The ladders are related to Challenger Andy's "All Gael" challenge run. The mod that Bradguy123 made replaced all enemies and NPCs with Gael, but some enemies in the cutscenes were replaced with ladders for some reason. Andy also used ladders a lot in strats against Gael, so someone in his chat asked if I can replace all objects in Gael's arena with ladders and Andy liked the idea because it would be funny. So that's why the ladders are here.

Probably, but it would be more difficult to do. It was easy to make the grab attack send you to Firelink, because there is an effect that does that.

I think I would have liked it if ones of the blue lightning attacks, perhaps the variants that involved his crossbow, had made it into the final version of the mod boss fight and probably even the actual final boss fight. It would further emphasize that not even Gwyn's sacred bolts of lightning, much like sorceries or pyromancies, were safe from being wielded by the Dark within makind. Granted, you still basically get that with the lightning that comes down when Gael goes into a frenzy but I think actively channeling it would have been extra salt on that legacy.

Challenger Andy modified the cutscene. He said: "Iirc, because Gael did not have a good dummy poly, I placed a dummy poly right in the middle. It’s possible I just used the hilt, can’t remember. In either case, when I applied the effect to the dummy poly, it needed no adjustments. I think I went in and found the ID in the cutscene that had the red energy coming out of the sword using debug menu, which I think I would still have to do because I do not know how I would hook an sfx in a cutscene, unlike most other cases that would just be a Param edit. Regardless, I likely just swapped the id of whatever the lightning is with the red glow. I remember it fitting pretty well without needing much adjustment Sorry it’s been so long I can’t remember I did that mod super dirty, nowadays all my work is much more clean and labeled and smart" You can ask about FXR on the ?ServerName? discord if you have more questions, and he'll probably see it and answer you there.

Hey there, I tried leaving a comment on here and I think it bugged out or something and didn't send. I was wondering if you could help me with something, I feel like I'm a bit over my head with this but I've been working on a side project for years now- and would really appreciate some help. Long story short, I need Gael's attacks to go from Red to Black/White and his ambient skulls from Red to Black/White. I downloaded iGP11 in hopes of figuring out what to do but I can't stress enough I feel super lost, so some help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time if you read this.

iGP11 is only for recoloring textures. The red skulls and smoke are ffx. To edit them you need to unpack your game with UXM (found on Nexus mods), and then go in the sfx folder and unpack map 51 (Gael's map) with Yabber (also found on Nexus). When you do that, you will see all the ffx files inside. You need an fxr editor to edit them. You can find tutorials on the Dark Souls modding wiki, and also ask for help on the ?ServerName? discord. If you get to this point, but don't know which files are Gael's smoke, I'll teach you how to find them.

I just remembered, there is a video called "How To Make Custom SFX Mods For Dark Souls 3" by Seriously Casual. You should check it out. He shows how to change the color of fire on a sword into green, You would need to follow the same steps in Gael's smoke files to change their color. Except you will need to do it in multiple files, because many of his attacks use different files for the red smoke.

​@@Pantagana Fantastic! Sorry I would've replied to this sooner but I had to work today. I've already unpacked the game with UXM and I may have already actually unpacked Gael's map but I am not sure. Once I figure out if I've done that or not, I'll look for the fxr editor on server name like you said- I'm actually already on there but nobody responded when I messaged on there... so it means a lot you've messaged me here. The skulls and stuff being ffx make a lot of sense now, on stream I was looking at the textures and noticed they were white instead of actually Red. It sounds like the biggest obstacle will be finding all of the different gael smoke files then, if you can point me in the right direction I would sincerely appreciate it. If you'd like to know anything about the project as well I'd love to tell you about it if you were interested. My username is thanitose on discord. But anyways, I'll let you know as soon as I've hit a wall with anything and I'll 100% check out that video.

@@Thanitose I know one of Gael's red skull files is f000662030.fxr I don't remember what the others were. You would need to use Yapped or Param Studio to look at Gael's projectiles (inside "Bullet"), to see their sfxIdBullet. Recoloring ffx is annoying, it has a lot of steps.

I see that now, however thanks to the video you were talking about it actually seems do-able if a bit tedious. That being said I have another question, when replacing the file with the edited numbers you have to patch it into the game, so does that mean I would not be able to connect with another user? I am filming with a friend of mine and we've been using the elite knight weapons mod for footage which is on an earlier DS3 patch. Would he not be able to connect with me after I patch the edited color on my end? Also unrelated but still a big issue I've been having but hope you can help me with, when recording with free camera I can't easily park the camera in place once I find a nice spot and then move my character. I'm not sure if I have a non-functioning script in the table or if there's a different camera mode I could use all together. Currently trying to free camera into a spot to record is a nightmare as I have to set the X/Y/Z coordinates manually, which slows the recording process down a lot. If you have any information on that it would seriously help, if not even more than the gael textures being changed. Thank you again very much for your time.
