Filipino Fishermen SHARE THEIR HARVEST! Going Home! Batag Island to Leyte
I'M BACK IN PINTUYAN!
And in this awesome town almost at the tip of Southern Leyte, it's off-season for the whale sharks - so the community of Brgy Son-ok that usually relies on tourism is now totally focused on fishing!
And it's a good harvest today - so they shared a couple of fish with me!
But we start in Batag Island, and its 1907 lighthouse - this purely concrete construction was part of the original plan to light up the entire archipelago from the south to Manila, and still stands tall (it can resist 200kmph winds!)
Then an earth trail to Amoguis Beach - which turns slippery in the rain!
The next day, back on the craziest boat I've ever taken (they know what they're doing!) and the wooden ROROs before heading around Samar's coast and over San Juanico - in the rain!
My destination is Pintuyan - last time I was catching pygmy squid, but this time of year they're only catching fish - especially mackerel (matambaka)! With a good harvest today - they gave me a couple of fish to grill!

That's the second tallest lighthouse in the Philippines! It's nice up there! I frequently go there during my highschool years! Welcome to our home town Laoang Northern Samar! Very nostalgic seeing your footage, thanks for showing it to us. It was built by American Government to help navigate the sailing ships specially the warships!

The lighthouse is our historical heritage...I hope it will be restored to it's former glory someday
Throughout its years of service, it endured numerous typhoons that had a significant impact on the province of Northern Samar.
Hope they will consider repairing the light house.

That's correct that lighthouse looks like the Bolinao lighthouse. It's like a replica maybe same engineer.

Next bike soon, if i may be so bold to suggest the cfmoto mt 450 or the royal enfield himalayan 400/450. Both are not much larger than the vstrom and a more powerful engine allowing you to travel the expressway in luzon. Cutting down significantly your travel time.

KD you should mark the Google map the places you went to Batag just like the cave which has no name yet as well as the beautiful beaches. Only the old lighthouse is marked on the map. I know the cave is somewhere North and the long beach is somewhere East.
That's not the Island of Camiguin in the background Kumander Daot! That must be Limasawa Island, only about 15 km distance. Camiguin is about 100 km and that is to far to see from sealevel!

The locals said it's Camiguin. They also pointed out Gingoog area just beside it. I saw Limasawa too, it doesn't have the volcanic form!

Hi KD please be careful on using gasoline sold in bottles at the sides of the roads because there are some unscropolous people selling that gasoline and mixing with water with gasoline colorings it can damage the engine of the motorcycles.

V-STROM 250 SX...about 400lbs. The trail has to slippery...looks like red dirt with clay to me. Good bike for the ride though.

Limasawa is flatter! The locals confirmed it was Camiguin (and I just checked my footage, I can see Limasawa separately)
