I love how the intro melody (that comes from the classic final fantasy games) plays constantly in the track in the background as if it were a more essential tribute than a simple detail reminiscent of old Final Fantasy normal battle soundtracks. Very ingenious.

Vivi’s cute little animation lives in my head rent free every time I hear this track 🥹

i don't know but this theme seems to fit better with the start of the battle theme that we can hear in all of FF games before and after FF9...truly epic...

I grew up with this, and I maintain this is the most powerful battle theme.

just the right amount of lively and atmospheric for D&D battle music. thank you for the long version.

Hopefully we get a complete remake one day, FFIX captured the essence of what Final Fantasy games are.

The only complaint I could level at FF9 was how they teased the concept of team up attacks with Vivi and Steiner that went nowhere afterwards.

My favourite game of all time is FF7 which Im obsessed about since 2020 when I got into it with the remake, my 2nd and 3rd favourite games are ff6 and ff10 but this is my favourite battle theme of the entire series despite me just recently getting into ff9 myself; I cant believe I never heard how good this game is from ANYONE before

Basically OG FF7 happened with a strong nature vs sci fi theme, departing heavily from the dungeon and dragons roots and then overshadowed every other FF, especially FF8. So by FF9, the playstation 1 is on it's end of life and squaresoft decided to go back to the roots, (literally, every single character is based off their FF1 counterpart) and we were like : where the heck is the sci fi theme ?

Same. XVI has the most "Final Fantasy" (adjective) plot and atmosphere since IX.

​@@ADcrackerjack Not many people played it, because it was released right before the transition between PS2. PS2 was announced before this was dropped so people were waiting for the PS2 to buy PS games, so it was passed on.

I'm not really a fan of FF IX but I gotta admit its battle theme is my favourite. It just makes every spell , every special move so satisfying

Ive always loved this theme compared to other ff game this one has a feeling of "its not that serious man" vibe to me, like its fun yet intense like your party knows they can win the fight but also no shame in running if you want

Still cant decide who wins shadow or amarant

If they ever remake this (as the same game) they gotta make the battle flow like 10-2 where multiple characters can do actions at the same time looool. Either that or trim down the length of ALL animations by half to 2 thirds

I'm here! When I got into Final fantasy and when I heard that I was like "wait a dang minute..."

FFIX isn't my favorite game of the FF franchise. Though it's been a very long time since I last played it. But this battle theme just slaps hard. That alone makes me want to give the game a try again.
