I'm telling you all. Larry Chen is the Anthony Bourdain of ..... not only the world's car culture but the whole auto industry itself. We always remember that AB helped the Philippines accelerate its food spectrum to the world and I believe that Larry Chen is just scratching the surface. Thanks a lot Larry and Angie Mead King!

The positivity and acceptance in these crews is amazing, everyone helpful and welcome. Not all scenes have reached this level of chill. Hope Greece gets there.
I love the Philippines I am married to a beautiful Filipino girl for 10 years and lived in Filinvest for 4 years. The cars we use to see the at the petrol station every Sunday and at Molito's was insane. Fuĺl respect and love for all the people and car culture there its a special place for me and so underrated.
Everytime Larry asks "Is that Legal?" or "How is this allowed?" I just wanna go "Larry, it's the Philippines"
A frustrating aspect of car culture in the Philippines is the loud revving of Civics (and other cars, though Civics are the most common) at car meet locations. This often leads to these spots being banned for car meets sadly.
Oh Wow! That's the TRD AE86 catalog car that used to be at the old TRD USA headquarters in Gardena, California.

Thank you, Larry for taking the time to come here in the Philippines to showcase our car culture.
The amount of people who are fanboying because of Larry is funny haha! It's like he's a superstar out there!!
This video put a huge smile on my face. You can really hear and see the passion for cars within the community. Thanks for showcasing Filipino car culture, Larry. It truly is something special.
Dang, didn’t know Car Culture was that strong there! Glad for people like Angie to keep the scene going!

It isn’t. The people who own these cars is like 1% of Filipino rich people. And they the ones who stole money from Philippines. Philippines is poor as fuck
Thanks for giving the Filipino car cultture this coverage, Larry! Can't wait to see my people again.
The 944 was the sickiest car on the video..Dude is insane!!!..wow..👍🏽🏁

Agreed. RB in a 944 is so dope!!!!
Larry let me tell you, that's still Luzon you're witnessing. That's like 35% of Philippines! I've been to Cebu, Davao, and Cagayan and they had helluva cars there too!
Thanks for featuring the S800! Much love from the Philippines!

Dude that thing is super dope!!! My favorite car in the video. The install is super clean and looks OEM! Well done. Would love to see an entire feature on your car.
Thank you Larry Chen for this! I use to stereo type my own people for doing half ass builds and had no idea they got down like that in PI. Like holy shit! Much respect for everything you shoot!
So proud to see my Filipino brethren doing it big out in the PI! I will have to come back and visit the motherland one day. It's changed so much from 20+ years go!!
Thank you Larry for visiting the Philippines
It's always so good to set-up a meet with somebody who knows everybody.
Being filipino i love seeing the culture in the Phillippines. Another awesome youtuber who showcases it is @southscene a lot of honda content but love the videos larry.
Love the 70s celica. Used to drive a 1972 Celica ST. Brought back some pretty good memories.
I visited Manila last summer and driving out there in the day time is absolutely nuts its get in where you fit in its so nice to see clean cars out there when the traffic is nuts
Congratulations, Larry JWD ! from Los Angeles
JDM trucks are exempt from the law that your pals mentioned. There's a reason why there are multitudes of Fuso Super Greats, Hino Previas, and Isuzu Gigas running around in the Philippines, many of them the so-called "wing vans" and quite a few of those trucks still decked out as dekotoras!.
@honamihodoshima2332
Ай бұрын
There are actually ways to bypass that ban his pals were telling him. If you've ever seen those JDM kei vans usually with newer J and K plates, there are importers in Visayas and Mindanao who import chopped up kei vans and declare them as "car parts" to get through BOC. Shops would then reassemble them as LHD and you're all good to go. Beware though, some of these kei vans have shoddy and unprofessional LHD conversions. I also remember seeing a chopped up Galant AMG being sold in FB marketplace so that really is another way to import JDM here without the BOC batting an eye.

As a Filipino American I would love to go over and experience Filipino car culture
Filipine, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapour, Thailand have such crazy car scenes. Europe and America should be ashamed to think we are the center of the car culture world. (stands in other domain too) ^___- Sending much love to you guys from France!

What are their pronouns
The Revo is actually an Indonesian car known originally as the Kijang. In the Philippines, we got the Tamaraw, Revo, and Innova, while Indonesia carries the Kijang name all the way through. Sure you've noticed both in Indonesia and the Philippines how prominent the Innova is, great builds for it because it carries a stupid turbodiesel that makes it crazy fast as your family car (2.8l in the PH, 2.4l in Indonesia)
@Mav3rickkk

awesome content. love to see/learn about the filipino car culture1
Larry come to Brazil !!! you will have a blast.
Always LOVE seeing Advan RG1s nowadays!
LETS GOOOO ITS FINALLY OUT
I think i saw a toyota revo here in Texas, it drove passed us one day. I think i saw it twice here around my neighborhood.
Pinoys are awesome!! 👏
Great Larry!!!!!!
Perfect example of respect all builds
This is Peninsula Manila.. nice vlog sir❤️
You should come to Brunei and experience the car culture😃🇧🇳
Larry popping for the Yaris and the Brio got me grinning hahah
Quite a few stock JDM awd manual Orthias up here in Canada. If the prices come back to reality I’d want to lhd convert it as well.
My friend Jay-r has a lancer box type here in America that he imported from japan, then he did a gsr conversion and then he also got a donor eclipse gst and just used the motor out of it. Anyways that was his last project before he died from covid. VJ knows him as well and is also friends with him.
When i was growing up my dad and my uncles were racing rally cars and drag cars. We had a countryman austin, landrover 90, ford granada, 72 toyota corolla rally car, a hi-ace, vauxhall, and a ford bedford panel van. Then we had to sell everything and move to California. I wish i could get all those cars again as a grown up
🔥🔥🔥 COME TO CAPE TOWN BRO !!!!

naybe next time yoy should go to Mindanao too, Mindanao car scenes is insane too like the fastest civic in the Philippines is there
15:55 this car is so cool, like it looks so damn legit.
I love how you said that white R34 looks stock when it barely has 1 inch of ride height clearance 😆👌
I miss my friend Joel Tan, i use to talk to him every week. Then one day it stopped, i guess that is when he died. He was always telling that life was to short to wait for things to happen. Anyways Joel helped me realize my dream build by finishing my corolla the way i wanted it with the trueno front right hand drive swap and the color i wanted orange and also he use some of my parts he used like my wheels and motor.

I lot of my O.G. car guy friend already passed away 2 from covid, 1 from cancer, 2 from a heart attacks, 1 from a stroke, and 1 from complications to diabetes.
13:17 Missed opportunity if it had a genuine 4G6 engine under the Lancer EX 2000 Turbo tribute trimmings
39:15 today I learned that Larry has a Evo. First time hearing about it.
I wanna build a current model camry wagon, but they are still not eligible for import here in the US. They only came out in Australia and Japan.
We have Honda Brio's here in South Africa also it's not just a South East Asian market car infact we have literally all the cars aside from alot of american cars because american cars aren't fit for our roads they're too big they use way too much fuel and they're just a major inconvenience
Larry Chen has never seen an isuzu pup? We had them in the USA with regular cab or space cab. I dont think we got the crew cab, though. Same vehicle as the isuzu rodeo and honda passport of its generation, too.
That civic wagon takes the cake in my book, and apologies for my ignorance but I remember my friends from the Philippines (granted this was back in the 90’s) telling me the government there could simply take your vehicle away for living too “richly”, unsure if that was never a thing or the times changed for the better, but regardless lots of really cool builds there
@sonosheereleoux2694

if your car is VERY rare enough to get certain eyes on you and if they actually sniff around to find out that's it's illegally imported. they will take the car, impound it and most likely crush it. happened recently to two bugatti chirons here in ph.
@iggymiranda1797
Ай бұрын
Only illegal cars get confiscated and crushed after getting a lifestyle check.
@LilSaint001100
Ай бұрын
Mostly if its illegally imported. If they imported a lambo and used a merc designation in paper to lessen the tax that will be trouble.
@possibly8180

RHD cars used to be legal here too.. until they weren't.
Pls come to China Guangzhou to film the local car culture, We have a unique way with modified cars due to strict regulations, it's facinating how people can slip through loop holes, I could be your guide
Way to go Filipino’s ingenuity!
Left hand drive Z-tune R34 would go for big money here in the U.S.
That orange celica is 🔥🔥🔥
Every time I see him cutting a 993 - I end up crying.
They are not playing any games all beautiful builds.
Kevin with his awesome meets...
That left hand drive skyline was crazy
Aren't B plates from port irene?
Remember kids, the local dealership killed JDM imports. We could be having cool cars right now.

I just want a GT-Z AE92 goddamnit. There's literally no 2-door 92s here.
My dad's friend had a honda s600 before in the 80s when i was a little boy in the Philippines. But i don't know if that car still exists, because the guy also moved to California.
I hope RealRyan's bagged AE101 is gonna be featured in one of these. Or whoever owns that 3SGE red top swapped red AE101
Awesome Sauce!
Niiiiiice!!!
My uncle owns the only right hand drive pulsar gti-r in the philippines that was given to him to drive in a rally, of course it was illegal to import a right hand drive car or jdm car in the Philippines unless it is a knock down version or parted out version, then you could rebuild it when it get to the Philippines and convert it to lhd car if you want or make it into a full fledge race car, which my uncle did to be able to rally it.
This makes me miss my 95 Accord Wagon.
Sad to hear the Joel owner of Mango has passed. 25:21 RIP
love the red corolla
RWB haven. larry was so confused w/ the right hand to left hand drive conversion. 😁 seems like he can't wrap his head around it.
Astig :)
my 2nd home country♥️♥️♥️♥️
You should do a collaboration with CB Media
Not shown here but The philippines probably has more running condition old school (70s and 80s era) JDM cars like 1st and 2nd gen Lancer GSRs, Corolla SRs, Mitsu Colt Galant etc than Japan.
Need that Civic wagon
Car Culture runs strong in the R.P.🇵🇭
Does lady Angie still have the DDE Ferrari?👍☺️
the civic wagon i think is from cagayan de oro before.
