That was due to the fact that most of them were filmed on an older CRT tv using a DTV converter box

Great catch, Gary. As a ATT u-verse customer in Fenton, I expected we'd have a snowy screen with no signal. To my surprise, the ATT spot formerly occupied by WCMZ TV-28 is now home to WCMU TV-14 of Mount Pleasant. So, I'm grateful we still have access to the WCMU broadcasts, since Mount Pleasant is still in our same Saginaw - Flint - Bay City - Midland TV market.

@@steveparadis2978 The call letters of Detroit Public TV is WTVS. I cannot pick it up in Flint on my eight-bay bow tie antenna with rotor, booster and distribution amplifier.

@@steelbeard1 The closest PBS station to Flint is WDCQ, with a transmiitter in Bay City/Essexville, due north of Flint. Four channels: PBS, MHz, Create and Kids www.deltabroadcasting.org/home/#.XWmMi-jwa00

What you was watching was footage from WCMU's series Destination Michigan when they visited Tahquamenon Falls. The iron deposits in the area gives the water a rusty look. kzread.info/dash/bejne/iZassK2Dp7PTprg.html

A nice sign-off, but still a sign-off. CMU just decided to go for the money, as usual. It made practically no difference in my viewing habits since I found Delta Broadcasting's WDCQ, Ch. 19. With four channels, including Mhz, it offers more choices, as well as local programming. Ch 28 was always a redheaded stepchild; first for UM, who couldn't get an Ann Arbor license, and then for CMU, who picked it up at a rummage sale.

WDCQ replaced the Mhz channel with the World channel.

FirstZachAttack People can still receive WTVS and WKAR for the national feed channel, or WDCQ for its local Q-TV Kids channel.

Those were iron particles explaining the rusty color.

Right down as South East in 1994 (Saturday, January 1st) and signed off in April 1998 (No more NHK Shikuoka).
