What cutscene did you get the first time around & which is your favorite? For me Aerith & I think that is my favorite one as well!

I got Aerith as well and am happy with it but I think Tifa’s cutscene is the saddest as she ends up crying about what happened to Sector 7 and the Avalanche members who died.

fianle I did skip some quest. I got all nine of the dresses. But if getting all 3 resolutions does not count towards Platinum then it makes it easier to forget about it.

Anyone else get the Tifa scene and for the first few seconds when she starting crying you found yourself yelling at Cloud "HUG HER YOU MORON!!!!" ?

Ha, I love how Clouds head turns when Barret mentions Tifa was given a bouquet of flowers. It only took one flower from Cloud to put Tifa in a good mood.

It reminds me of a story I heard! A rich man could offer a girl mountains of gold and a poor man offers a single goat. With all that gold, one could have whatever they wish. The poor man works harder, and will thus be more likely to care and work harder to make her happy. It may not fit 100% but it's kind of the same energy. It's less of what the gift is, bit it's the thoughts behind it.

The in-game description for these scenes says that "each character resolves to fight for Aerith's safe return". Which suggests the three optional scenes are all canon and they all happened in one night. The one with Aerith might be the one happening last, because she says it's almost morning. If each of the optional scenes are their resolution- Barret, Tifa, and Cloud, it means that the scene with Aerith is actually Cloud's resolution. Maybe that's why it feels the most appropriate story-wise.

That Tifa scene according to the FF7 Utimania book, they had a meeting if Cloud should hug Tifa or not and decided for him to hug her. Good choice Square Enix.

Alright, settle down everyone. We are here to discuss the pressing matter of the following: Should Cloud hug Tifa? OBJECTION! Cloud is not an emotional person so he would not know how to react! I disagree! Tifa is his best friend and he isnt soulless enough to not know how to comfort someone! However! He is shown to have no sympathy for other people's struggles! In contrast, he is becoming more emotional from being around all these different people. Alright shut up all of you. Geez. What would the buyers want because we should probably do what they want. Uhh...yes??? IT'S DECIDED.

Aerith knows, but the Aerith from the “dream” probably isn’t the Aerith we get to know from this game. It’s most likely the Aerith from the Original FF7. Notice how the Life Stream is so prominently shown in the background. She knows what’s going on in Cloud’s head. She tells him that’s she’s enjoyed all the moments they’ve shared to together, even though in this game they’ve only known each other for roughly 2-3 days. The Aerith we meet in this game still isn’t great at communicating with the planet.

Chase Ambrose the only thing that would make me disagree is that Cloud takes some time to warm up Aerith in this game. She kind of peels away that tough guy persona Cloud has, and grows to actually like her. I feel if he was just copying Zack’s memories, he would have immediately been all over Aerith.

I just finished the game and I am starting to think that the Aerith from "The Dream" could be the one who is already in the Lifestream and is gone; or somehow she knows that her time is near. Why she will prevent Cloud to do not fall in love with her?

I got the Aerith one. Broke my heart. Still remembered the original game.

Or alternatively it's because she knows it's not the real Cloud she's talking to, because Clouds memories are a mess at this point of the game and he is portraying himself as he thinks Zack would behave. This is supported in the OG during the goldsourcer section Aerith says "I want to meet the real you" when you go on a date with her. She understands that Cloud is confused and not his true self, falling in love with Aerith would only push him deeper into the false Zack persona he created because Zack was Aerith first love. At least that's how I interpretid the scene.

@@imbranato Except if Cloud was only replacing Zack with himself with an entirely fabricated personality then there wouldn't be any need for him to take on Zack's mannerisms or quirks. From victory poses, performing squats and even basic gestures in the OG they are shwon to be the same as Zacks. Cloud spent time a lot of time with Zack he defined what a 1st class SOLIDER was so it makes sense that his false persona would draw on many aspects of the man himself. But even if you disagree with me on the subtleties of his false persona I still think they would be valid reasons for Aerith to turn him down.

The first time I heard her theme in the beginning of the game, my eyes started to water up a bit. When her theme played during the cut scene with her and Cloud, I just cried like a baby. That scene was absolutely beautiful.

@@nitsuaevans354 I don't think Cloud really zoned out. His awkwardness with the high 5 with Aerith shows that he's very socially inept in many things, probably because of a combination of conflicting memories and the fact that he was very much the un-cool kid in Nibelheim. Since he's never really had to comfort someone before, he just kind of took what he knew from seeing Barret do it and tried something similar. But he also has a hard time restraining his own strength, so the longer he held her tight, the more it began to hurt.

In your version of the Compilation, Cloud is probably eternally seeking Aerith for revenge over his lost love Sephiroth and is searching for the Promised Land so that he can finally be reunited with the silver-haired man of his dream, right? :o

Yuffie ...in the original, the Gold Saucer date options were Aeris* (default), Tifa, Yuffie, or Barret if you didn't get any of the conditions for the girls. *Yes, I typed Aeris. For whatever reason, I started using Aeris to denote "original timeline Aerith", and now I'm just kinda stuck on that, so...I guess I'll keep doing it. If Nomura actually put that in at some point referencing the OTHER/original timeline's Aerith by that name, I would be floored.

@@SubduedRadical Aeris is actually a translation typo when FFVII was released in the West. The Japanese version is was correctly pronounced Aerith by their own English Translaters as well as from the Lore and Story Boards.

I prefer Aerith I love her character and how she teases Cloud she just brings another type of Cloud like she brings down his walls

I think the “ Cloud, you’re hurting me “ is going under appreciated. This is a guy Torn between his cold emotionless training, and his affection/attachment to tifa That he has had since childhood. He then finally gets the opportunity, and so desperately hold on to it, squeezing so hard that it hurts her.

I always went with Aerith in my first play through. Just felt more connected to her. I bought the game wanting to see the scenes with Tifa, the demo made me love Jessie, and playing the entire game made me love Aerith.

Well, Aerith relationship with Cloud is developed better from when they first met till her death. And her cheerful personality really complement well for Cloud ice cold look. Tifa, while having a standing relationship with Cloud, is just a "childhood friend" and their relationship was never fully developed until after Aerith death, which unfortunately was not that much in the original story. And I feel Tifa just seems to be "too mellow" and not expressing enough of her feeling, if she has any, for Cloud.

Aerith's scene is sad and warm at the same time. Love how Cloud tried to hold her hand

I got Tifa and it hit me so hard! It was nice to see her have a little break down and vent. But this is the first time Ive seen Aeriths scene. This game really draws Cloud's emotions towards Aerith. I think he truly starts falling from her. So much more than the original. He's gonna be so heart broke if she can't escape the original story's destiny.

I got Tifa and while I love Aerith and her scene I think Tifa's was more emotional and more on track with the momentum of the plot. I felt like she needed an emotional release and the scene provided that. Like... damn I'd cry like that too if everything I knew went caput.

One thing about OG FF7 that bugged me was how Tifa goes through all this shit but never seems fazed by it. It's always Cloud that is hurt or bugged from Nibelheim and Barret about the falling plate. It feels so much better knowing Tifa is actually hurt from it all in her scene.

“ 7 seconds, Cloud..7 seconds..what will you do in that moment?” In the original, from the time sepiroth appears until he impales Aerith is exactly 7 seconds. I don’t know what they’re planning but it’s probably gonna be some Star Trek/ End Game level timeline/loop scenario.

Oh wow. I got Aerith's, and I just thought that was the scene narratively. It made sense. Not to say the other two don't--obviously Barrett and Tifa both have a lot to work through--but I thought what you learned about Aerith, saw of the Lifestream, and glimpsed hints of the 'big reveal' that she's an Ancient just made sense. Man, I told myself I wasn't going to get attached to Aerith this time around because I'm still recovering from the original (it will always be too soon), but that sneaky charmer won me over anyway. This can only end in heartbreak. But bring it, I'm going down with this ship. ;-;

I got Aerith in my first playthrough but I actually prefer Tifa seeing it now. Up to this point, the story really goes out of its way to show Tifa trying her damnedest to hold herself together. You see cracks but she sort of manages. This scene feels like her finally having a chance to let it out when she desperately needed to.

Ultimania also says Aerith is pushing Cloud away because she is somewhat aware of her fate and doesnt want him to suffer like in Advent Children. But Cloud asserts his own feelings. It's just so sad.

When Aerith said "you can't fall in love with me" that really hit hard. Cause all of my playthrough I wanted nothing more. XD But I guess Claerith is gonna be a dream for me. :/

Apparently some people didn't play the original.... If you chose your text options exactly right throughout the game Barrett would go on the date with you instead of Tifa or Aeris.

I got the one with Aerith and I was really happy with this

I love Aerith's line about it not being real... it's almost as if she's hinting she knows his truth.

@Aaron9 It's hard to tell that her feelings for him truly left. You can break up with someone, and still love them. It may not be a thing both parties are mutual about but do it because there was no other way to keep moving forward. Be a bit more mature about it.

Cloud is emulating Zack, Aerith never has any contact with "the real Cloud", so if she likes Cloud..... But...that's just an interpretation, and that's the beauty of art, It can have many interpretations

Cloud identifies himself in zacks place in the MEMORIES they SHARED together but he still has his own thoughts and feelings NOT zacks. He doesn't think hes zack, he thinks hes cloud in zacks place (if that makes sense lol). Also, during the year when they were on the run while cloud was in a comatose zack told cloud a ton of stories which cloud ending up adapting as his own. I want to mention that cloud also has a flashback to his mom talking about the ideal girl for him and aerith fits the description.. thats cloud speaking.

This is like a Witcher 3 ending, and Barret is Dandelion.

In the original FFVII, there was something called the "Relationship Mechanic". It was a secret measure throughout the game of your relationship with each character. It influenced things like who went on special missing with Cloud and who he had certain cut scenes with. The most famous of these scenes is the "Golden Saucer Date" scene, where Cloud goes on a date with a member of the party. It can be anyone, including Red XII and the optional characters Vincent and Yuffie. I'm really glad they kept that in this game as well and can't wait to see how it develops going forward.

As far as I know, you can only date Aerith, Tifa, Barrett or Yuffie. The relationship mechanic doesn't record point values for any other characters. Still stoked they kept this aspect in the game. I didn't realize that you had options. I did all the Tifa stuff to hedge my bets for part 2 if they keep the Gold Saucer date. They had better keep it...

I feel like Aeith's cutscene has a big significance in the story, about how she's abit odd in the remake. Hohoho cant wait for the next installment

The Aerith’ s cutscene is haunting somehow. Every words that she said are still in my mind, and they touched my heart. I thought i was gonna cry at the time i saw that scene.

"and now it's dead and buried. like the bar. our home. and everything else. they took everything from us, again." damn, that hit me in the balls. i havent played the remake yet but i really like how they expanded on that grief. i was having flashbacks to the original FF7.

Well since Cloud says in the game" She (Aerith) is calling out to me, I can feel it !", I think the cutscene with Aerith (Cloud's resolution) is the mandatory one for the story. All cutscenes are great, but you know SE has the mandatory one for the story, they just wanted the players to have more choices in the game.

they are all canon, Barret in the evening, Tifa during night and Aerith as he's about to wake up.

The cutscene with tifa and cloud... He didn't want to hug her at first. But when he did. It wasn't that awkward "I guess i have to hug her back to comfort her". It was more like he was trying to maintain his cold "soldier" self that's why he didnt hug her immediately, but he couldn't resist so he eventually did hug her. I dunno maybe i'm just romanticizing things. I love it! :'( like all the pent up feelings finally showing itself through that little gesture.

These choice have BARELY any agency at all. There is no hard choice to make. It is arbitrary to the outcome. If you want to see a master class of choice mattering try the witcher 3. So many choices coming back at you in unexpected ways. In ff7, you get a dress and a cutscene that has nothing to do with the actual choices you made.

Got Tifa. The crazy thing about Cloud, is how dense he is and how he's an emotional brick wall. As someone who is exactly the same, I try to keep other people together even when I feel just, broken. So when Cloud hugs Tifa back, he squeezes her until it hurts because he hurts, he would never tell her that, but to watch someone who even Cloud thought was tough fall apart like that, and after watching a whole plate fall on the section. That hug wasn't for Tifa, it was for him.

Bullshit! Tifa is the only person who loves and supports Cloud. Ever since Cloud was a SOLDIER, his memory was distorted except his childhood friend and lover Tifa. After 5 years of their friendship and two years of separation, Cloud's heart was completely repaired and shows is strong true feelings for Tifa. He had kept his promise to rescue his girlfriend.

After all these years, I really went out of my way to show my love and appreciation to Aerith my first playthrough. The cutscene outside the house where she reaches out to Cloud in a dream was one of the most emotional sequences I've ever experienced in gaming. Story-wise it was very interesting too, but I was so emotional hearing Aerith telling Cloud not to love her, cause I knew exactly why she said it. This game tore my heart to shreds my first playthrough, and for that I will never forget it

Aerith’s had actual love and passion in it, Tifa’s was just a hug. I reallly struggled to feel any kind of connection beyond platonic between Cloud and Tifa, I’m really glad it’s not pushed on the player in this game.

Ohhh, it was a really hard decision for me when they were both lying down. In the end, I had to choose Tifa, because I felt like that's what Cloud would do in the situation. They were childhood friends, after all, and he had only met Aerith a few days before.

I think each of the cutscenes are great. My first run was Tifa but I didn’t know there was different cutscenes at the time. Honestly, to me Tifa’s is the simplest one to understand. Barret is next because avalanche isn’t a small group in the remake. Aerith however is up for debate. Since Aerith is showing signs of knowing what happened in original timeline, it can be understood as Aerith trying to change things, such as stop cloud from being so depressed over her death (advent children). Personally I think/hope that Aerith might end up living through this one because of the events in the remake. Though its not gonna be all sunshine and happy endings for all. Aerith isn’t the only one who has this knowledge and we all know about the butterfly effect.

It could be, time will only tell. Honestly there’s so much in the air it’s probably better to assume it’s a different timeline. Especially since the last chapter is [spoilers] focused on fate, destiny and remember what red said when they all saw the first bit of the opening cutscene from the original game? “A glimpse of tomorrow if we fail here today” And tbh, the last bit of Zack implies there’s another timeline so there’s probably gona be multiple endings. Killing off the controller of destiny has its drawbacks. In regards to the whole feelings bit you may be right though it can also be the other way around. It all depends on what’s kept from the original games. Remember, at this point Tifa hasn’t made much of a move on cloud. If Zack is still imprinted onto cloud (there’s evidence for this) then Aerith may start to fall for cloud due to the overlapping qualities of them both. I feel that the chapter 14 cutscenes will come into play, just remember cloud dreamed of Aerith, so it may be up to the player to decide the pairings (honestly that’s the best route imo)

@@artley9 honestly, I don't think it's a "separate" timeline, per se. What I think, personally, is that after Advent Children, when Sephiroth was defeated and said "I...will never be a memory", he found some way to travel BACK in time, and is trying to alter history so that he doesn't end up dying. No matter what, even if this means saving people like Aerith or Cloud. But because of his disrupting the timeline, it has made other changes - the Butterfly Effect - with Arith being the first to see it, then Cloud, and later the whole party + Rufus. I have no idea WHY Rufus. But everyone who can see the Whispers. The Whispers are fate's safeguard mechanism from the timeline being changed, but at the end, Sephiroth basically cuts into them, absorbs a lot of them (all of them?), and cuts a hole in reality. Whether this is a branching timeline or replacing/overwriting the timeline isn't clear. But I don't think it's a parallel universe. I think the Sephiroth you see and fight IS the original timeline/game's Sephiroth, post-Advent Children, trying to change history. And the events of this game are the result of him trying to change history, and trying to convince Cloud to help him do so.

The part where Aeris says that you can’t fall in love with me hit me on my fist play through

Like 12:29 playing a few bars of Barret's theme. Thanks for the video, @JorRaptor Neat seeing all the three scenes. I figured the Tifa dress thing would likely determine her dress later, but wasn't sure. I am curious what the "default" dress is if you don't get that scene with the option (a part of me thought - at the time - that you'd want to pick a matching dress in Wall Market, but of course you didn't get to pick the style...) It's kind of like the original game where you could go on a date with Aeris* (the default), Tifa, or even Yuffie, with Barret as the fourth option if you didn't meet the conditions of ANY OF THOSE. (Don't think I got the Barret one, but I got the other three at least once each.) So it's cool they did a little nod to that. *Just my own thing, but I'm using Aeris whenever I mean "original timeline Aerith". Pay it no mind. ...or make it a trend and maybe Square/Nomura will use it at some point. For me, it's just something I started doing for whatever reason, and I decided I like it, so...

I'm pretty sure she even felt Sephiroth's presence when she met Cloud this time. Her dialogue is almost scary second and third playthrough because she constantly sounds nervous like she's hiding something

i got the Tifa cutscene, and now that i seen them all here i am glad that i got that one. very emotional, best one of the 3 #teamtifa

Yeah it suited the dialogue in the next scene where Cloud says “she is calling out to me” and Tifa adds “she’s calling to all of us”.

I got Tifa in my first playthrough. She is one of my favorite characters. Also I love her scene with Cloud because to me it makes more sense with the plot. Tifa who is always trying to remain strong, broke down when Shinra basically destroy their home a second time. I do like both Aerith and Tifa, but I really like Tifa with Cloud. I don't think Aerith got over Zack though she seem to have move on a bit.

Aerith relationship with Zack was not serious.. even Aerith told so to Cloud in the OG at the park. She even says Zack was a flirt and he probabbly already found another women. In the novel, Aerith says she loves Cloud more...Come on!

Someone else said it first, but that's a moment when Cloud is conflicted between his "tough guy" persona and his affection for Tifa. It's why he hesitates to hug her in the first place, and when he does, he gives into his motions so much that he hugs her too tightly to the point it hurts.

Nojima explained that he was trying to imitate barret hugging tifa but failing at that bc of his awkwardness.

I love all 3 cutscenes. But man Barret's hit me hard. I know a bro in need when I see one. Give the man someone to talk to. He can't resist when your heads are together on the important things. Disagree all day long on the trivial, but if you agree on the vital, it won't matter for lifetimes who has whose back. It'll always be the both of ya'll. Choosing between Tifa and Aerith is practically impossible from the story I just spent days binge watching. But as hard as it is for me to say it, I'd choose Aerith. I want what comes to hurt hard. Especially since my kind of girl is her. If one of the side stories is choosing which girl to love, I'd pick it honestly. And it'd make defeating the final boss SO much more satisfying. But it'd finally let shippers shut their traps too. You can pick which one you want. I'd enjoy that.

I got Aerith's, and although I love all the options I truly prefer hers. I like the insight it gives the audience regarding the remake

I loved Aeriths the best as well. The way Cloud spoke to her... so sweet he never did that with Tifa's. In fact he stood there for so long doing nothing...lol You can tell Cloud's emotions are drawn more towards Aerith.. 😍😍

I honestly shipped Tifa and cloud in the original so bad. But the remake did this thing with Aerith.... she is such a realised character and the chapters with her and cloud feel so intimate as compared to the earlier ones with Tifa (imo) . I have really learned to love aerith and so pleased that I got her scene on my first play though

I got Barret I kinda like his because tells you about the other Avalanche members he knows and how he'd like to introduce Cloud to them

yeah I got Tifa the first time and had no idea they had the other cutscenes so thank you for bringing it to people's attention. I'm going to try and get the other two now

I got Tifa but perosnally loved all of these scenes, it's ff7 remake at its finest and happy you shared them. They also make me a bit sad because we want through beautiful writting and character exploration here to the mess at the end of the game.

I love that the "You can't fall in love with me. Even if you think you have, it isn't real" line kind of confirms that Aerith knows that Cloud's memories are mixed with Zack's at this point of the game.

Yeah, I got the Tifa scene on my playthrough and it was just such a perfect moment between her and Cloud that I didn't realize it was conditional until after the fact. Seeing all three, though, they all work here and I really like how the Barret scene goes into more depth in showing that his cell of AVALANCHE aren't just Barret's little band of expendable sidekicks (+Tifa), but part of a network of *people* who all have their own lives and reasons to fight together, and how much those people mean to him.

@@GOHST13ly all of them happen(they are all canon, you just get one) and they are not at all out of place. Every scene is fitting for the moment and the one that's most powerful, depends by the attachment of the player, so I would say really subjective.

Cloud seems more determined for Aerith. Plus I love hopeless romance, unattainable love. It's sadder and more fitting to the atmosphere of FF7

Aerith gives cloud the flower "lovers reunited after long time" and then the game forces you to have cloud give it to Tifa instead of the choice in the original. Makes the scene in the flower garden a bit more emotional.

Wow, I got Tifa's cutscene and had no idea... it felt so natural and I have been choosing Tifa whenever possible because I'm more drawn to her character (even though Aerith is an incredibly great character too!).

I got the Tifa one and it felt like it fit in with the story so well. I also did all their side missions

This just makes the game even more immersive and amazing than before. I never thought I’d get different cutscenes than what I got but damn does this make me even happier.

I was trying to get Barret cutscenes and u explain what I needed from ch3. The game game doesn't let u continue if u at least do one mission in ch3 to continue. Thanks mate

Aerith was my first but I've yet to Finnish the game and i glad did in my opinion (Just by viewing the other 2 in this video) Aerith's is the best out of the 3.

I mean, putting my any preference aside. The Aerith cutscene fits the most for me. Her character got captured, so the player already knows it is a dream. And it feels like Aerith is actually making contact with Cloud. The cutscene also supports the time travel theory etc. So it adds even more to the story, imo. I’m not on Tifa’s or Aerith’s side (yet) btw. I just made choices based on what I think Cloud would make in such moments. Imo, those other scenes should have been implemented in other points of the story. Especially Tifa’s.

I got Tifa & to be honest, I’m more than happy with that

Barrett’s character development in this game is so incredible. I can’t wait to see how the whole gang grows together in Rebirth. I want all of them to be integral to the story not just a side quest anchor and so far the remake has knocked it out of the park.

This is such a nice start to refresh this game I'm excited to see how the development department is going to incorporate the world map and all the different city's in the next faze of this project. FF7 is a massive undertaking.
