I wonder if a better TV will be on sale for black Friday. I guess wishful thinking 🤔 by me but you never know. Maybe them getting rid of last year's best or maybe this year's. I mean what if a 77" G3 were to drop to 3k. 🫨🫨🫨

@@everythingfan9726 what I did notice initially is this: flickering. I wasn't sure where this was coming from, so I tried watching normal YV via my indoor antenna. And I noticed there was no intermittent flickering at all. This led me to believe the chief cause might be the connecting cables that run between my TV and my Hisense soundbar and gaming console. I used the HDMI 2.1 cable. So after a bit of trial & error, I downgraded to a HDMI 2.0 and the flickering stopped. I honestly don't know the how or why, but it worked. So, I ain't complaining There could be different reasons to why yours is happening. Try what I did, google and see if others have had similar experiences & their fix. Finally, if you bought yours within the last 39 days, try adding a 4 year extended warranty. The reason I'm recommending this to anyone buying a TV these days -- especially ones not named Sony is because as technology advances, the TV durability shrinks. Look at YVs made 15 to 30 years ago. Many of them last a super long time. But the ones these days, you'd be lucky if you got 5 to 6 years out of them.

Thanks for all your efforts to supply this information to us viewers. I just purchased the Australian version 55U7K yesterday, it is still in the box. Apparently this one is the better gamer! We had a Hisense at work purchased about 3 years ago and i thought it was excellent so i bought a Hisense for home while the black Friday sales were on. In Australia cost approx $ 980 aud, retails for approx $1,500 aud. Our dollar is about .65 aud to 1.00 usd.

The Brightness setting is actually "Digital Black level", it does not make the screen brighter in the way you are thinking. It should never be set above 50 to preserve black level. The setting you were looking for for Backlight, that is what makes the whole screen brighter while preserving gamma.

Today is black Friday, 2023 and I just purchased the Hisense 75" 75U7K online for $900 + tax. The 75U8K was selling for $1300. Based on your excellent comparison here, the brightness difference was not enough to warrant a $400 price difference and the U7K was even winning in some respects. Interestingly, I later discovered the 85U7H was also selling for the same price ($900) on the same site I just got the u7K from. It was too big for my wall, else I might have canceled my order and gone with the larger unit. When there is nothing to compare sitting next to a TV, the picture quality ain't so bad. :) @TechSteve, I commend you on whatever camera you're using to film. Very clear video, as is needed for these detailed comparisons. Thanks for your efforts and expertise.

Also another thing I need to figure out is the volume watching movies can be very low then one scene volume will jump up super loud. but overall for the price the TV is amazing compared to the higher priced bigger name brands I have been with Hisense for almost 4 years now from watching your videos on budget TV's

I own both of these TV's along with last year's 7 series, the U7H. 2023's model the U7K 75" that I own looks very close on brightness to the U8H in a side by side comparison, especially when it's put in Filmmaker Mode and it's Local Dimming is placed on High. I noticed you have it set on Medium, the difference between those I have found is about 150+ nits of brightness.. and you have it in the Day Theater mode and on Standard instead of Warm 1 where you get a more pure white balance. You're not taking full advantage of what this TV can do. I've spent weeks on getting mine dialed in and it's very impressive, especially for it's price point vs value. I'm very pleased, and I've very much a fan of the high end Sony OLED's which i also use as a main driver. But the U7K does a great job hanging in there for a VA panel Mini-LED TV.

When It Comes To Dark Scenes It's Still a Fantastic Picture Especially In Theatre Mode. listen other review. first because same if he use a good camera, tvs are in the same video so its a very bad thing. need look in real OR capture the tvs with 2 video and mount with a software to post a side by side video. the other thing, if i understand correctly he dont change any setup and can be an honest thing, but in real he have to put the tv with the same setup. here, tvs have a different setup. just an example and i have 2 hisense: medium local dimming is darker than maximum. its an error need same setup to compare.

Cuz you're looking at it on a camera being compared to another TV. It's a camera/optical issue In person it won't look overly dim. Especially not if you don't have a brighter TV in the room, but even if you do it doesn't look quite like that 🤷‍♂️ This is what happens when you try to expose for two TVs at the same time when they arent the same brightness. Either one TV looks incredibly dim or the other TV looks incredibly washed out, but neither fully indicates reality
