I am not able to ungroup the picture from inititally

I cant envelope distort the two objects. It says that "This requires a selection of multiple objects. The top object must be a single path or mesh, or a symbol containing a single path or mesh." Can anybody help?

Move the text layer below the layer of the shape or object

Don,t forget to ungroup the object before u applying the envelop disort. Also make sure that the text should be in down layer.
