Loyal Theorists, we all know that stunt performers are the true unsung heroes of Hollywood. For crying out loud, why don't they have their own Oscar yet? But, putting that (begrudgingly) aside, today we're paying our own honors to the stunt community by asking if an action hero could be a hero in real life. And we're basing all of it on the new Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt movie The Fall Guy. Could a movie star survive an explosion? Scale a building? Jump multiple stories in a car? Today we find out!

I was a lifeguard and the “saying no” part of the video makes a lot of sense. Don’t forget that things go wrong on sets all the time, even when safety measures are taken to the fullest. Stunt people have very dangerous jobs and many have died in the line of duty. My father has known a few who have. Remember to be grateful for the roles they play while putting their lives on the line. They make it so your favorite actors don’t have to risk themselves

Why matpat videos has a lot of bots
as someone who does fight choreography and stage combat for live theater, staged fighting requires just as much if not more control, precision, and intensity because you're trying to sell hitting the target without ever hitting it. we also are almost always taught what would actually hurt someone and how that would work, since it lets us realistically sell the reaction.
I have to say, since Lee took over, I've been tuning in to more Film Theories. The videos arent all about horror anymore and they have really fun concepts. Matt was more electric as a host but I'm liking this.

⚠️Hello everyone!⚠️ Your friendly neighborhood Bait Police officer here to remind you not to reply to computers under comments! Replying to them makes KZread think that they’re real people. Things to do if you see a computer reply: 1. Do NOT reply! I know it might be tempting to clap back as these computers tend to slander our favorite creators, like Lee here, but replying to them will fool the KZread algorithm into thinking that they’re real people. 2. Report the comment either for “Unwanted commercial content or spam”, or for “Harassment and bullying.” (Either works, but if you try both a couple of times and the comment doesn’t get removed, try reporting for Hate Speech.) 3. Block the account by going to their channel, first pressing the “Report” button to report the channel and then clicking “Hide this user from my channel” so that pesky computer account can’t reply to your comments anymore. Safe commenting, friends 🫡 -Officer Miguel O’Hara of the Bait Police 💙🕷️♥️ (I swear it’s me, just rocking a Shanks pfp rn because he’s the GOAT) PS. I’m NOT a computer and if you reply, I will get back to you as soon as I can. Ask me literally anything, even something dumb like who my favorite One Piece character is. I swear I’m not a computer! Also, I am using the word “computer” instead of the “B O T” word in my comment and subsequent replies as the comments seem to get hidden for some reason when I use the latter 🤔 Please do the same so I can see your reply. I know y'all mean well but I think it's best if we stop comparing the new hosts to matpat or talking about him being gone every time a video comes out
in the original tv show, the fall guy was both a stunt man and also a licensed bounty hunter, so colt should be more capable than the average person. a good show to pair with the fall guy is bored to death. a show about a young author who becomes an unlicensed detective to avoid/inspire writing his second novel. it's an exaggerated autobiography. the main gag being that the real jonathan ames is 6 foot 9 and an accomplished fencer while the fictional jonathan ames is 5 foot 2 and a nervous wreck.
The Fall Guy was an American action-adventure television series produced for ABC and originally broadcast from November 4, 1981, to May 2, 1986. It stared Lee Majors, Douglas Barr, and Heather Thomas as Hollywood stunt performers who moonlight as bounty hunters. They swiped the name. knew i remembered that name.

Like the others, I was looking through the comments to see if anyone mentioned the original. The theory was kind of the whole premesis and it's pretty disappointing that they missed that point. Colt used his stuntman experience to help with the dangerous situations he got into bounty hunting. I must have been 8 or 9 at that time and loved the show.
@Tfin

"Swiped" probably isn't the right term. Majors played Colt Seavers in the series.

@UnclePhil73
Ай бұрын
At the risk of sounding heartless, if they die, they failed at being a good stuntman
The original Colt Seavers has one extra advantage: experience in doing all this stuff practically outside of the movie set. In the TV series the movie is (allegedly) based on, Colt (played by Lee Majors) takes bounty hunter gigs between movies to pay the bills. That means he has used those stunt skills in dangerous situations numerous times in the past and possibly even vice versa, taking something he did chasing a bad guy out of necessity (because it's still an action TV show) and creating a stunt out of it in a more controlled environment. Hope the movie at least ends with this Colt doing the same after his experience in the events of the movie. The one Ryan's working on, not the one Colt...you know what I mean.

Hey Lee, so you guys use to make videos where you would help fix the universes of things like Marvel or DC, I was wondering if you could do one for Star Wars. Star Wars has decreased in quality overtime, and I would love to hear your thoughts on how to make things better!
That lase segment really hit me, knowing when to say no, when to stop, even when lives are on the line. In the Sanderson novels "Stormlight Archives" the main characters make a series of oaths (or Ideals) as they progress through their powers. The first ideal is the same for all of them: "Life before death, strength before weakness, journey before destination." but the rest are specific to the orders they belong to, and the Wind Runner ideals, the forth in particular, are starkly relevant here. The Wind Runners are your most obvious, most classical hero archetype, easily summed up by their second and third ideals: "I will defend those who cannot defend themselves." and "I will defend all those who need me, even those I hate, so long as it is right.", the exact phrasing can vary but the spirit of it remains for each character, establishing the order's duty, and an affirmation that the duty to defend others comes before their personal feelings. Both things law enforcement, soldiers, and first responders can easily identify with. The forth ideal is the hardest to uphold, and commented in the books as being one many wind runners of old never actually swore: "I will accept that there will be those I cannot save." And I get it, to try but fail to save a life is a hard thing to live with, but to step away without trying, the doubt that you might have been wrong, that you *could* have done more, accepting your limits knowing that someone might die because of it... THAT is truly hard, it can feel like cowardice. but in those situations, not only could trying but failing make things worse, but you (the trained professional) living to fight another day could go on to save many more lives.
I think this is one of my new favorite Film Theory! Good job Lee!
I miss u matpat!
Matpat was the TRUE hero
When I first saw the title of this video, I thought it would be about the '80s tv series that the movie appears to be loosely based on. I didn't know about the movie until now, but I loved the series when I was a kid, so I'm looking forward to seeing it.

As well as having multiple protocols that are constantly being reviewed and revised. And thank you for mentioning the difficult decision we have to make as first responders on whether we should continue to take action or not, because while we are trying to save the lives of others, we also need to make sure we are not creating more victims.
