I mean he openly admitted that he lost in an ign video prior to this, I'm sure he's still skilled regardless but it would make sense to assume he also practiced lol, so if practicing before a presentation puts you on a whole other level then sure. I think it would be more impressive if they gave a dev some sort of secret boss challenge he's never fought before, then to me if he did so well against it the dev would be on a whole other level

@@novum2915I think what he meant of Japanese devs being on "a whole 'nother level" is that they actually "play" the game. They play the game and are actually trying to get good at it rather than playing it just to playtest and check for bugs. Other devs are usually just playtesters and are not that interested in the game itself. I guess that's what makes Japanese devs on "a whole 'nother level."

Both of you are saying this as if every dev on the FF16 team would have been able to play the game this skillfully, yes obviously there are playtesters and people who just search for bugs and every other role as well, but what I am saying is that I'm sure they didn't just pull a random guy who programs the wall collisions for example lol, the original comment is too broad and general was the main point of my first comment So what both of you are saying makes perfect sense, I can agree that Japanese devs are dedicated and it's super cool to see them play their games so well, I think of Sakurai with Smash Bros and how good he actually is at Smash, but a dev or a certain group of devs playing their game to make sure it's actually playable and fun is also not the most surprising thing I've ever heard of

These devs know their game in and out. Reminds me of that video of the ARMS tournament where the winner gets to spar with the the creator of the game. The dev wiped the floor with the champion of the tournament without breaking a sweat lmao.
that's how game devs should be tbh... if they are passionate with their game and even managed to beat any challenge in their game without breaking a sweat, you know the game is gonna be great and balanced.

Coming back to this after having done this fight solo but at 35, this fight really does haunt you cause there's a high potential to beat this guy but maintaining his patterns is so tough. Dude even planned out proper counters and loadout positions for a perfect strat and of course he's very solid at the counters. Even upgraded specific skills to compensate the damage needed. I can't wait for people to hit NG+ and have very interesting tests on this boss.

The boss isn't hard at all, especially this one. Spam raging fist to destroy its stagger and just abuse titan, then limit break and unleash hell when it's staggered. Svarog is tougher

@@ShowtimeLaw Svarog is a whole different beast of course, but this one isnt exactly easy. not everyone uses raging fists either, i didn't. its difficulty mainly comes from its swing timing, its annoying. now an easy S class is the Chimera, that thing was a joke.

What I love about this game is the number of different builds you can have with 8 eikons. And the planning it takes. You have some very interesting styles out there. Like counter style, or will damage style, or physical damages, or focusing on aerial combos. It rly depends what you prefer.

Yeah I am almost at the end of normal game, and I have a pretty good damage build, where diamond dust does super good stagger, then a bit more fumbling around with normal attacks and a few abilities and then when the boss gets staggered I rain all my abilities on him and get like 100k damage.

It totally depends on your game style. These abilities are counter abilities so not good for everyone. I’ve seen some wild builds out there, like ones where eikon abilities enhance each other for insane damage. Like will of the wisp from ifrit and the lightning bolt from ramuh, ifrit ability actually hits the bolt and increases dmg even further to insanity. Every ability in this game is good depending on build.

After i managed to reach this hunt and finally defeated the S monster with only 2 tries, i can confirm that Titan is the only Meta you can count on during S notorius mark. For me Raging fist is really good to decrease stagger bar.

But that might be a bit unfair because he’s likely very nervous playing in front of a crowd, and that adds a level of difficulty I’m not facing at home lol But if we were to judge based on the gameplay alone, it’s not impressive considering it is quite an easy game. Haven’t started FF mode yet though

Going to leave it for 6 months or so and then try FF mode to see if it’s a fun challenge, but I really can’t see it being too difficult unless it adds a lot of mechanics to fights. The dodge-window is way too forgiving for that imo

Those are specific bosses you get from a bounty list later in the game. They're rank "S" in terms of difficulty but they're not so hard once you learn some of the patterns. The level gap doesn't matter. I had more or less the same gap when I killed Atlas. Next rank "S" boss after this one is lvl 50 and you can defeat it with a 10-15 level gap all the same. It's one of the easiest Final Fantasy I've ever played and even those bounty elite bosses (that are optional) don't even come close to the difficulty of some story bosses during the PS2-PS3 era of the franchise.

Both of you are saying this as if every dev on the FF16 team would have been able to play the game this skillfully, yes obviously there are playtesters and people who just search for bugs and every other role as well, but what I am saying is that I'm sure they didn't just pull a random guy who programs the wall collisions for example lol, the original comment is too broad and general was the main point of my first comment So what both of you are saying makes perfect sense, I can agree that Japanese devs are dedicated and it's super cool to see them play their games so well, I think of Sakurai with Smash Bros and how good he actually is at Smash, but a dev or a certain group of devs playing their game to make sure it's actually playable and fun is also not the most surprising thing I've ever heard of

Coming back to this after having done this fight solo but at 35, this fight really does haunt you cause there's a high potential to beat this guy but maintaining his patterns is so tough. Dude even planned out proper counters and loadout positions for a perfect strat and of course he's very solid at the counters. Even upgraded specific skills to compensate the damage needed. I can't wait for people to hit NG+ and have very interesting tests on this boss.

The boss isn't hard at all, especially this one. Spam raging fist to destroy its stagger and just abuse titan, then limit break and unleash hell when it's staggered. Svarog is tougher

@@ShowtimeLaw Svarog is a whole different beast of course, but this one isnt exactly easy. not everyone uses raging fists either, i didn't. its difficulty mainly comes from its swing timing, its annoying. now an easy S class is the Chimera, that thing was a joke.

What I love about this game is the number of different builds you can have with 8 eikons. And the planning it takes. You have some very interesting styles out there. Like counter style, or will damage style, or physical damages, or focusing on aerial combos. It rly depends what you prefer.

Yeah I am almost at the end of normal game, and I have a pretty good damage build, where diamond dust does super good stagger, then a bit more fumbling around with normal attacks and a few abilities and then when the boss gets staggered I rain all my abilities on him and get like 100k damage.
Honestly, this combat looks amazing, and from what I played in the demo, so much fun. But I also, as a big fan of Max (Maximilian Dood, the guy on the far left) I love that he's here with these guys commenting on this fight with them.

It totally depends on your game style. These abilities are counter abilities so not good for everyone. I’ve seen some wild builds out there, like ones where eikon abilities enhance each other for insane damage. Like will of the wisp from ifrit and the lightning bolt from ramuh, ifrit ability actually hits the bolt and increases dmg even further to insanity. Every ability in this game is good depending on build.

I'll be honest i didnt watch this video when it was release cuz i dont want getting spoiled. After i managed to reach this hunt and finally defeated the S monster with only 2 tries, i can confirm that Titan is the only Meta you can count on during S notorius mark. For me Raging fist is really good to decrease stagger bar.

Atlas is probably the easiest S-rank hunt to normal parry, so Titan isn't necessary. But considering the other choice at this point was ramuh, I guess Titan is mandatory.

But that might be a bit unfair because he’s likely very nervous playing in front of a crowd, and that adds a level of difficulty I’m not facing at home lol But if we were to judge based on the gameplay alone, it’s not impressive considering it is quite an easy game. Haven’t started FF mode yet though

@@user-ht4kp7py2c I didn’t feel as strongly about it as you but I can understand that. I enjoyed the game overall and the Eikon fights were the highlight for me. Going to leave it for 6 months or so and then try FF mode to see if it’s a fun challenge, but I really can’t see it being too difficult unless it adds a lot of mechanics to fights. The dodge-window is way too forgiving for that imo

I dont play the game but thought its a perfect exhibition, dev showed off a wide range of moves proving it can be done as another commentator said "once you git gud".
We I kill the lv 50 s class bounty on lv38 and when up 2 lvs only to 40. level really doesn't matter if you got skills(without the time accessories)

Those are specific bosses you get from a bounty list later in the game. They're rank "S" in terms of difficulty but they're not so hard once you learn some of the patterns. The level gap doesn't matter. I had more or less the same gap when I killed Atlas. Next rank "S" boss after this one is lvl 50 and you can defeat it with a 10-15 level gap all the same. It's one of the easiest Final Fantasy I've ever played and even those bounty elite bosses (that are optional) don't even come close to the difficulty of some story bosses during the PS2-PS3 era of the franchise.
Japanese devs play their games… Western Devs on the other hand… Not so sure.
I did it at level 35. I was proud of myself till i seen this. 😂

It's called rook's gambit, you do a backstep then you counter (has a stronger effect if an enemy attack was dodged)
I took on a level 50 mark in FFXVI at level 38 I died the first time learning the strategy but after that it was a fight and I beat him I don't have any real complaints in the combat of the game
