Filipino Style Pork Skewers Grilled On The Weber Kettle
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Using a simple marinade and some cubed up pork shoulder, I grill up some Filipino Style Pork Skewers on the Weber Kettle, basting with some marinade as they cook to build an amazing glaze on the meat.

Your bbq looks divine!!!! Now, I am hungry. It is good with ice cold beer :)

Honestly, what doesn't go well with an ice cold beer? Cheers!!
As an American born and raised ethnic Filipino, this recipe is legit! I just made this recipe, except with 7up, calamansi and banana sauce, and it tasted just like the bbq at those big Filipino backyard parties I had experienced growing up. Thanks for sharing!

So glad you found the video helpful 😊
For banana ketchup, I'd suggest sriracha for a bit of a kick. Banana ketchup is only used for coloring because it's cheap. Tomato ketchup is a little too sweet. Reduce a little of the brown sugar and use Pineapple juice as a substitute for kalamansi. It's a bit sweeter but it pretty good. We also use the same marinade for a grilled pork belly and serve it with a spicy vinegar dipping sauce or a soy sauce mixed with lime juice with red onions, cut fresh tomatoes and bird's eye chillies. You can serve them with a sauerkraut like side dish using papaya.
I ate a lot of these when I was a kid growing up on Clark AFB. They are sooooo good. Ty for showing how to make these... going to be making these for my wife and son soon.
Love all your content Ry !! Thank you for taking the time and raising our BBQ game.

You can actually use the marinade for basting but you have to reduce it in the stove by boiling it at the same time it's gonna get cooked and not raw when you baste it to the meat.
I like you r recipe. Thanks

These were a fun cook on my go anywhere put. I enjoyed the flavor profile but, this is a sweeter marinade. Consider cutting back on sugar & ketchup if your audience prefers more savory profile. Still a hit in my books. Thx for share.

How did it come out?
Ry, I love how diverse your videos are. Next you'll be doing grilled bundt cake.
@CookingWithRy
6 жыл бұрын
Ah, yes, the Gastoni.
Suggestion for the pork: If you get your pork in a large round portion like in the video, you can slice them into one and a half inch thick steaks, and then freeze them separated from one another for about 45 mins to an hour, depending on how strong your freezer is, and provided you have the space to do so. That way, the pork will be tempered when you cut them into cubes and they will come out with straighter sides so when you grill them, they'll be easier to turn a quarter way. Just make sure the cubes are each facing the same flat side per skewer.

I prefer them with nooks and crannies. More surface area and textures.

Hey thank you very much for this, I never had this in my life and I'm about to make it, I wrote a list to make shopping easier. Thx again. Ingredients for Marinade: 3 Cups of Sprite (~720ml) 3/4 Cup of Fresh Squeezed Lemon Juice (about 6 lemons worth) 1 TBSP Fresh Squeezed Lime Juice 1 1/2 Cups of Soy Sauce 1 TBSP Crushed/Minced Garlic 1 1/2 Cups Brown Sugar 1 TBSP Salt 1 TBSP Pepper 1 1/2 Cups Ketchup (Combine and use stick blender for quicker results) *SAVE 1 1/2 CUP OF MARINADE BEFORE ADDING MEAT INTO IT* Pork = De-bone 8lb (4kg) pork shoulder (called pork butt in USA) and cut into 1" pieces (25mm pieces) Should be left with 6lb (3kg) of boneless pork. MARINADE ATLEAST 4 hours, best if overnight. (I recommend plastic bag instead of plate or pan) Skiewer them and BBQ as directed in the video (Baste while flipping)
Yummy 😍😍😍

I got a girlfriend out of this bbq recipe. Kudos to you and your recipe. Its really amazing. Thanks
I kind of like using Vernors ginger ale because the ginger is so robust and Just because I'm lazy when I'm making skewers like this, I call ahead at my favorite asian restaurant and order a batch of House Fried Rice with all the goodies in it. It makes a great bed for underneath those amazing skewers. Awesome video thx much! :8)

Great idea with the ginger ale 👍
Hi Ry. Been enjoying your vids for a few months now. I especially appreciate your affinity for the Weber Kettle, as it is my only current option for grilling and smoking. I have a friendly suggestion/request regarding videos like this one. I often watch on my phone, when I don’t have pen and paper handy to transcribe the recipe while you’re describing it. If you could add a text graphic to the video, or a written recipe in the description, I could simply take a screen shot of that key information to access later. Anyway, thanks for the excellent and entertaining content! I’m planning to start doing cooking videos, also. Some of which will no doubt draw inspiration from some of yours. Would love your feedback! Keep ‘em coming!

Fun recipe. I wonder how these would do in a sous vide with marinade, then a reverse sear on the kettle …
Wow!!!
smaller, thinner is my preference. cooks faster, brush ketchup/ banana sauce. seer and done. great stuff! nice video

I'm not gonna say 'oh looks good' or 'wow looks tasty!'. No. I actually tried doing it - confirmed, good stuff. At the same time i did regular pork skewers (for comparison) which turned out more tender, wonder if it is the soya&salt that keep the meat so firm? No matter - fully recommended. Thx!

Sounds great. But I'm going to try pork loin. Should be more tender. Then beef. Can't forget the jumbo prawns. Just don't marinade them as long, maybe 2 hrs. should do. This recipe sounds excellent but might have to add 1 Tbl. spoon minced ginger.
