they were ending his show. A complete repeat of the fiasco at Radio1 under Matthew Bannister and Trevor Dann!
