Final run into Waterloo

This is a short video of my final run into Waterloo International on it's last day of operations 13th November 2007. Apologies for the quality of the video, it was 10 years ago and it was an old camera then!!

    Never mind the quality is not HD quality, the content is what makes this so interesting. I had about 3 trips before the change to St Pancras and although old and slow for tourists arriving in London for the first time the views were worth it. I remember people picking out the buildings they had only read about. The journey now is certainly fast but very little to see along the way. Good to see you are now enjoying your retirement

    Great footage. It's mind blowing that Eurostars used to 'crawl' through South London - Brixton, Herne Hill, etc. - before they got re-directed through the tunnels out of St. Pancras towards Ebbsfleet that significantly reduced their travel time! This is still more fascinating!

    When the Eurostar left the station at the ceremony. Another one was still parked there. Where was the train leaving off to, and what happened to that Eurostar that didn’t leave?

    @@tonyboston9777 That's fascinating info, thanks very much! "Uninvited Guests" lol! I guess a SPAD at an interface like this one is of great consequence... I can only imagine the exchanges between the Belgian railway authorities and Network Rail/Eurostar that were had over such incidents! :D

    Grant Mcgrug Think I may have misunderstood your question. The equipment was removed from the trains, where the third rail exists in Ashford for example is so that domestic stock can still run through platforms 3 and 4 if necessary but not use them for passengers except perhaps in an absolute emergency

    Why did the eurostar move to St Pancras

  • @cedarcam

    @cedarcam

    3 жыл бұрын

    The journey time from St Pancras is vastly reduced and there are less delays now Sharing with Southern services the Eurostars were more likely to be held up. They did think about keeping a service into Waterloo but for economic reasons it never happened. It is a shame in a way as although not a high speed route it was an interesting one for tourists visiting UK for the first time

    AWS (Automatic Warning System) clear indication when you approach a signal showing green. If it’s showing anything else a continuous siren sound is given which you must acknowledge by pressing a button within about 2-3 seconds or the emergency brakes are applied bringing the train to a stand

    When i have to go to work via vauxhall, I always look up here and wish i could see the eurostar at least once a week - depending on if and when i have to go via this route. Eurostar is very close to my heart, i never got to go on it back then, never knew i ever would until the time came in 2016🥲 Havent looked back since, and just for the record im really disappointed that this fake plandemic has caused my trip to france next month to be cancelled 😡 Nice video btw, saw an old SWT 442 i think, havent seen that in ages - used to be on the gatwick express. Class 465 (the one heading to Victoria before uou branched off) should be coming to train sim world soon (computer simulation), cant wait to drive, thats an old schl train i used to go riding back in the good old normal days
