I just got it after 4 watches, but when Sephiroth says "perhaps you'd like to say a few words to your swords" it confirms he is speaking to Zack, who always speaks to his sword before combat like the final scene of Crisis Core.

In JP its even more obvious, coz he says "pray" instead of say.

The og FF7 had the exact same weird jump cuts when you visit Cloud's mom. It wasn't any less subtle you knew something was wrong with Cloud at this point even in the original.

I don't remember any jump cuts in midgar in the OG. It happened alot in the remake, so when it happens here you know somethings up

@sg1slate it happens all throughout the original game until Cloud finally remembers the truth. I was extremely happy that they kept the jumb cuts exactly like it was in the original when talking to Cloud's mom.

Yes I said that, too, but it didn't have the horror movie static lol. The jump cuts in the OG comes off more like passing time through dialogue that doesn't matter. Like a timelapse.

@Runebee lol, yeah, it didn't have the actual static, but it still had the static sound effects. That sound effect only played in the OG when Cloud would start acting weird, have trouble remembering something, or give a strange and sudden response. I just see it as them finally being able to do what they couldn't on PS1.

After playing this demo I'm fully convinced no one knows how to demo's like Square Enix they truly know how to do demos and I wish demos became a big thing again more gaming studios need to put free demos so us the fans and consumers can truly decide if we want a certain game or not, February 29th can't get here soon enough ! 🤘🔥

I remember the old discs on the PS1 that contained a bunch of demos for upcoming games (the jam pack I think it was called); I made so many purchases based on various demos I played on those.

Their aim with the demos is really to sell the games, often its the best part of the game itself (like in FF16). So it really does them well.

There is an FFVIII Easter Egg in Tifa's room, just FYI to anyone who wants to have FFVIII crumbs.

I loved the little subtle things like Tifa addressing Cloud but not really addressing Cloud. It was enough so if you didn't know, you wouldn't really pick up on anything but if you did know, it was a nice little nod. Also the southern version of Tifa's theme was *chefs kiss*

This is going to be excellent all the way. I am looking forward to Rebirth. We should definitely have more Remakes for the other Final Fantasy games as well.

I'm curious if they will show Genesis once the true events at Nibelheim are revealed. I get why he isn't in this version, since Cloud would never have known Genesis existed at all, but his presence at the reactor is cannon after all. Maybe we'll get a few flashes of him and a secret boss?

That would entail Square Enix being willing to pull out their pocketbook to license Gackt's likeness again. I don't see them doing that, given how much the character is hated.

they can enrich the story allot but showing genesis has to be done from either sephiroths perspective or zacks since cloud doesnt know him,but in zacks timeline they can show genesis or maybe sephiroth wil mension him. i am kind of hopiung that either sephiroth gets rid og jenovas influence and becomes good again or that maybe genesis appears and together with zack they can bring sephiroth back,i kind of want a redemption story along the way,i mean how assum would it be if seph becomes good again and ends up fighting jenova with cloud and the gang,after all jenova is technicly the big bad of the story.

No one was like, "Why didn't you stay at home Cloud?"

but i already know in the OG game, too, and it's subtle there. you can't look at the Rebirth version and NOT think "something is definitely wrong here." Also i can't remember if i said this, but i think the lack of subtly is intentional because they're treating the Remake trilogy like they assume you played the original.

Been "Something wrong here." for like 90% of Remake, too. People who only played Remake and not the OG will know something's up with Cloud, but no idea what. That's barely more than we had in the OG.@@Runebee

The sounds gave me full blown anxiety for a good portion of the demo. Now I'm too excited for the game to release 😅

how we see sephiroth change kind of indicated what i always thought that jenova took over his body just like in remake part one at the bridge cloud was forced to walk to sephiroth or jenova disguesed as sephiroth. these things strongly hint that jenova can controle people as was said what she did with some cetra. how els can you explain the sudden weird shift of personality.

ya the only part of the whole demo where they dropped the ball abit,the weird cloud button mashing this should just have been a cutscene where they shoot at seph and him just beeing to fast and cutting them down or even show that normal bullets dont hurt him. in some lore its even talked about how they did tests on sephiroth and normal bullets dont realy hurt him they just feel like light stings. the rest of the demo is amazing.

In the OG scene at Cloud's mom's house, it skipped around in a way that implied Cloud was being as vague as possible because he didn't want to relay exactly what he said to his mom. I honestly don't know how you convey the same idea here, without Cloud just kind of handwaving the entire scene away with like a one sentence explanation.

If you are referring to the end with her house on fire.. It's because Cloud's Mom doesn't say the line "You have to leave. You have to live." at the moment we hear it in this flashback.

i love the fact the flashback just Cloud and Zach's memories mix tothether, god. . . . the detail!!!

OG spoilers: They do lay it on a little thick here, but I do like some of the more subtle stuff too. Like how some townspeople mention it being hard to recognize Cloud in that uniform. When it's super easy to recognize him in the uniform he's wearing here.

I'm not sure I understand them saying if you play this portion of the demo that you can skip it in the real game because there is a good deal that was left out from the demo in this flash back. Like the part where Cloud has to face off against Sephiroth in the reactor. I hope they don't skip over that. And also the recap of Remake telling what went down before they made it to Kalm.

I loved the demo, but I kinda agree with most of your criticisms. Also there was a noticeable lack of those chosen by the planet/strength through suffering during this pinitol moment that kind of disappointed me as well... still though, gameplay wise I thought it was fantastic & I played on graphics mode so I didn't have any issues there like some ppl who played on performance.

I haven't played the original FF7 but I've played the Crisis Core remake and it seems Cloud is making up some lies... That's not what happened, in fact Cloud didn't even take off his helmet. And why is he not making any mention of Zack? It's like he's pretending he's Zack... I think Aerith would of liked to have known the truth about this.

Clouds memories are mixed with zacks, thats why he always grabs his head when trying to remember things, when zack was dying and told him he was his living legacy, cloud memories got mixed and he believed truly he was solider and will try and patch up anything to make sense, the real question is tifa knowing it was zack and not cloud and her not saying anything

@@Lorenzferus i never played the original either, i js played remake and crisis core, but it makes sense because of remake and at the end of crisis core cloud had mako poisoning and the first thing he does is see zack die so it makes his memories mixed up, tifa just confused me in this since she coulda said sum but didnt

If Cloud is lying why doesn't Tifa contradict him? Maybe Crisis Core was all a dream.

It's a great game but why did they go for the system that you need to go into a whole damn menu to use healing or spells and interrupt the whole fight, hate that so much. Why not make it more fluent like other games like if you wanna heal you do that right away and so on

you don't have to, you can hotkey healing spells.

You don't have to go into the full menu, you can use spells and items by pressing x and navigating the HUD in the bottom left and you can also bind spells to shortcuts like mentioned above.
