Steve, a sincere thank you for this great video! I've had my 55 inch U8K for about twelve days, and it is fantastic! I never thought I would be able to find an affordable LED set that did blacks as well as my old Samsung PN51F5300 Plasma set that I still use in my bedroom, but here it is in this Hisense U8K! And the brightness is just incredible! This set is an absolute STEAL at $750! And the two year warranty is awesome as well!!! Hisense hit a huge home run with both their H and K series sets!

I have to admit if TCL had offered the QM8 in a 55 inch size (65 inch is to big for my set up) I probably would have bought that. However, since they didn't, I went with the 55 inch Hisense U8K and I love it! I calibrated it to my personal viewing preferences and it looks amazing! By the way, I love your videos, keep up the great work!

Tech Steve. I've been hoping to find a comparison of these exact two(2) TV's. Thank You So Much! With so much adjustment control of the Hisense, I'm the person that would have everything so messed up it wouldn't be funny. I do have a full 5.1 surround sound system via a Yamaha AVR. Would the xtra power of the Hisense be better than the TCL? I really want a 75" version, although the budget calls for the 65"... Really appreciate all the excellent info on both TV's. Thanks Again!

Do any of these tvs have the option to Screen Size Adjust that will allow players to rescale the display within a smaller area on the screen? I've heard that Sony is rolling out with this feature for newer models in their next update.

I’m loving my 55 U8K. I watched premier league in the am which looked so good, watched the UFC fights also with same quality. I played Last of Us 2 with the deep blacks comparable to my c9 and c1. I watched The Flash which friggin looked amazing with the Dolby Atmos sound. Personally I think this tv gives u the best bang for your buck. Yes the viewing angle loses something from the side.

Seems like the QM8 video quality is better on every aspect except EOTF and processing, especially once you go over 65" since Hisense AGAIN decided to NOT add many dimming zones after 65"... (85QM8 2300 dimmming zonez, 85U8K 1296??) But how is the processing compared for low bitrate upscaling? I'm trying to decide between the 85QM8 or the 85 U8K, looking picture quality mainly.

I don't believe it's that big of a difference in person. I own the 55 inch Hisense U8K and after calibrating it, it looks amazing. If I am not mistaken, this videos shows straight out of the box picture quality and the TCL wins in that regard. In reality, I love my Hisense TV and since there is a $600 difference between the 55 inch Hisense U8K and the TCL 65 inch QM8, I went with the Hisense 55 inch U8K primarly for the lower cost and also the 65 inch would have been to big in my bedroom which relatively small. I recently watched Speed Racer, the 2008 live action movie, and the colors are so bright and colorful and the most absurd part is that movie doesn't even have HDR yet and the colors still look so dang good. I would definitely recommend the Hisense U8K!

I returned my 85QM8 a couple of weeks ago and just ordered the 85U8K. I did love the picture quality most of the time, but Dolby Vision was not great during the day and the sometimes the procesor would struggle a bit. Did I make a mistake by doing so? I do feel like swapping 2300 dimming zones from the 85QM8 for 1300 85U8K sounds very significant. But I was hoping that the slightly better processor would make up for it. I mostly stream sports, movies and tv shows, but considering purchasing a PS5 for the holidays. What do you think? Im specting the 85U8K in 1 week. Im currently using the X90L, and while its amazing in SDR, it doesn't feel as punchy as the QM8 did. I was hoping the 85U8K would be a mix of both the X90L due to the slight up on the processor over the QM8, and more punch than the X90L 😂.

💯, I wish this dude would post calibration numbers because OOTB the QM8 is kinda awful, not being able to adjust settings is just not true either (granted he's right about lack of LD control) DV implementation isn't great either but I already run a SHIELD so this is a non issue when I can just HDR10+ it instead. The only thing that U8K has going for it is a more powerful chipset and proper EOTF numbers, hopefully that last part TCL can patch out.
