Filming the Algerian Independence War: The legacy of Stevan Labudovic | Witness Documentary
A trove of unseen archive of the Algerian independence war shot on 35mm film is uncovered in Belgrade. It was filmed by Stevan Labudovic, the cameraman of Yugoslav President Josip Broz Tito.
Labudovic spent three years filming Algeria’s independence war with unprecedented access. His images and journals inspire this little-known story of how Algeria's National Liberation Front (FLN) harnessed the power of cinema and media to diplomatically win a war they had been destined to lose. In the process they created a playbook for modern information battles, taking their struggle all the way to the heart of the international community - the United Nations.
Cine-Guerillas is a documentary film by Mila Turajlic.

The era when Algerians endured slavery, massacres, torture, and oppression is over. Many Algerians now contribute to French society, filling hospitals and universities.

Declaration on the Granting of Independence to Colonial Countries and Peoples. It was adopted by the UN General Assembly on December 14, 1960. 89 countries voted in favour, none voted against, and nine abstained: Australia, Belgium, Dominican Republic, France, Portugal, Spain, Union of South Africa, United Kingdom, and United States. All radio and television broadcasting in Algeria is controlled by the government. There is no freedom of speech or assembly. So the revolutionaries learned a lesson, it was just the wrong one.

That includes people outside of the occupied territory as well as the majority of the world people who support the Palestinian cause. In this modern-day world, battles are not won by sheer military force, but are won rather by the tact of the social media. The mainstream media propaganda has fallen apart in the face of hard facts put forth by the unbiased journalism of citizens across the globe. Thus, Israel has lost the war on the world stage, and its lifeline - US backing - is hanging in the balance! Because without that Israel is a big, fat, zero! People of the US are waking up from their trances, and very soon you shall see that their war criminal leaders are facing the music! Sunak of UK is already down! Biden to bite the dust next. Then the show at the ICJ and ICC shall begin!
The people of Algeria are a revolutionary people who love freedom. I respect the Algerian people because they created, with simple means, the largest revolution in the modern era.
A wonderful documentary and a fitting tribute to Stevan Labudovic's selfless commitment to the Algerian struggle for freedom.

There is no such thing as peaceful liberation of a country
It is very important that today's youth understand that their freedom came at a price and that it was their parents, close or distant, who paid the price, through immense sacrifice, unimaginable suffering and that they did it without flinching, without hesitation, so that their children and grandchildren could live free! The only way to do them justice is to take care of this precious heritage, to make it grow and to share it with all oppressed peoples. Long live Algeria and long live Palestine.

The generals of Algeria had total control who is the president, and control of the judiciary and l'économie

Unbelievable My grandfather was a Coporall at the FLN and part of the ALN too. The thing is finding information about the ALN is very difficult, so I was suprised he had a knife from them.
I just would like to thank Mr Stevan Labudovic and all the people who helped us to retain our country back from the barbaric and the invaders who thought that the Algerians wouldn't be able to fight and force the enemy out off our land.
What an insane documentary i am Algerian and have never seen much footage of the liberation war ! Thank you Stevan you wrote and filmed history and of course you are a part of Algeria's history !!!

My late dad was put in prison and tortured by france army, and did not come out of prison till the independence . He was then branded as terrorist, but now he is a freedom fighter. Free Palestine .
