My greatest respect to Lituania 🇱🇹 and their Basketball heritage … but Puerto Rico just wanted the win a lot more harder. They maintained the defense intensity the whole 40 minutes. Neutralized the powerful Lithuanian 3 shots and did not give anything easy. I’ve read a lot of casuals who think PR is just this small country with no basketball culture or history that out of nowhere won their first ticket to the Olympics. PR’s been playing in the biggest stage and battling the powerhouses even before many of these countries won their independence.

Agree, Puerto Rico have been in 10 Olympics and 15 World Cups way more than any other European country, tied in the 3rd place with Canada as the countries with more appearances in the World Cup. Not to say PR is better than anyone but is very important that people understand that Puerto Rico is not new in this, we just went through some dark moments in the past few years, but we always have been part of the biggest stages of the Basketball!

@@user-su8zh4li4p We gave them their first Olympic defeat with NBA players. They’d lost before. After we defeated them in Athens, Lithuania also did in group stage. Then they lost to Argentina in the semifinals. They also lost to France in group stage in Tokyo 2020.

Puerto Rico is a low key baller country. Our two sports are baseball and basketball. Nothing to be ashamed of. Puerto Rico has more people than Lithuania and they’re also American. A lot played at prep schools in the states

@@evansoto4733 Yeah Puerto Rico has like 3 million people to Lithuania's 2 million but more importantly the Puerto Rican diaspora, Puerto Ricans living outside the territory and in the US proper is another 6 million. That is where the majority of their players came from.

​@@sifisonkosi9427 I'm not questioning how much they give. Every single person on the national team deserves respect regardless of their performance. While luck does have some impact on the result, basketball is not really based on it that much, otherwise we wouldn't have back-to-back champions in a bunch of leagues and tournaments worldwide. If I was to build a tier list, I'd put Lithuania somewhere at the bottom of the B tier, with the US as the only country in the S tier. We're just not a contender for any titles for quite a while now, and we're always a heavy underdog against any A-tier teams like Spain, Serbia, or France. Our basketball system is like a decade behind everyone else's, both in nurturing talents and building strong foundational gameplay strategies. And it shows.

Your calculations forgot to account for Alvorado not being anywhere close to making the team USA roster. So it wasn’t a decision of which team to play for. Embiid is a weird example btw since he could have elected to represent USA, France, or Cameroon. can you name another player who has the option of deciding between 3 teams? nah

Casual people always tend to think that a team, due to a defeat, should be discarded as a powerhouse. This is not like that, any country that presents a basketball technique and IQ against a powerhouse is capable of winning, people must understand that, now Lithuania "is the worst" because PR beat them?, that is not the case, in 2004 Team USA was the "worst", just because they didn't get beat up?? No. Basketball is a box of surprises and the one who scores and defends the best will be the best in court. Period. PR has highed his level and some people are in negation about that 🤷🏻‍♂️.
