I have been dropping spoons all night... no luck so far...

My mum told me to never go to sleep with my hair wet cause it'll make me blind. After a funeral, my grandma will always tell me to cover the mirrors so the spirit of the person, who's funeral we just attended to, won't come out of the mirror cause apparently the mirror is like a teleport. But when there's lightning, she covers the mirrors cause if lightning hits the mirror, the mirror will make it bounce out causing the house to catch on fire.

She told me that the reason for it happening was she accidentally looked at the sun while she was pregnant..The brightness was supposed to burn out his color....I spent about 3 months trying to prove that it was heredity. That would be a BIG no....They were virtually social outcasts...The boy was bullied his whole life and she was boycotted in the barrio and the rest of the town..Small town and lots of talk.....He was different in a country where if you are different you can become a target..Plus he could not go out in the sun so he went out at night only...Try to research beliefs in the Philippines..

When I lived in the province, there is this "albino" who has been the talk of our town, and to think that person actually lived in another town 10km away from ours. I believed he is also bullied by his peers and even adults, and nobody really cares. Sad truth.

I was told that if someone stepped over you, you wouldn't grow. I'm 3"2 but that's due to disability, I'm a LP.

The one that my family is still anal about is that people shouldn't leave when someone is eating! And if they really have to, the ones eating have to spin their plates around as the person leaves. It's to make sure they don't get into an accident

When I lived there as a kid, our maid told us that playing with the cat indoors during a storm would result in the house being struck by lightening, so she was always tossing the cat outside in horrible weather! She also believed that if you got your leg wet after ironing, the leg would shrivel. The fit she threw when I accidentally got a few drops of water on her while I was using the garden hose (and didn't know about her superstition) was epic - pots and pans flying, screaming and crying like mad while she watched and waited. And waited. And waited.

mikey bustos you scared me a lot on the ghost part.

I could relate to this haha.. I used to live with my lola and there are lots of supertitions and beliefs I have to deal everyday.. :) Most of the time I proved it wrong :)

I'm from Senegal, West Africa,and it's said that if your right hand itches you'll receive money and if your left hand itches you'll give money and if you don't collect your hair after brushing it and a bird builds its nest with it, you'll become crazy so or you flush it down the toilet or you burry it deep

+Mariy Ed Oh wow! Interesting! I have heard the bird's nest thing and always that that was only Filipino. Also, growing up they always said left hand itchy = money coming in! Hahaha funny beliefs! Thanks for watching! Mabuhay to you there in Senegal!

Haha can so relate to the Duwende belief. I was born in Manila, but my mom's family is from Pampanga. So, when I was living there my mom told me I somehow angered the duwende and it cursed me to get sick. My whole family has told me the same thing too. I think I was playing and fell on top of their house something along the lines of that. I would always get yelled at for stepping over a person. So, when a person is lying down don't step over them otherwise, they won't grow taller. If your toilet is facing the door make sure the seat is always down otherwise your money is going down the drain.

- cutting your babies/toddlers eyelashes, will make them grow longer - babies should never touch the floor until they are 1 year old (i forgot why though) - when leaving a cemetery, you're supposed to burn a fire on the cemetery and walk through the smoke, to not bring any ghosts home - no pictures while pregnant, it's bad luck - put a coin in your sock for good luck - wear something round for good luck - wear red on your birthday (or is that just a tradition?) yup that's about the main things i've learned from my mom and family - wow we have such strange beliefs and i do believe in most of them :D

After a funeral, we jump or cross over smoke to keep the spirits away or to prevent them following us and we also go somewhere else before going home
