I love these kinds of montages.
Most of the time I just feel like I don't have the money, nor the friends to make shorts..

Joa Sanders I feel the same way. First off, I don't even have a camera or equipment nor the money to buy any. Next, I doubt my friends would be willing to act in my short film. Even if they did I have a feeling they'd only fool around too much or not listen to my directions. My family would be willing but I would feel too awkward to boss them around and make them do things that could possibly be uncomfortable. Its a weird thing but I totally get you.

Don't ask yourself "Do I have what it takes?" Ask "Do I want to get it?", and if you answered YES, than go! GET IT!

And GREAT words
If you have a vision, make it happen. You can't listen to anyone else because they're too blind to see your vision. If you're the only one in the world that believes in your vision, make something small on your own. For now they'll laugh. They might smile and think it's "cute". They might not pick up when you call. Stick with it. Because a few years later, it's going to feel so good when you're the one not answering their desperate phone calls. 😎

WOW man you really hit my heart, because this is what I really want to do in my life. It's not an easy job, there are a lot of cons, it's not easy to be paid, at least not immediately, and people don't understand how hard is this work, how many things you have to do and learn. But if you really love it, GO FOR IT! A lot of time I felt down, not motivated, but at the end, no matter what, I ALWAYS came back to my computer to edit or behind my camera to film, because I can't live without it, I HAVE to tell stories. Thanks man, this short film was more powerful than any motivational video.
I guess the general idea goes for every creative profession.
I actually got a little bit emotional by the end of the video. Like Frank Capra said once, "film is a disease, when it affect you bloodstream it takes over as the number one hormone.[...] As with heroin, the antidote to film is more film." I just can't stop at least trying to make films.
I think Simon Cade & his channel is one on the BEST out there TODAY for all and any aspiring filmmakers. He is one of the best & most honest & inspirational forms of social media out there today. His approach & integrity to EVERYTHING he does is a testament to his skill & fortitude & I know from experience he will be GREAT at what ever he does next. WE all wish him well. - from NYC

inspiring! it's a shame im tucked in bed at 2am, will have to watch it again tmrw morning :P
It sucks no one doesn't want to be in my films from my friends and family, so I wrote screenplays hopefully to get someone to collab with since I'm not in a film heavy community:(

I relate to this. All my friends say it is too much commitment to be in my films.
Personally think not giving up is key. The longer you give it a go, the more practice you get, the more mistakes you make, the better you'll get. Don't take failure as a sign to give up... Learn from it and let it motivate you to get it right next time!
NEW UPLOAD! I literally am so happy.
This is truly amazing and touching! respect
Your production quality has gotten a lot better over the past year :)
I've been watching your videos for a while now and I can't even begin to explain how much they've helped me out. Thank you.
Thank you DSLR Guide! Your videos are not only educational but extremely inspirational!
Guess I might as well just keep trying no matter how hard it gets. Seems like the story of life. Great video man.

I love how none of your videos feel like they are being made just for the sake of you needing to make a video that week, all of your videos cover really big things and I really appreciate how you do that.
Thanks for giving me a goal to work towards for my most recent short. And keep up the amazing work, your videos are a real inspiration to me and sometimes are what I need to keep moving forward.
You went from tutorials to inspirational videos. I don't know what it is but everyone of those inspirational videos corresponded with one of my film related endeavors. This time i just released the teaser trailer for my first professional short film. Thanks heaps for this man. I am going to use the audio as a motivational speech for everyday. Keep it up and big fan/supporter from Australia
Beautifully put.
This is now perhaps my favourite video of yours! Nicely shot, nicely edited, sound is great, it's slightly dark but that works along with the color grading, giving off a 'this isn't easy' vibe.
I'm 15 And I'm want to be filmmaker all my life,I have so much to learn to fulfill my dream
Srsly been busting my ass filming a kickstarter project, this video is just what I needed to see right now man thank you.
I've been watching your videos all day long. I want to pursue a filmmaking career and if I want to make that choice, I have to do it this year but sometimes I do get a lot of doubts because of how risky it is. I came here looking for tips to get the best out of a DSLR camera so I can shoot my first short film once my new DSLR arrives on Christmas. All of your videos inspired me and got me even more excited about becoming a filmmaker. This video was the icing on the cake. Thank you Simon, please never stop doing videos on this channel.
I've been trying to put together a short film for a long time, it's been really hard, thank you for making your videos that help me try harder
I am a photo enthusiast and I'm getting really inspired by your work. The planning, preparations and shooting is, when I cut it down a great deal, I get the single frame. Thank you for sharing, keep it up!
I've had this video bookmarked at the top of my chrome browser for probably the past four years. Whenever I was discouraged or needed a kick in the ass I would come to this video. I haven't watched it in a while, but here I am again. Only this time i'm headed for my dream job as a Videographer. It's been five years of working a full time job I hate, going home and grinding out video edits until midnight, shooting video after work and on the weekends, branching out and trying different mediums and now I can finally say that video production work is my full time job. It's weird to say it and I don't think i'll get used to it until I actually start. I don't know who needs to hear this: but you can do it. You just need to believe in yourself, be positive, put in the work, put yourself out there and don't stop no matter what anyone says. No matter what ANYONE says.. And half of that is really enjoying what you're doing otherwise working all day and then grinding the rest of the day will just make you miserable. Thank you DSLRguide, this honestly helped me a lot.
Thanks Simon! These videos get better and better. I am looking forward to this weeks episode
I'm editing this weeks video for my channel and this is really motivating. I'm in love with your cinematography, sound design, and color grading. But above all, your story is always great. Well done 👍
i saw all the process in this guy edit and im sorprise with all the details in sound desing taht you put on this, those details put the video in other level.
I needed this video at this time thankyou so much
Hey Simon! I just wanna say that your videos are really helpful and I have learned a lot from you. Whenever I need motivation for something I just watch one of your videos. Thank you for that and I hope that will not change any time soon. Thank you for everything and keep up the good work!
I discover you some weeks ago and you've been a very big influence on me, and now with these kind of videos it's more like an inspiration. I appreciate your work a lot. Keep improving. Greetings from Ecuador! :D
This was such a beautiful piece. Thanks for the extra kick of inspiration!
So great to see you and Sven collaborating!
This is exactly what I'm going through right now and so my connection to this video is above and beyond
Can't wait to see your next project
Thank you for putting this together. I've had the sensible job for years and now hearing someone else say, "if it works it works, if it doesn't at least I can say I tried" is incredibly reassuring! Trying out something new at 42seems incredibly ridiculous. But I can say that I appear to have something in chair of my own! Again thanks for putting this together and thank you to the gentleman in tge film for his honesty and sharing!
"... but at least I can say I died trying" That is exactly how I feel. I don't think I'm gonna stop. Thanks for this video.
Sweet!! Great job. Thanks for showing the struggle of filmmaking. Sometimes it seems like other people just breeze through the process with ease.
That was AWESOME Simon! I think it's your best work, congrats and keep it up 🙌
Dude I only found you a couple of days ago and you're actually impeccable! I'm going to be a long time subscriber :)
Beautiful Simon l! Love that you embody the story rather than equipment and truly silence all those who think equipment is what makes the film. Bravo
This is exactly what I needed. I'm a communications major. 2 years into my degree and struggling in some of my classes with keeping up with creativity etc. Needed this.
So true when you see your results its always filled with regrets. I cant find any of my works perfect. But this taught me one great thing. Keep moving.
Yes! Another short film!
Loads of great scenes that really hit home here Simon :)
This really amazingly edited and the visuals are simple and great! congratulations!
Only channel on youtube doing this kind of stuff, amazing videos!
Great work Simon. You've approached the story telling in a very meaningful manner by speaking the customer's language. Keep up the good work. :)
One of the most inspiring things ever. Thanks Simon.
Sweet!! :) Can't wait to see what goodness you cook up next
This speaks to me so much! Really great video Simon!

I also just noticed, that your storytelling - even in a video like this - has very much improved. (structure, highs and lows,...).
I can tell you've put your heart into this. Great job, really like it
jump from TGE channel and yes! this is the an other split of those cuts. love your and Sven's job and hopefully seeing more like or beyond this one
i just love the intro of this video! the music is awsome. this is like the 15th time I've watched it
Great job. I am very impressed. It is outside of what you usually do and you did very well.
You the best!
Your basically my guru, I have a ton of respect for you, you've taught me a ton and I'm gonna use that knowledge well trust me.
You are such an inspiration. Love the channel.
Well done Simon, excellent and thought provoking little piece.
You can inspire to be a astronaut... a movie star or the lead singer of a rockband... in the end... all of 'em are jobs that require a lot of effort... dedication... commitments... sacrifices with strugles along the way. As with filmmaking, I do as well think it's overromanticized sometimes perhaps. It still is tough... but it's a journey. And in the end, having given it your all, seeing what you've actually accomplished, however... I don't think there's any more of a rewarding feeling.
You are an inspiration, Simon.
Thank you so much this helped re-motivate me to write scripts for short films
i love you Simon Cade, i am planning to frame your picture on my home entrance, because that much i love you more than any celebrities!

This was really really good, inspiring as hell.
Amazing Simon!
Love your videos so much!!
I been so hesitant to keep going because I'm scared I won't be able to afford a living if I chase this dream but after watching this, it made me realize that i much rather be doing what I love than to keep hating my regular minium wage job. Thank you!
