BETTER CALL SAUL is one of my favorite shows on TV right now. However, there is one key character component that has always bothered me: Chuck's supposed Allergy to Electricity. I mean, he's gotta be Faking it right? Electromagnetic fields aren't something you can be allergic to! Well it turns out that's not entirely true, but that still doesn't mean Chuck's not faking. In this episode, I Reveal the TRUTH behind Chuck's alleged illness!

    Hey Friends, Just FYI: This episode was done a few weeks BEFORE the "Saul" episode airing this past Monday...the episode that makes all of this pretty obvious. It was kinda a BUMMER, to be honest. But hey, they still don't give a FULL scientific explanation of everything, so now you know the actual science behind it all! #SilverLining -- MatPat

    Chuck is not crazy! He knows Jimmy swapped those numbers! He knew it was 1216. One after Magna Carta. As if he could ever make such a mistake. Never. Never! He just - he just couldn't prove it. Jim - Jimmy covered his tracks, he got that idiot at the copy shop to lie for him. You think this is something? You think this is bad? This? This chicanery? Jimmy's done worse. That billboard! Are you telling me that a man just happens to fall like that? No! He orchestrated it! Jimmy! He defecated through a sunroof! And Chuck saved him! And he shouldn't have. He took him into his own firm! What was he thinking? Jimmy will never change. He'll never change! Ever since he was 9, always the same! Couldn't keep his hands out of the cash drawer! But not our Jimmy! Couldn't be precious Jimmy! Stealing them blind! And he gets to be a lawyer!? What a sick joke! Chuck should've stopped him when he had the chance!

    i am a sufferer from EHS hypersensitivity and i know others and it is not psychosomatic. what do you actually know about it? it sucks to be tasered by a cop, doesn't it. imagine being tasered all night when you are trying to sleep for 3 years and judge the affects of that on your system and then talk to me. you know nothing. you only know for variables you have no idea about that it doesn't seem to affect you. the conditions are a high field for a long duration in close proximity. that mostly happens under technological work conditions or in our domestic sleeping areas. the truth is that this is simply trespassing on my property and affecting my health adversely by corporations with fake science that lie about the affects of EMF and EHS in human environments. It affects other living creatures as well, like plants, and animals, also it interferes with the ability of birds and bees to navigate to the earth magnetics. You really have no clue about which you speak.

    Yeah... They even showed it waaaaay earlier maybe even back in S1? When Chuck was in a hospital and a doctor actually tested it by using electronics right next to Chuck in the hospital without him noticing. Even then it was made clear that Chuck didn't actually suffer from some sensitivity against electronics but that he is obviously imaging it. The last few episodes just made it clear to Chuck himself that he isn't actually physically sick but mentally. So honestly this episode isn't a few BCS episodes late with the court scene but a few seasons.

    Really like that you support BCS, but it's not really an interesting theory. The show itself leads you in the direction that it's a mental illness and that it isn't real, but the real question is what causes him to act like this, that's the question that the series wants you to think about. At first it looked like Chuck acted this way because of Jimmy's actions as a lawyer, but in this season they revealed that it probably has something to do with Chuck's divorce.

  • @TheDelinear

    @TheDelinear

    7 жыл бұрын

    Yeah, the character studies are fantastic. I suspect it's a combination of both his divorce (in his mind he probably sees this as a failing on his part, whereas we saw with the whole fake address situation that mentally he can't accept that he is fallible, so he manifests his failure in a condition that is outside his control and therefore something he can't be blamed for) coupled with his perception of the flawed Jimmy somehow being rewarded, even when his actions don't warrant it.

    What people really need to understand, as both an implication from the show and about mental illnesses like this, is that it can really by a big conglomeration of all of these things. Although this is not a scientific explanation, I can say anecdotally that everything really just hits you like a tidal wave. I have a lot of experience with psychosomatic conditions like panic attacks and severe anxiety, and I can tell you that there isn't always a really identifiable cause. Yes, Chuck is probably still stressed and affected by his divorce; Yes, Chuck is probably heavily affected by his rivalry with Jimmy; but, overall I feel the need to point out again that people are diving to deep into the wrong things. It does not really matter what the "cause" is. What matters is that the condition is fake, but Chuck THINKS it's real, and therefore does actually experience the symptoms that he describes, and also how this affects the relations of all the other characters.

    Personally, I think Chuck maybe developed this "condition" because of his ex-wife, she used to be on the phone most of the time and this caused disgust in Chuck about electronic devices, then it grew up to feel disgust in any kind of electricity. I thought about it when the three were having dinner and his girl started to talk on the phone ignoring him, and maybe this is why he started to hate electricity, because in some way in his perspective, it took away someone that was really close to him. I don't know, it's a possibility in my opinion.

And psychologist or not, all the conversations with the doctor about him alone is a pretty big hint.

    Why does it have to "go somewhere if it's gonna have another season"? Breaking Bad, while critically acclaimed to hell and back, didn't actually get good ratings until its FINAL season. Why should Better Call Saul be held to any higher of a standard? Better Call Saul is almost as critically loved as its predecessor, and every season (including Season 3) has actually had better ratings than the FIRST THREE SEASONS of Breaking Bad.

    Exactly, I'd be more surprised if more than a handful of people watching past the first few episodes actually believed the condition was real, whereas the theory video seems to give out the idea that the majority of people were in any kind of doubt. It's patently clear that even the other characters in the show who are sympathetic to Chuck's condition (Jimmy, Howard, Kim, etc) don't really believe in the condition, they know it's psychosomatic, but they play along because they know that to Chuck it's real and they don't want to exacerbate his suffering. This is evidenced by the hospital scene, in which Jimmy clearly isn't shocked or even mildly surprised when the doctor switches the electric bed on and Chuck doesn't react. The characters in the show know it's not real, the people watching the show know it's not real. All this video seems to do is demonise the mentally ill by suggesting in the title that they are LYING when they exhibit the symptoms of their mental condition, which is pretty harsh (especially since the title seems to be in direct opposition to the video itself, which acknowledges that Chuck does feel real pain when his brain perceives electricity, but a lot of people will just take away that the mentally ill = liars, which sucks).

If not, you should definitively try out this. How do cars get more speed? Do they train to get it? Or, are they built/born with speed parts?

    @@OnsideHaddock72 the reality is not like the show. they exaggerate some things in the show, but if chuck was as sensitive as he claimed, he would have felt the battery, i think the writer wrote the twist into the show to switch the plot. EMF aggravates and magnifies other conditions in the body, like nerve pain, or brain tumours. also the affect is cumulative, it is not instant like a taser, it depends in the individual and their resilience to EMF. the conditions are level of EMF, proximity to the signal and duration of exposure. sleeping in a high close field 8 hours a night, would make many ill within 3 months

He's got a lot of hate from those, so I was saying that it is very sad that he gets that hate because he's such a good person. and also he's making those theories either before it's been confirmed, or that he doesn't know. Like when he used ditto's absence as a critical piece of evidence in his Pokémon video but it was added into the game after he made the video. He really is a good person, he did the best he could to produce a video that everyone enjoyed.
