listening to the guy trying to explain how his co-healer is wasting all his mana while rin and the rest of the group call him a greedy parse player who should learn his place is just upsetting. Kinda understandable how emotional he got, he literally gets gaslit in front of a stream audience.

Now obviously i dont know what happened before and maybe they explained themselves properly before leaving (whether they were in the wrong or not.) The words "It's ok to cry" and calling out chat for clowning around someone for being upset. People need to hear it more even if its in a video game socially interacting with people opens you up to getting hurt by them too .This happens all the time in retail, customer service etc, yes you will learn to block it out and keep trucking but it still hurts and some people might be more prone to it than others. It happens in life too many damn times, the only thing different was that it was in an online game, which somehow in people mind takes the novelty out of the social experience. Okay, I know it's a bit off topic but can we talk about chat ACTIVELY making fun of the guy for being upset? Thank god Xeno told em' to shut the fuck up at 44:00 because this kind of shitty behavior's shouldn't be a thing. I mean, hell, Just the fact that you can be made fun of for being upset and showing emotions... Dude clearly has been bottling that shit up for a while and it's literally BEGGING to be released. This, is exactly why so many people are actually terrified of showing emotions, because random-ass people like the ones in chat will judge them and even laugh at them, even though they NEVER met the person before and they don't even have the full context. Personally, I can 100% relate to what the dude is going through, because the same shit happened to me in most MMO's I played, the breaking point was Guild Wars 2 when I was farming Fractals (Pretty much high level dungeons) with my old static, these people were OBSESSED with their stupid DPS meter and would actively be passive aggressive to those who did not reach a certain amount of DPS, even though some of the people were playing supportive roles. And lemme tell you... it feels like SHIT to be yelled at and guilt tripped just because you're not living up to some arbitrary standards that some dipshit made up. And eventually, after enough abuse... you're just gonna reach a breaking point, I know I reached mine a long time ago, and as a result I don't run high end raiding content anymore, and I suspect the dude might reach that same breaking point if he doesn't find a static with actually decent human beings in it Edit: also, just for clarity's sake, know that the vast majority of groups you'll find in FF14 and GW2 are almost all super nice, those bad experiences are the exception, not the rule. Just wanted to throw that out there because I know my comment make it sounds like every single high end groups are that bad, but they aren't, especially not in GW2 and FF14

Honestly this dude sounds legit, I've been raiding slightly longer and still haven't done an Ultimate, clearing current savage tiers and DSR on Astro? Progging P5 in TOP? Man I wish I was that good, I'm happy just getting purple parses on tank, and am still trying to find a group to do literally any Ultimate with.

This response will get slept on but is completely true. Since rin is a streamer and a lot of good players view his stream, they would have a negative view of him as a healer and make it harder to find a new group. He did kinda have to come out and put himself out there just to defend his ability to play in good groups moving forward.

I wouldn't be surprised if someone got turned off from FFXIV and ended a sub if treated like this REPEATEDLY. Hell for some people once might be it for them and I wouldn't judge them for it.

Sage mp economy is not bad. It's not as good as astro, but even safety healing as long as you're not overcapping gall you shouldn't run out unless you have to do a lot of res. Physis, kerachole, ixachole heal for a lot. If you just use your ocgds at places that make sense you will outheal 98% of pf white mages. That sage player is well, looking at log progging that far into the fight and using only one kerachole... that is... sus. But for prog or even pf you do play for safety. That doesn't mean spam heal but for example if something needs mit to survive but your dps players aren't consistently mitting, you should gcd heal to account for that. When your dps stop fucking around and can remember to hit feint consistently then you can remove that gcd and just let kerachole cover it. But I am also skeptical of people who are like "I can solo heal this" especially if they're only using ogcds because if you restrict your heal plan that much a lot of times you will have a hard time covering for mistakes. Especially in ultimate people get tagged by random shit all the time. Astro does have a lot of stuff at 90 like exaltation, ed, whatever the single target shield is, pocket crown if they have it, and synestry so they do have a lot of flexibility but if there are wipes then there are wipes. But just from my own pf experience I consider that sus until proven otherwise.

I found out how fake everyone was but something nagged me like I was somehow wrong. If I appeased the people who treated me badly better, or something along those lines, maybe it wouldn't have gone that way. But the truth was they were all liars and the moment they perceived any slight against of their in crowd from me they told me to get into a discord call and chewed me out. I didn't even know who the guy was, he wasn't even in the raids I ran into him in a guild dungeon run while he was talking a lot of shit about how he was a lawyer that worked for blizz and all I said to one person I thought actually liked me in the guild was that I thought he wasn't telling the truth. Bam, now I'm "antisocial" and a weirdo and they "trusted" me. And they were going to shun me but not kick me out of the guild because they wanted me to learn my lesson for not believing their fucking loser liar friend. We weren't even trying mythic bosses. It was a very casual raiding guild and they took it that seriously. It was crybaby pathetic and everyone involved was WELL north of 25 years old. I put so much time and energy into grinding things and giving advice to other Demon Hunters who had better gear but wasn't pulling the same numbers (not that I was good, they weren't looking up how to play the class.) But I go from having what I thought was a guild of friends to nothing for making that "mistake". I don't fault people for taking things seriously when they're doing something difficult.

Coming from someone who quit raiding as a new raider in shadowbringers because of the same situation but in reverse; (I was overhealing and instead of telling me how to mitigate they just kicked me without a word) this resonates a lot with me. Wave didn’t deserve to go through that, and getting gaslit like that is just awful. In my case, I later found out from the Samurai in our group that the reason I was kicked was because the raid leader’s friend (who was also a white mage like me) got out of the hospital and was ready to raid with them again. They never told me I was a temp. It was an awful situation and the fact I got treated so horribly; I was told I was not a good player when in fact it was because they needed an excuse to have their friend in the group… It’s disheartening. My heart goes out to Wave and I hope he finds a better group in the future.

The reason the things are there in the middle of the screen is because there's a lot less distance for our eyes to move in order to look at them while having to focus at the middle of the screen looking out for mechanics and what not. Them being close to the middle also allows their slight flashing when they come off CD to catch our eyes. It's a UI thing.

Just had a very similar situation to this happen to me, and I was immediately reminded of this. I joined a TOP progg and clear group, starting at P1. I'm running AST. We had members not able to come for multiple sessions, so we were constantly running subs. We had a continual problem with the sub co-healer not knowing how to heal Program Loop properly. For those that understand how the debuffs work for that mechanic, or those that have healed that ULT, obviously you understand that you aren't supposed to dump heals on random players with damage, but that there are very specific people you're supposed to heal at very specific times. This is very easy to do, actually, but you have to understand the technicality of what's happening in order to do it right. Instead, we had substitute healers coming in and feeling they had to kitchen sink throughout loop, and weren't helping to heal 3's and 4's when they were going to take their towers. I brought this up to the raid leader multiple times, to the point that he said "we get it, you've explained this 80 times", and left the problem unaddressed. He then comes to me saying "I've looked at the logs, and these healers are putting out way more healing than you are. I hope that's eye opening", basically ignoring everything I said. I told him for the 100th time that you can't just sit there dropping heals on random people, and that we needed to focus on SPECIFIC people. Just felt completely gaslit. That same day, the static leader said we were going on a hiatus due to people not being able to show up consistently, and i just took that opportunity to walk away. Absolutely disappointing when i spent a very long time making sure I was prepared to do my job correctly.

It's not always a fun time. I wish the best for Wave that he can find a group he is happy in. It's just a game but for raiding it's still a commitment with other people. Drama happens and I respect him venting all of this.

I even saw a clip going around of Rin laying into a guy and was warning him not to be aggressive or yell and called him a cock sucker in the same sentence. It was insane to listen to. This dude don't know what yelling or aggressive behaviour is because the guy he was attacking was talking normally lol. Absolutely baffling behaviour.

I honestly think that Rin didn't even look at the logs and just took the word of his friend over the new healer. When doing content like this you can really only focus on what you are doing and trust that your group knows what they are supposed to do. If you stop to police what everyone is doing then you die to stupid mistakes because you are not focused. I personally think the AST is right because their co-healer had a complex and it sabotaged their gameplay. This absolutely is a thing that happens with healers and this is why finding a co healer you can vibe with is so important because their overheal can fuck your logs. This Sage was being selfish and when called out about it got defensive. The sage has the raid leads ear and they are friends so they are gonna get treated differently, this isn't an elitist thing its about professionalism. Its rare to find people who can do high level content and also be your friend. Casual players don't understand the mental strain raiders go thru when completing ultimate and I don't think Rin is proud about the way he spoke to Wave but at the end of the day he still has to deal with Dice and make prog. He picked his side and now has to deal with it.

If you have already cleared and have enough RAM in your brain to memorize everyone's role, buffs, and see what mechanic they have, all at the same time while focusing on what you have to do, by all means go ahead an police your team. I already kind of put the savage clears and extremes on a pedestal of "these people play this on another level from myself" so I understand the trepidation when it comes to questioning who's in the right. But there also comes a time when you need to look around and realize that you're not the issue. And if the team doesn't see that, you really need a new team. You're not doing yourself any favors bending over backwards to help those who don't want to be helped. Self-respect is just as important as respecting your team. Actually, it's probably more important. Because self-respect can allow you to see this mess for what it is and walk away. Kudos on having the courage to ask other healers for a second and third opinion.

I mean I thought he might've changed (but I also didn't know him to judge - although I always just felt really iffy about him even though I don't even watch him... but when I do end up on his stream, he just felt a bit off...) so I was also one of the few who didn't really take it 'too seriously'??? Even so, I always had it at the back of my mind though. It was the saltedxiv drama where the owner was gaslighted by Rin. As someone else mentioned here, once happening is an anomaly, two is a pattern... But in his case, there's 3, 4 or probably 5 times now... So... I don't know, man...

I feel his pain. My first raid group I had to go to sub cause of school. They asked me to help them with a fight. I agreed, we cleared, I won a ring. After the fight I was told that all sun are required to pass gear to main raiders and that’s how most groups do it. In actuality the other caster that replaced me when I went sub threw a fit cause he did win gear and since they were all friends I got the shaft. My second raid group I was suppose to be a co founder. We were suppose to be a very casual group. The second we got to refulgance rhey started kicking players with low parses. I started getting scared cause I’m not a high parser. I started asking for help and what not but my friend of over 10 years was too focused on keeping the co healer on par and then they just kicked me cause I was only doing 7500 dps without my weapon and chest on refulgance. The worst part is they totally lied about kicking me and they swore to me that i was doing totally okay cause I was asking for help and what I can do to improve for two weeks before they kicked me. I know how this guy is feeling. Making you feel dumb so they can get away with doing shady shit only to find you have been lied to. I think the raid community needs to chill out.

We let our shield healer do it with his way we can't even pass first raid wide in P3S for like 1 lockout (he didn't like to hear our input). My P1S and P2S first static clear also cleared when I replace him as shield healer. I forced myself to be a healer (even tank) for my static sake, where I was DPS since the start playing the game. Since then, I will never let people play the way they played if our group at some point stuck at the same mechanics. Communication is key, but if they never listen just leave them.

Bruh, I've been in this guy's shoes. I feel for him. Hopefully, as Xeno said, it won't sour it for him like my experience did for me. Guy joins our group as a drg right before the Alexander Savages came out in HW. Convinced everyone else to let him take my OT position; I got shifted into being our melee DPS, despite the fact that I said several times, "I'm bad at melee DPS." Still, a couple of friends were in the group, so I spent literal hours on a training dummy trying to improve myself so that I would at least not drag everyone down. Spent every raid night for the next two weeks having him lecturing/insulting me about my DPS and mech mistakes (I did mess up a bit, not being used to melee DPS) between pulls. Was told outside of those raid nights by others that my DPS was good enough, even if it wasn't the best so they didn't know what he was complaining about. My friends in the raid even told me that some of the mech mistakes he'd been complaining about weren't even my fault. Finally, one raid night, our whm made a mech mistake that wiped the group. The tank immediately blamed me and began yelling and cussing. The others finally calmed him down, but it was the last straw for me. I left the instance, left the party, and messaged the leader. "I can't do this anymore, I'm literally in tears right now and that's not right. So, just so you know, I'm officially leaving the static as of this second." I've not actively raided on my own since. I offered to sub for friends' raid groups from Stormblood onward, but that's been it for me. I already have a strong case of anxiety and my experience just increased that further, sadly.
