Final Fantasy 16 gave me post game depression (finale reaction)

Ойындар

As mentioned in this video, I apologize for leaving this series unfinished. Mentally, I've been struggling a little bit with my content. I feel burnt out and critical of myself. I loved this game so much, but the task of editing it became overwhelming for me.
That being said, I'm so proud of this video. I put a lot of time and effort into it. I went back to my usual editing style and it felt really nice. This game was so special to me, and I wanted to make sure the final video reflected that. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed editing it.

But when I watched it again here, a tear went down my face when Torgal howled which was heart breaking. I guess when I am so focused & on edge after a boss fight, some stuff in cut scene after a boss fight won't hit me until later because I tend to stay alert so it just blows pass me. This game ending hurt much more than the Zack scene. I Can't wait for the DLC for this game because they were cooking too hard with this game & not just cut scene wise but combat wise as well.

So about the ending, I would like to add something. I think Clive and Joshua both lived. When Clive absorbed Ultima he gained Ultima's powers. Being that Ultima is a God who creates life I think its safe to assume Clive could have done the same thing so bringing someone back to life is not so far out of the realm. Also, maybe I was looking too hard or just wanted it to happen but it seemed like when Clive used the powers of the Phoenix to clean the blood and close the wound on Joshua there was a mixture of Ultima's blue power mixing with the Flames of the Phoenix. So I think Joshua got revived. Onto Clive's survival, his hand turned to stone due to the curse however for magik to stop existing would mean the end for the curse as well so when Clive tried to use the last bit of magik he could not because magik was being erased. So, either his hand turned back to normal or he just lost a hand. Finally I think the red light in the sky dying meant it was also the end of magik in Valisthea...Now you ready for this because this one is one hell of a stretch so Im just throwing an idea out there. Dion survived as well. How? because his knight dragoons do not take fall damage when they launch themselves 9999 miles in the air and come crashing down so Dion being the literally dragon that he is and the leader I believe it would not be out of the norm for him to be immune to fall damage. Plus we never saw him turn to stone and being that magik no longer exist then as long as the curse didn't completely take him over he might have survived. I loved this FF and its my GOTY 2023. Unless Spider-Man 2...

It's one of those things we'll never have a definitive answer to. It's left ambiguous on purpose to allow the player to draw up their own conclusions. I can see why you would draw that conclusion, and it's a very valid take to believe they somehow survived. Personally, I think it makes perfect sense for both Clive and Joshua to die during the final part of the game. The game plays around with the ideas of heritage and titles (Cid being passed down as an 'idea' as much as an actual moniker) so I could see Loresman Harpocrates writing 'Final Fantasy' in Joshuas name to honor Clive's memory as they all knew how much he meant to him, and how he would have wanted him to be remembered as a hero. Furthermore, while Ultima could do a lot of things, we don't know whether he could actually 'ressurect' in the truest sense of the word. He seemed very fearful of the blight and death in general. Clive and Joshua also talk about how even the Phoenix cannot truly ressurect but only recover from heavy injuries (I believe it's during the first foray into Waloed). The way I read the final scene is a window into the future of Valisthea - There is peace and flowers, life and humanity managed to survive and bounce back. There is no more magic or eikons to fight over and stigmatize, and all the suffering and strife is consigned to fairy tales that seem too incredible to have happened without embellishment. It's everything that Clive, Joshua, Cid, and the people at the hideout wanted - but it's not what we the viewer might have wanted.

@@mathiasknsgaardkristensen3396 I agree with everything you said 100% and that is why I started off with I think because it is open and I was probably looking to hard when Clive cleaned off Josh with the flames. The mixture of blue with the feathers falling down upon him looking like a phoenix down. I just wanted him to live, did he? Well its open so. The biggest confirmation we have is that the name is under Josh so that doesn’t necessarily mean he survived. Clive said during one of the side quest he would like to put the sword down and pick the pen up. We are getting two DLC and though I doubt its going to give us answers for the ending it might hint more or, maybe we will see something about Leviathan.

both of them living would completely undermine the entire story and their character progression. why would anyone give a single fuck about the story at all if there are no consequences? people die, get over it. stop coping; they're both dead and they deserve to be dead because their deaths are the pinnacle of their story. Jote is using Joshuas alias to write his memoirs like many people have done before. i understand being upset, but going "no no no they're both still alive" is stepping firmly into fanfic territory. Do you really think the writers would shit on their own story by removing all pathos? Why would you even want Joshua and Clives story to be undermined by doing a "gotcha" with their deaths? What could you even do with their story after this point that would even be interesting at all? Them bonding and dying IS the story.

@@Sneedmeister so aggressive. I see youve been enjoying the Symbiote suit as well. Spider-Man 2 will probably win game of the year. I'm fairly certain Clive survived and wrote the story himself. There are a few things that point to this being the case, but the main one is the quest line involving Harpocrates. He tells Clive to write his story after everything is over. This could have just been a little thing they said for no reason, but I highly doubt that. I see it as foreshadowing. I think Clive survived (you only really see him pass out) and went on to write his story using his brother's name as a tribute to him.

This game destroyed me so royally I couldn't even turn on the PS5 for a week. There is DLC coming though, two in fact, but we're hoping one of them details Leviathan. I guess the main writer or someone specifically said it's intentionally open ended to the point where everyone is right and no one is wrong with their theories lol That frustrates me to absolutely NO end lol But I had to find comfort in knowing that, in the end, however many hundreds or thousands of years later, mankind survived and found its way without magic so no one died in vain. It's truly a bittersweet ending, for sure. Hopefully the next FF game will have a more solid ending that isn't so open lol Think the first time I played an FF game that had an open ending that royally ticked me off was FF7. The way it ended with that flash of Aerith and BOOM. Credits. No clue if the main party survived, no clue if Kalm survived and poor little Marlene survived. Nada. We just knew the planet survived with the 500 year flash forward post credit scene. OOOOHHHHHH I was fuming for months. Then AC came out and gave us an answer lol

When looking at most doomer comments here its a nice feeling to know about all the in-game hints and interview tidbits from game devs revealed in the Ultimania book. Makes it easier to digest the ending since there seems to be a decent chance of it not being the sad ending shown on the surface. Its confirmed to be open to interpretation, and its confirmed that the star fading does not 100% symbolize Clive's death. Jill only thought in that moment that her wish perhaps won't be granted - comment from the story writer. Also, another piece of the interview confirms Clive also ended the petrification curse together with magic. And the camera conveniently turned away. So make of it what you want. Truly a beautiful ending.

what would the story have to gain from Clive being alive? the story would be shooting itself in the foot if it went "OOPS JK HES REALLY ALIVE WE WERE JUT FUCKING WITH YOU!!!!" do you really WANT a story that has fake-out deaths? why would you want that? do you not respect life enough to respect death?

Honestly I wasn't much of a fan of this ending. Two FF games in a row where the main character sacrifices his life to restore a ruined world feels a little uninspired (not to mention all the other numerous similarities between both games). And FFXV did it better. That last talk/farewell at the camp fire justified that game's existence. Meanwhile in FFXVI I had spent so much time with sidequests I felt more invested in side characters than any of the main trio. Also the final scene (in universe) ended the entire franchise haha

right, the ff15 ending in comparison hit so much harder. helps the characters were actually likable in that game

@@PenguinsAreColdishI agree, that one hits me harder than whatever Clive sacrifices himself for. There were some aspects of XV and XVI that did better or less than the other of its parts, especially the cinematics and the story, even though the complete storyline of XV is scattered through tie-in medias while XVI's story don't.

Nothing fully confirms that Clive is dead though. There's more evidence of the opposite like he picked up the pen by the loresman to write the story and did it in Joshua's name like he did Cid. Clive is more likeable than Noctis plus this entry has the best Cid but agree to disagree.

The only depression this game gave me is the fact that I wasted 70 dollars on this crap. Absolutely hated it from it's lack of rpg mechanics, to its zero point in exploration, to its no challenge combat, to its boring and predictable story, to its MMO sidequests, to its boss battles that you watch 80% of the time instead of playing.
