    I have come to the conclusion based on my own experience that Delta 100 is the best film for a balanced combination of fine grain, sharp detail and beautiful tonality.

    How do you find the exposure latitude on the Delta 100. I love the rich contrasts of the whites and the blacks. They say PanF50 is a hard film to work with, so wondering if Delta is as good, but with a extra stop of light to play with. :)

  • @tomwhelan

    @@grahamhutton3129 I find Delta 100 pretty good. I would agree that pan f 50 if more tricky and I find it easier to blow the highlights but if you get it right pan 50 is a stunning film.

    Tom, I recently hauled out my RZ and lenses but with Ilford Pan F developed in Kodak D-23 in my Jobo tank (continuous agig itation as a one-shot developer @18*C) using B&W contrast filters and made 20"x24" fiber based enlargements in my darkroom wit Delta 100 as a "control".I'm in love with the depth of tone in the PanF prints, although SOME Delta 100 negatives have "something" the Pan F's don't.. Call it "interior contrast"- dodging and burning-in CAN compensate especially on graded paper. Honestly Pan F, Delta 100, Rollei 25 and Rollei 100 COULD be my four favorite medium/slow speed films, with a vote for Rollei Retro 80S. You owe it to yourself to try slower films . Night-time street-light photos with PanF rated at ISO 4-8 and "pull processed" 25-33% will give you full roll of easy-to-print night-shots, with detail in the shadows and no 'blown-out"liht bulbs.

    Thanks again for the vid. Tom. Some more gorgeous black and whites. Hard to select a favourite. After influencing me to try IR photography, it looks as though I will have to invest in a ND filter next! BTW, whar filter system do you use? I can see that it would be easier to slide a filter in and out of a holder that to screw one in and out.

  • @tomwhelan

    @tomwhelan

    2 жыл бұрын

    Thanks David it’s definitely worth investing in a ND filter it opens up so many options with photography. I use the Lee filter system with 100 mm filters it’s a great system. There are also excellent screw in options for ND filters if your just after 1 filter as it would be a lot cheaper. If you want to use various filters and especially graduated filters the Lee filter system is the way to go. I hope this helps many thanks Tom.

    Ciao Tom e complimenti per il tuo canale. Confermo che vivi in un posto meraviglioso che ho avuto modo di visitare alcuni anni fa. Più che un commento che comunque non può che essere positivo, vorrei farti una richiesta e cioe se nei prossimi video potresti parlare di come esegui le letture esposimetriche per le tue fotografie. Letture incidenti , riflettenti, spot ecc. Quali strumenti adoperi? Esposimetro Sekonic? Sono curioso su come valuti l'esposizione della scena. Grazie mille e di nuovo complimenti

    good to see delta being used... i use it for my 5x4 work. have you done n-1 etc development on these, or brought up shadow detail post scanning? Delta doesnt have much latitude, and seeing you werent using graduated filters.. in my experience, you would of lost highlight detail shooting the way you did?

    Your quick coupler is slow. Why do people love ND 10 filters? The shutter sound is not like the long exposure of a RZ 67.. Photograhy is not taking changes and accept it went wrong. Not using your cable releasa on purpose?
