Final Fantasy XI: Dark Knight Guide
Ойындар
The next in the series and the shortest one I've done yet, not by much though. The Dark Knight was one of the original Advanced Jobs in Final Fantasy XI and it's seen many ups-and-downs over the years. I hope I did a good job outlining where it currently stands.

I plan on coming back after 10yrs. I’m hoping the 20th anniversary brings ffxi to ps5 console if not I’ll give in to becoming a PC gamer. You’re guides are great and thanx for keeping ffxi alive

As someone coming back to the game from the 75 era, I have to say that this guide has completely changed my opinion on DRK to the point where I am wondering about levelling one myself. Thank you for putting the effort in to this.
I wish I could afford a new pc/laptop to play this again, I never got the chance to master my DRK I spent a good 11-12years playing. Your guides just make me want to re-kindle the old flames and play again! Keep up the good work on these videos, it takes me back to the good old days 😎
This must be a sign because I've been the process of gearing my first heavy DD job....DRK lol. Amazing guide!
At 17:01 I like the look of this. Don’t know how time consuming it is on your part but would love to see it more on the job guides
Superb DRK guide! Heavy Euro DD alongside the French Norman Dragoon (William). My prototype Galka attempted to meld DRK and SAM into Ushikirimaru heavy Samurai. Fyi, in the age of Napoleon Dragoon was a standard term for infantry.

Dragoons were originally mounted infantry, but by the time of Napoleon they had largely become cavalry.
omg yes thank you so much! my favorite job, now i finally finish optimizing it!
I've definitely cleaved using Dread Spikes and a GA. It's pretty useful.
that first step chain on yumcax was nuts
You were looking for comments about Caladbolg. I have AG Caladbolg, AG Rag, AG Apoc, AG Liberator, and Anguta. I may as well leave Rag in the mog house, I literally never use it anymore. Caladbolg smokes Rag. Caladbolg is way more powerful between torc spamming and the AM3 of Empy.

@@7Belial7 Calad, hands down and by a large margin
Great guide, would be good to hear what you think about SAM as well. Specifically what kind of stats to gear for in certain situations etc

I was considering doing a 'versus' style video of the Heavy DPS jobs. WAR vs DRK vs DRG vs SAM
I started playing a couple months ago, still not sure on what I wanna play when I reach endgame, your guides are very helpful though! Thank you. I'm subscribing.
Another guide already? Awesome!

I'm in for a very busy August and September so I figured I'd get this out before then.
I literally just got back on the game tonight officially after almost 11 years (Ironically) and this was my main. I'll definitely be using this content to get back into the flow of destruction ;)
Ragnarok III/Gracile Grip/Seething Bomblet +1 Flamma Zuchetto +1/Ganesha's Mala/Brutal Earrring/Cessance Earring Emicho Haubert/Sulevia's Gauntlets +2/Niqmaddu Ring/Petrov Ring Ankou's Mantle/Ioskeha Belt/Ignominy Flanchard +3/Flamma Gambiers +1 Emicho Haubert Augmentents: Path B HP 50, DEX 10, ACC 15 Ankou's Mantle Augments: STR 20, ACC 30, ATT 20, Double Attack 10 Preferred subjob for zerging: DRK/WAR for the extra 10% double attack, Berserk, Aggressor, and Warcry This setup TPs extremely fast due to stacking multi-hit, still maintains good ACC with GEO support, and can soundly out DPS a Tizona III BLU. DRK was the reason I started playing FFXI and it's my best job now. :) I also can't wait for them to allow Flamma to upgrade to +2, I want that extra TA and DA.

blu really isn't that great of a dps, many jobs can match or easily beat a blu
damn wish i hadn't lost my vids now soloing yakshi on DRK. it's probably the best job hands down and only reason i started the game back in 04.
The song at the start of the explanation of the dark knight's strengths... CHILLS. It definitely brought me memories of the power I once held.
I've been using TP bonus with moonshade thinking that would be better for overall weapon skill dmg, but could you explain to me why you prefer damage varies with TP?
The graphics for the Masters stars and the buffs...is that based on European game config, or is there something I need to update or reconfigure? Mine doesn't look that nice.
This should be updated to include Relic +3 gear. On my DRK, I only have an AG Apoc, and a half-built Ragnarok - half built, because I simply have no use for GS over an AG Apoc. With gear buffs, including some augmented SR gear, my Drain III has allowed me to cap HP a time or two. The DPS output with the Relic +3 set is amazing. I'm now looking to augment my Relic with the recent updates to Dynamis [D].

If you don't have Relic+3 gear, Sulvia +2 gear is great, given the Damage Taken Down.
great video, as a fellow dark knight, does Abyssal bead necklace replace all neck pieces?
Great Video man. Do you have a LUA that you are willing to share?
I love Drk, as well as Sch and Blu. Saying that, I love to /drk on sch. Absorb tp is insane, let alone can AoE it. And then use shattersoul to self SC darkness.
Hello I've just recently got to 99 drk and was wondering what relic/mythic/empy weapon should I prioritise on as my first.. a fellow drk suggested the ragnarok over apoc. Thanks man your vids are super helpful =)

Apoc for survive, Calad for bonk
Could you possibly post links to your gear sets. I'm having a hard time figuring out what some of the pieces are! Thanks in advance. This has really helped me since I have recently obtained Anguta.

I also would like a link to his scythe gearsets as im having trouble figuring out what a lot of pieces are.
Nice guide i see your ws dmg sets some of that stuff is hard to get
What do you recommend for subjobs while leveling and at 75? I'm playing on Horizon XI and trying to get prepped for the job while leveling WAR to 30 to unlock DRK. Thanks!
Hopefully, by now, you have a Calad. All end-game content where I'm asked for a DRK, the requirement is an R15 Empy. I haven't finished my Rag, but I plan to just to have a high-acc GS for my ACC sets. Whenever I resume the Aeonic grind, my next weapon will be Godhands (since I have no REMA for my MNK), but I am planning on Anguta after that. Question: Did you bother acquiring the Father Time for Drain spells? I know it's quite the extra step that might not be worth it given the fact that you can still net a nice bit of HP without it. Still, for some jobs, I aim for BiS.
Damn...looking at the damage output of a GS, I should resume building one.
Up to date drk guide please!!
My PC decided to die so I took up DRK on ffxiv. While I love tanking in xiv this made me want to get back to xi and continue playing... Loved this class!! Ty for the nostalgia
I swear I'm just now noticing you faced NMs with a full Trust team. I am going to try for the same ones. I generally use Yoran, Qultada, Arciella, AAGK, and AAEV. Given the degree to which my DRK takes hate, I may try using 2 WHM trusts and 2 BRD trusts like you. A Tank is useful for when I need to cast spells uninterrupted.

Apocalypse gives you some pretty great sustain, makes you pretty much unkillable with the Max HP Boost.
@CPhase2
5 жыл бұрын
Yes, and I've got some nice Drain boost gear as well. That said, I've faced some mobs that have very high resistance to it...even after Nether Void and Dark Seal.
I just noticed you use the "Damage varies with TP" on your moonshade earring. Is that superior to the TP + 250 Bonus these days? I haven't heard of anyone doing this. What does this do when it does proc?
@SplitFinn
7 жыл бұрын
Nah, by that I meant that the weapon skill itself has "Damage Varies with TP" on it therefore the TP Bonus Moonshade is the best in slot.
@lightningelf
7 жыл бұрын
Makes more sense. There is actually a Damage bonus based on TP + 5% for the moonshade. Had to check.
Ragnarok still worth it in 2021? Fyi i have both apoc and caladbolg
Thank you
Does last resort an hasso stack ?
I fucking loved being a DRK/SAM in an exp party back in the 75 cap days. Hit your macro and if u didn't kill the target after your weapon skill the tank had 0 hope of pulling hate back lol. Also DRK/NIN for rampage or DRK/DRG for the jump hate reset so much you could do.
Ever think about coming back? Did you go to another game after retiring from FFXI?
@SplitFinn

There's a decent chance I'll show up again in the coming weeks actually. I've had a very busy couple of months IRL so I haven't really had the time for gaming in general.
I enjoy the videos, but several of the jobs you describe as "gear intensive", and I wonder is there a job that's less gear intensive than the others?

I'm going to make a DRG one when I get back to the game, I'm having some down time for RL matters at the moment but I should be back around the new year.
So dark night is a dps while in ffxiv is a tank...? Why

because DRK was always a dps in FF Lore.

Lol same!
I remember in the first year of this game, I played as a dual wielding DRK/NIN. People criticized me when they saw it and made fun of me. But once people realized that having accuracy and speed over slow power was how a DPS worked, suddenly everyone and their grandmother was a DRK/NIN. Funny how people will make fun of a build before it becomes meta, then when it DOES become meta, suddenly the one who did it before it was cool is now only a copycat, not a pioneer.

Black Dragon King same here. I personally believe that Batman was DRK/NIN.

It's much easier to hear with earphones in I've found. I guess I'm just softly spoken as my neutral voice. That might make it easier to cope with.
