    Your comment about the gallery feature was pretty funny. I don't think I could use something that small just because the controls seems cramped. For smaller players I've enjoyed things like the ES 100 and I think the Hiby R3 is the smallest DAP or player with a UI that I could use. Good review though and thanks for your thoughts on this unit!

    I've been using this DAP for a few months now and I'm impressed with the build quality. I hook it up to my soundboard and other devices that have an AUX hookup. This DAP plays a variety of lossless files including DSD, DSF, 24//96 bit, and WAV to mention a few. As for the e-book and calculator app I would prefer that it was not included, hopefully, the next firmware will exclude it. The price point is unbeatable!

    As much as I love my phone I may have to go for a cheap mp3 player and download music the old fashion way since apple is killing the charging port and going wireless charging Samsung will follow suit and make phones with no charging port usb c is here to stay for music audio since peaple like wired headphones I agree bluetooth has that disconnected feeling regardless if it running the best codes dac lol

    I have another question, this involves a classic headphone amplifier. Another one of your viewers replied to a question I had ask you and he suggested this( and the had some other products also) and "rrrrrr" said I might want to investigate, so, my question is about. " Headroom Blockhead Balanced Headphone Amplifier/ Stepped- Attenuator Model" that's a mouthful! I have enough, it's a 2004 model, it has to have special cables, error was right that, their literature sounds OUTSTANDING! But, I'm still a little wary, a thousand plus is still a lot for me, so, Oh- Bee "1" have you any knowledge on buying this classic w/ two mono amplification or stick with the Rupert Neve I asked you about and save some money for a DAC or something, hit me with some more of that MOJO you spin so well, love you man! Keep giving us the heads up and thanks!

    Players that require you to look at them to change basic settings like volume, pause, forward, back, etc. are failed devices. A better designed player has buttons that you can feel and use by sense of touch without looking. This proves true in any activity where you wish to not be wearing your glasses (any exercise), or any activity where you must keep your eyes elsewhere (driving). This is why the Sansa Clip is still quite valuable used.

    I have the m6, yes, its awful, the music app is buggy as hell and the very few firmware updates didnt do-nothing at all. I have the shanling m0 an Q1. Both players are faster with a good a amount of firmware updates, both with Bluetooth, the q1 now with wifi to transfer music. For me the shanling players are way better than the m6.

    Hello! Could you, by any chance, tell me what are your thoughts on using a budget DAP such as this one as a digital transport for an external DAC/AMP vs using a smartphone in this manner?

  • @Currawong

    @Currawong

    3 жыл бұрын

    I don't usually answer these questions in the comments, but I will for you. Right now, I'd rather use a smart phone, as the small DAPs are a bit fiddly, and a smart phone or larger DAP can access and store music offline from streaming services. However, if you want to use something like a Chord Mojo in the most compact way possible, and don't mind the speed and feature limitations, then one of these small DAPs might be OK.

    @@Currawong Big thank you for making an exception! I'm concerned about the impact on the sound guess and foremost, due to the fact that I've experienced differences in sound when using my smartphone and notebook as a digital transport for my self powered DAC/AMP, as well as a certain relation between the amount of running backround processes on the transport device and the "quality"/character of sound. This lead me to entertain a thought that the implementation of the digital decoding software and the amount of processing power available to it actually has an impact on sound. If this is, in fact, the case then, let's say, an ultra-budget DAP like the M3 Pro may be a worse digital source than a decent budget smartphone, which is properly configured and has a proper software (software player with custom USB drivers for direct output of the digital signal to the external/internal DAC bypassing the shortcomings of the systems suboptimal handling of e digital signal (i.e. the resampling in Android OS, increased latency etc).

    After having the m6, I will never want to buy a fiio player again. I prefer the shanling q1 and m0. A lot more of firmware updates, and the updates actually improve things. The m6 is slow, the music app never works well and the 2 firmware updates do almost nothing to the player. I bought the m6 when the sony walkman was at the same price ($150), and I deeply regret my decision. Maybe the m3 pro is better, but for that price you can pay $20 more and buy a Q1 with Bluetooth and some wifi capabilities, with a lot more of updates that actually improve the player.

Nils lofren-Acoustic live, on acoustic guita for highs. Michael Hedges-oracle to test any speaker. The best 2 cds that I"ve ever heardto test mids & highs is the air off a flute on these next 2 albums of Jeremy Steig, Howling for Judy, Wayfaring stranger. Drums & mids on sax is John Coletrane A LOve Subpreme. Most of these are on youtube. Michael Hedges_ Oracle on youtube isnt put on good. Van Morrison-Astral weeks, is great on acoustic bass. Michael Hedges-oracle is best cd to test low mids to build the correct size cabinet for a bookshelf speaker & woofer size
