I have an uncle who tried to keep every single toy he ever had and keeps them in a room. The room doesnt look creepy, its actually quite nice. He takes extremely good care of every single one of them and (I'm not embarrassed to say this) even plays with them to this day. He says that he used to believe that toys were alive when he was young. He says he does it for the nostalgia. I give him the toys that I have lost interest in. If there ever is a toy war, this man will survive.

Everytime I would set aside my toys to go to the secondhand store, especially if they were ones that I loved dearly but no longer needed/used or thought about, I would say "thanks for the memories, hope you bring as much joy to the next kid as you brought to me". One issue with this: Mr. Potato Head is the only type of toy we see controlling their own severed body parts. When Buzz's arm falls off, it's dead, devoid of life. Same with Woody's arm in the sequel. There's clearly a center of consciousness for these toys

I was always terrified of the toy story movies as a kid, still am actually 😅. If they did come to life they would probably hate me, let's just put it as I got distracted easily and liked to chew on anything. Over half of my disney princess toys that had that plastic thing in their leg so it could bend ever so slightly ended with it poking out through their chewed ankles :( I didn't want to mistreat my dolls but it was habit as a kid. I also lost all their clothes so they were pretty much all naked. My stuffies I would be more safe from though, love those guys :D

Wow. I’d never thought that deeply into the lore of Toy Story but these hypothetical ideas are very interesting! The list of things that cause a war in society were insightful for real life too. This is definitely one of my favorite theories from the channel!

One small problem with the ending. Mr. Potato head taking over a tortilla is an ability exclusive to him and any other potato heads. Buzz and Woody have both lost in arm at some point. From that point, until they were re attached, Buzz and Woody had no control of the arm that they lost. Woody even lost control of it when his arm was only partially ripped off.

I think you got the thing with Mr. Potato Head and the tortilla wrong. He didn’t make the tortilla come to life, he was in control of his parts off of his main potato body and also the tortilla was still flopping around like a normal one so i’m gonna debunk that right now.

Totally agree. When I hold an object I don't have "physical control over it", I can just manipulate it with my hand and fingers. Mr. Potato Head was dragging the tortilla around by his arms and legs, that's why it kept flopping around. He never had direct control over it.

A human knowing about the masquerade would be VERY powerful. They could, for example, 'play' with something really powerful/dangerous like a construction vehicle, stick some googly eyes on it somewhere, name it, etc., until it's considered enough of a toy to come to life. You wouldn't know immediately, but if you could convince it and/or manipulate it into coming to life and being loyal to you, you could have an anomalous, immortal servant machine.

This would actually fit with pixar theory. If the war with toys became the reason there was enough trash to push humans off Earth.

​@@acedia4454 The only Buzz's that were alive in Toy Story 2 were Original Buzz and Display Buzz. Original Buzz had gotten a personality by Andy and Andy's other toys, and getting stuck in another box didn't change that fact. Display Buzz had been on display and had gotten power by the children watching him, but he wasn't truly alive until he was interacted with, even if another Buzz was the one interacting with him. The scene at the end of the movie is non-canon.

I always thought my toys were alive when i was little and treated them like my siblings. I still go back to old toys once in a while. I clean up abandoned toys and donate them

Ok but for real, last year I watched all the Toy Story movies WAY, WAY too many times on loop and pretty much lost my sanity (well the little amount I had left) I literally talked to my toys like they were real people so that they wouldn’t get offended and possibly try to murder me in my sleep……….. Honestly I should consider going back to therapy so I won’t be as messed up as i am now once I become an adult
