+MrGesellenstueck Actually this game is coming out in either 2016 or 2017. They have been working on it for a while but never told anyone until now. Not to mention they don't even have to work on the graphics that much since they copy-pasted the graphics from FF15 into this game. Although if this game is going to be released before FF15 no one is going to care about FF15 anymore.

The N64 was more powerful than the Playstation, but producing a game was also much more expensive. Also I don't think the N64 ever used Full-motion video. The Playstation was the best choice for Square.

Outset they remastered all the ffx and x-2 music in the new ps3/ps4 versions so they most definitely will.. i just hope they don't leave anything out or change them too too much

Can't believe I played this when I was 9 years old, it was the first game I ever completed as well. So happy to now be 31 next month and looking forward to this game so much :)

Joeie Rivera the gunblade doesn't work that way. There is no barrel that has bullets shoot as projectiles. Instead pulling the trigger shoots the equivalent of a blank round, causing the blade to vibrate, causing more damage with each swing.

It really is, but there is always those butt monkeys who see the comparison and complain how things are different. A few good examples are the battle system, how Cloud looks too thin (despite mako poisoning, but hey), the voice acting, and even the fact that Barret wears sunglasses. People nitpick without it even being out yet.

but its only been a decade since they flirted the idea of a remake when they released the tech demo of the opening thing as an extra bonus for buying advent children the tech demo was just showing how much graphical power the PS3 could put out and people back then thought they were releasing a remake of VII on PS3

+Noctis Caelum turn based was what made final fantasy the game we all played, it's what made it difficult, fun and way more strategic than a cinimatic FX fest that has caused them to make a portion of the story freaking paid content... you may call it remastered... but i call it a scam, ff10 was the last good final fantasy that got a 9 or 10 out of 10 on all critique sites... and screw final boy band 15...

I picked up the ps1 version with all cds good quality for 3$ for collecting and i didnt have a ps1, only ps2. My dad told me to see if the disk worked in the pz2 and somehow it did, but what sucks is i played for about 1 hour when i realised i had no memory card

Yeah PS1 games work in all PS main systems aka PS1/2/3/4. You just have to format a memory card in PS3 and PS2 you do need an old PS1 mem card but you can transfer PS1 save data to a PS2 mem card and for storage but you can't use the save data while it is on the PS2. Have not gotten an PS4 yet so not sure how it works there.

Yeah emulators tend to have bugs in them. Also they tend to fix the best parts out of the games in emulators like those quirky bug cheats on the old PS1 games. Also Emulators are downloads and I rather have the hard copies. I can sell the hard copies.

You can copy digitally your hard copy and emulate the ISO on the PC. Easy. Did so with one of my games. Worked pretty fine.

I remember the day my parents brought this home with a brand new PS1. My life was forever changed. 20 years later and I repurchased it and am now playing it with my 8 year old daughter. The feeling is still there. Wow. Not many experiences in life can match that, even with the upcoming remake.

Dr Boom I don't think it would, even in the movies he was bigger than the one in the game trailer. He just doesn't look overall healthy. There is nothing wrong with adding some more muscle. I don't think people would mind it either because it's appealing to the eye, if he got any skinny though that be an issue. It's like looking a an overweight person it's not appealing because it's not healthy and vice versa for someone too skinny. Reality if that's what square enix is going for, Cloud could use a couple of more pounds. I'm cool with if they keep it this way but he'd be perfect if he was bigger in muscle mass. It would just make more sense.

Dr Boom I agree with you, tbh the sword will never change. It's final fantasy it's meant to look possible. Cloud on the other hand, unlike the sword, is always changing in every time period. So it's only fair to make him look his part. You say making him buffer won't change anything, but it certainly will. I'm going off cloud alone. With or without his sword he looks funny. His body is to skinny. Zack's body is ideal for cloud to look. He had to have trained with the sword so realistically he'd put on some more weight. He looks skinny than he did in crisis core

there is something that games start lacking as technology evolves. in old games the developers had to find clever workarounds for the limitations of the time's tech (using sound to make up for a lack of visual detail for example) and that gave off a certain feel about the game. with enough effort put into that blending of elements in the attempt to complement what was lacking, it was possible to produce games that were far more than the sum of their parts. today anything a developer wants is a google search away and there is little that current technology does not cover, so they easily fall into the trap of just making the individual parts and gluing them together without much care about clever blending. also somehow, the visual approximation allowed the players to fill the gaps with their imagination making the participation in the game more than just holding a controller. just think back at the blocky character models of FF VII. when you think about the game do you remember the blocky models or a more realistic version of the characters like the one you see in the remake? that, was your imagination at work filling in the blanks and sharpening the details.

I've never liked the combat system of FFX12 and above. Crisis Core's was okay. But I really enjoyed the turn-based system. That's how the old Final Fantasies used to play. It's kind of like its own trademark. When I think of Final Fantasy, it's turn-based... Ah well. Let's just see how this goes.

Lizu Eif Final Fantasy 6 and my favorite game of all time I put it on Super Nintendo where was called Final Fantasy 3 I would love to buy that game again I haven't played it since 1994 I have a question for you is there really a remake of Final Fantasy 7 I would love to be able to buy that game again too I am glad that won since 1999 some of the scenes in this oven morning that looks like somebody's playing it doesn't look like cutscenes the description says Final Fantasy 7 for PS4 if that can resist I would love to play I just got a PS4 4 months ago and so far all the modern RPGs have a crappy battle system they're not turn-based anymore I missed the classics one of the guys at GameStop told me if there aren't any turn-based RPGs being made anymore if that's true then we live in a sad sad world

+Gabe Newell This is not PS1 version. It is PC version running on high resolution The PS1 version run on much lower resolution and had a lot of Jaggies

+maroom1 note with a proper tv - original ps1 version is the best to go. and even in steam 2012 pc and ps4 2015 versions game animation (battle and cut scenes) is still native 15-20 fps

When you compare the "Original" I thought you meant by the PS1 version and not the 1080p version.. kind of defeats the "original" purpose don't you think? Anyway I'll be getting this on PC when it arrives sooner or later, couldn't call myself a gamer if I don't pick up one of the best games ever made!

+Niall Higgins The PS1 it's ok, it´s just the same game, it doesn't matter if it's played on the PS1 or on PC (Epsxe)

square enix sure knows how to make a "REMAKE" the game looks bad ass. well as of CAPCOM I dont even know where to start, resident evil 2 remake was hanging on a cliff now, if they would decide to make it as an over the shoulder shooting gameplay, then resident evil 2 is definitely dead

...actually Square Enix did to FF7 remake exactly that. They changed the gameplay mechanic. I hate the possibility of RE2 remake having overshoulder gameplay and I hate that FF7 remake does not have the ATB system. But as long as they don't fuck up the story and the charakters I'll still buy.

Well, if you ask me, Capcom's Gamecube remake of the original Resident Evil was a lesson in how to do remakes. One of the best ever. A Resi 2 remake in the same vein would be incredible. I agree, the new Gears of War style thing destroys the spirit of what Resi isI was excited at the prospect of a FFVII remake, but now that I see it, as technically superb as it looks, I feel some of the soul is lost. I think I love the idea of the remake more than the remake itself. A large part of what made FFVII amazing was what brilliant encounter/twist or gameplay aspect you might get to see round the corner and once you've completed your first playthrough; no playthrough that follows ever matches the experience :/ Also... never been a fan of FF's english VO casting. The Japanese ones tend to suit the characters more (in my vision)

ATB is a hybrid between turn-based and action-based. The ATB guage charges over time and as soon as it's filled up, you can choose your action. FFXIII for some reason got hate for its ATB system when it was near identical to FFVII's.

***** I haven't played so I can't say. Looking at it now though, it looks sort of similar, but in Xenoblade Chronicles, I didn't see any charging gauge or anything anywhere, so I cannot be sure.

I think back to the old days and when I did nothing but say how great final fantasy 7 8 9 10 was and it was cos of final fantasy that I play games all the time now. when I look back to see how old these games are and where we are now with graphics its just awesome. I like everyone that has played ff7 must have tears in there eyes wanting to play this game. I hate the wait but pleased its taking so long cos I don't want them to ruin the best game I ever played when I was growing up.

2 years later still waiting for an update. Guessing part 1 around 2020.

Wait.. The remake is an action rpg? Well thanks, now I dont have to waste money on it.

The thing I hate about remakes is that people start talking down on the original. The original version of FF VII will always be a piece of my childhood, but the new one looks really nice.

+Nekozomi Schrödinger Yeah, it's a great change Square Enix took since VII's 1997 release, but I agree with the whole "this game looked horrible" fiasco when you consider the fan-base for Final Fantasies IV, V, and especially VI. No one's complaining about VI so far, so why this one?

+Bananas who owns the game rights since the original release? Even it's a remake the title is still own by Sony. If square Enix release for xb1 Sony can sue. They can make it for the pc but not for xb1. And I never heard of timed exclusive. There only exclusive rights. Why they didn't do a ffx release for the Xbox? Answer cause it's owned by Sony. Square Enix have to ask permission to Sony for releasing the game to Microsoft.

God damn! Gaming has come along way. Sure dlc's, season passes, day 1 patches, and broken ass games are ruining gaming as we know today. But just seeing that difference is remarkable. Too bad the remake is going to be in parts. Not a complete full package on day 1. The gaming industry surely loves to milk us gamers for every penny we've got. But not today, I'm not buying it until it comes complete.

Even though I have a PS4, I'm hoping it comes for PC and Nintendo NX.

Its crazy how different the final game turned out...and no barret around fountain anymore

want it badly. Back in 1997 I went to the original FF7's release party on some evening, in my hometown. Was given a gameposter and the game :) Great memories of playing the game.

The comparison of the train scenes made my jaw drop. Gaming has changed so much over the past 20 years.
