It’s not the water! Filipinos have been blessed with singing skills that are incredible! I was able to work abroad in the Philippines for 3 years and could not believe that even my former Filipino colleagues could belt out any song. Try walking to any café, club or disco in Manila and you will be amazed at the raw talent. It seems like every band, duo or single person could sing any American song without any Filipino accent. I could not get enough of their super talent!

My German husband, can't seem to comprehend why so many Filipinos - kids, students, teenagers, adults - can sing very well. I always tell him that it's probably because it's the first thing we learn since birth when our mothers would sing us a lullaby or when we hear her sing while cooking or cleaning. It's cultural, too - singing is part of our daily life and it's the cheapest form of entertainment. We sing when we're bored, we jam when we gather together, we sing pretty much anywhere anytime, whether we can sing in tune or not. It's funny how the rest of the world gets surprised at ordinary Filipinos belting difficult songs when this is pretty much 'just another day' of life in the PH.

In every classroom there will always be a band... or atleast a guitarist. Every break time, recess, or classes without a teacher, students tend to jam and sing songs accompanied by their guitarist. There are instances wherein they bring their own bluetooth speaker and do their seatwork/activity while listening to music. There are cases wherein a student will start singing and the others will sing along while doing school work. 😊😊😊

Music is a big part of our culture. We sing all the time, when we're sad, when we're happy, and karaoke is always present during birthday parties, wedding, Christening and many more events.

Some schools here in the Philippines allowed their student to bring their musical instrument. Koraoke is everywhere, inside the mall, grocery, bar, and even in household. Filipinos are very good in singing and dancing also.

In different places here in the Philippines past time of many Filipinos is to sing and play musical instruments. When I was young, I was high school then, I developed the hobby, because the kids of my age were playing guitars and singing with peers. We call it "jamming". I am now heading to my twilight years, I still enjoy singing with my peers. I watch Filipinos singing in malls, stores, radio and tv stations, bars, terminals, and in singing contests local and abroad. That's why I also enjoy watching your reactions of Filipinos belting songs in contests, in radio stations and in malls. Abundance of Filipinos are really great singers. musicians, song writers and music composers. During my elementary education in a public school, music was one of our school subjects. Until now, I still have my personal guitar. ukulele, flute, violen, harmonica, and I bought piano from several years of saving money for this because piano is very expensive. When I am alone, I play these instruments. In the Phil. seldom can you find a household without a musical instrument. There must at least be a guitar if not ukulele hanged on the wall. Many Filipinos even in the hinterlands or remote places know how to play guitar.

No wonder Pilipinos love you because Pilipinos had been unknowned and underrated for so long 'till now at the onset of Social Media that you come to know and appreciate them. Tnx guys.

Yes ladies, these singers probably spend long hours practicing Karaoke at home, while Americans preferred going to concerts and listen to the performers, or better yet, when taking shower without the big audience. Practice is the key to get better at it.Great reactions and comments from the two lovely ladies. Keep up the good job. God bless always

I think Doe's assessment is spot on, 4 out of 5 Filipinos really know how to carry a tune, and out of the four two can sing really well, and 1 could probably cut a record deal if discovered... 😊. It's probably because of the fact that every other household here in the Philippines owns a videoke machine or any type of singing apparatus. And the fact that the karaoke machine was developed (not invented) by a Filipino. That's why there's even a joke that says that Filipino babies are auto-tuned when they get born. Other babies just go "Waaaaaaaaaaaah" when they cry... Filipino babies wait for their mama's to hit a tuning fork before they cry so they could get the right pitch... 😁
